Amiiga WinUAE bezel and fullscreen help

Recommended Posts

Im not sure if its due to the new module. Basically Im restarting from freah and doing everything art wise from the ground up one system at a time. Aimga is my current. No problem loading the game as per Rons Guide. As per normal they run without fear!

But however now when they are in fullscreen they do not look the same as they used to look? I used to have say a 4:3 window of the game around the top middle of the screen. No borders and always kind of OK as it was always a good enough size.

I never used bezels, but now Im trying to use bezels with all non 16:9 games to get the look correct.

Problem is that now the game without the bezel loads ok. But I get a kind of console along the bottom with CPU HDD etc information in it. The screen looks much bigger but still not massive... just slightly bigger than before,

Now if I use a bezel I still get the console information along the bottom of the window in the bezel. All my bezel for this system is a windo anyways it doesnt look out of place, but I want the actual game to fill the hole... not just ratio itself inside it... too much wasted space and does not look right.

Its hard to explain and I cant show a screen shot as the "print screen" button seems to only capture the actual game? It does not capture the bezel or the console bit on the bottom.

Has anyone else had this issue? I tried to change the module settings but Im getting noting???

Sounds like you have two issues.

Seeing the status bar can easily hidden. If the module is current, in the module settings there are bezel offsets. Increase the bottom offset. I use 60 if i remember right. ;)

The other is the emulator scaling setting. Again, from memory, open the emulator and load your config (amigahost.uae). On the left click on filters. One of the options on the top right you can set "Automatic Scaling". Then save your config and test.

Thanks,

Ron

Had this to. Didnt do the automatic scaling but used a bezel from the ftp that also cover the top and bottom of the screen

Basically no amiga games ran fullscreen on real hardware. Play with winuae filter but consider that you'll change aspect ratio to get a fullscreen. Honestly that was i got used to do on my amiga monitor back in the days...

As always Ron, words of wisdom :) I have got it sorted, seemed the main problem was the offset so thanks guys for that. Managed to get it "almost" the way I want it. Seems I may have some issues with my XML?? Never noticed before but if you watch the vid, you will see the letters dont match up with the games?? Also I have no age stuff?? Does anyone else have anything more detailed or "complete?"

Anyways, here you go... I didnt like the fade screen as normal, wrong feel. I made another and I also meda a new bezel, trying to keep the feel. If anyone want me to share just give me a shout :)

Again, thanks so much gys.... almost done with the Amiga! yaaaaaaaaaay

...snip...

Austin,

I do love that fade and bezel. ;)

Someone should make a Letters set using the original Topaz font for the Amiga. ;)

Please share that bezel and fade art so I can include it in the HyperLaunch Media.

Thanks,

Ron

Thanks Ron... I just dont like the default bezels sometimes... need something that gives the feel of the system not just fills the screen. Something I knocked up quick to fill the gap until I work on it in detail. Bloody upgrades on all systems first though :(

I am not sure of the protocol for that stuff, so just place the art you wanted into your folder :) Have fun and as always if you need anything just give me a shout.... always happy to help :)

I would like to include it in this project.

The files and ini files should follow the naming convention (or name them whatever and i'll fix it) and be placed in a folder of your name in _Upload Here\_HyperLaunch Media\Bezels\Submissions Open.

Then just post to that thread that it's there and i'll test and release.

Thanks,

Ron

PS: There are hundreds of bezels in there already. ;) Not just the default ones.

I have bezels working for this system. Let me know if you still have issues with this.

So far the only systems I have running full screen without a bezel are the Sega Saturn, ScummVM. With the Saturn (SSF) it works but you only get a tiny window and I hate that. ScummVM also works but you can't add any filters in order to get 4:3 so the games look really ugly.
