Stop Artwork layers from moving during reload

I am near completion on my main menu theme, and every time I go to another system, the artwork layers move out of screen. Is there a way to just have them go blank and the new themes pop in. I am trying to create a simplified menu. See video, and you'll see what I mean. The masking frame is Layer 2, the game icons (Mario, Sonic) are layer 1, and the text is layer 3 and 4. How can I make it stay in place? Thanks!

they happen if there not named correctly or there in read only! read only tends to stuff the wheels around

Thanks for the reply. I checked the filenames of the ZIPs for each theme in my Hyperspin/Media/Main Menu/Themes folder, and they all are correct according to HS naming conventions. Also, each one of the zip files has Read Only unchecked. I even looked in the zip at the various files (Artwork 1,2, theme, info), and everything is set to unchecked with Read Only. But the menu moving around upon loadout still happens.

As far as I know there is no way to stop layers randomly animating out while changing roms or system. This is really annoying on HTPC styled themes...

Create an animated .swf in flash with all layers and use that as background in hypertheme. Hyperspin can cope with a single 1024*768 .swf.

Not a bad idea. I assume I would make a swf for each system, and I would only have to deal with one transition between systems? Ideally I don't want the menu image to reset each time. If i erase the transitions I assume it wouldn't be an issue ?

Your referring to the built in transitions from one them to the next, right? But since you've standardized all your themes, that becomes unwanted. I've looked into toning down the transitions myself. Except for a few I found in "Override", the rest seem to be built in?

Can you somehow force a certain override transition? If you could force say a simple crossfade transition to be the only one used, you wouldn't notice the static elements changing.

Dunno about the main menu, but for a system theme I did, I put everything I wanted to stay static in an swf in Artwork1 and ran it in a loop (it was animated, not sure if this was critical or not). As I scrolled through the games, the other layers and video animated out of the screen, but Artwork1 kept on running. Maybe first off try putting the frame as Artwork1, maybe you can avoid doing any Flash, otherwise, explore the Flash option

This is the EXACT problem I've been having. I have a static theme that keeps panning out as I go from system to system. It doesn't happen on roms as I have one theme for whole system. But the for the main menu, when it goes from theme to theme, it randomly pans all my artwork out of the screen.

It sounds like this is the built in behavior and not something that's controlable. Is it possible to force it to always use the same transition? If I only have one transition in Media\Main Menu\Video\Override Transitions, I still get the random transitions. What is Override Transitions supposed to do? Am I using it wrong?

it's a great front end. but would be nice if you had more control over art by adding a non fixed back ground have every thing that can be modified and changed by png's
