AAE roms missing from zip

I run AAE and most games work.

I cannot for the life of me get Asteroids, Asteroids Deluxe, Battlezone or Starwars to run, says, missing roms.

I have tried every conceivable combination.

Parent rom, every rom revision, even placed all files from all revisions into one zip file called it asteroids but still it says missing roms.

I have windows 7 64 bit.

All the latest HS HL updates.

The correct XML.

Has anyone else had this problem.

They are all the correct rom versions with the correct names?

If so then maybe there is a component missing inside the zip folder?

I just started playing with AAE a few hours ago, but those roms work for me.

It is named asteroid in the roms folder, I just call it asteroids.

I have mame 0.160 with all the latest 0.160 roms but I've put the roms into the AAE\Roms folder and changed the AAE.ini to point to the AAE\Roms folder.

If I change it to point to MAME\Roms or AAE\Roms I get the following error but only on the games I mentioned.

A required Rom was not found in zip. Use aae gamename - veryifyroms to audit yout romset.

I love the way AAE displays it's graphics. I can't recall if I moved the roms from an older set or if AAE is using my 160 set. All mine work if it is pointing to my unmerged set

Why not just use Mame with some vector hlsl effects applied?

As near as I can tell AAE looks worlds better and more real than MAME.

I spent a couple hours yesterday playing your custom vector ini's trying to get MAME to look as good as AAE. But no matter what I did AAE still blows it away just with its default settings. There was really no comparison, especially with point size and vector trails (which I couldn't even find a MAME setting for)

My problem is that AAE doesn't seem to work well with Hyperlaunch bezels or widescreen. There isn't by any chance a Vector emulator other than AAE or MAME is there?

I did exactly what Potts did. Create a new folder for aaee keep the ones for aaee and update mame

Yeah. I seem to have an separate folder for AAE with about 70 older roms in it. I haven't tried pointing AAE towards my 160.1 folder.

Bezels work fine for me in AAE-what's not working for you?

The AAE bezels work fine, but AAE was made for 4:3 monitors and there doesn't seem to be a way to keep the game image to 4:3 and have the bezels fill the outside of the screen like Hyperlaunch does. It wants to stretch and distort the image. AAE will also work with Hyperlaunch bezels (which is what I want), but not well. For some reason instead of filling the widescreen with the bezel art like MAME, it seems to squish it up.

Hopefully I just need to find the right combination of settings. I still think I'd prefer stretched AAE over correct mame simply because AAE looks so much more authentic, even stretched.

Like I said, there was a ddl file missing from the AAE folder and all roms work fine although after trying to edit the ank it appears in red, glad the post has grown some healthy conversation.

Are you using the latest AAE update 2? That's the one that crashes on startup for me.

I was using the latest version but reverted to update one, all is well now thanx

Why did you revert back to 1? I'm on update 1, but need to get update 2 to work so widescreen works (plus it has a ton of other improvements)

Someone suggested that update 2 didn't work for some, update was making AAE crash outside HSHQ and inside HSHQ on my PC.

Now I'm having problems with the AAE ahk file saying

invalid CRC module may have been tampered with

AAE is usually a breeze to setup but as I said before the version I downloaded initially had a dll missing which stopped it running.

I read also that MAME doesn't emulate the AAE roms the way that AAE does, with the glow et cetera.

So it isn't just me then (unless you were reasding my other post about this issue). I can't even get update 2 to work outside of HSpin/Launcher.

I downloaded mine from the AAE site alpha, then update 1 then update 2. All the files were there, it just doesn't work.

Where did you get yours at?

My initial download was from the http://pages.suddenlink.net/aae/ (This didn't work with update two).

I downloaded the alpha version from above link, updated to version 1 then I update to version two.

I ran the emulator outside of HLHQ and it just opened and closed without running.

Someone on the forum suggested Only using The alpha version with update 1 as some people including myself have had problems with update two.

So I started again.

Downloaded AAE alpha and ran it outside HLHQ, it worked.

So I downloaded update one, copied it over, ran AAE and with update one installed, it ran. I didn't bother with update 2.

AAE would still not start in HLHQ but I noticed that aae.dll was not situated in the main AAE folder. I copied the dll from somewhere else across to the AAE folder and now it works inside HLHQ and HS.

From what I can remember I got the version that works, that has the missing aae.dll file from a previous effort to use HS. ASUS had sold me a dodgy mobo and it took me many months before they would play ball, so I have had to start all over again.

Strange though, because out of interest I opened update 2, it has the missing dll but I only used that, I didn't copy the video ini from update two.

I've figured out that it is actually VJoy that causes AAE update 2 to crash. If you disable VJoy in the Windows Device Manager (it's under human interface devices) then it can run the update 2 .exe file.

AAE update 2 fixes exactly what I was hoping it would fix. True widescreen 4:3 support. Full size. Major Havoc works perfectly (and looks several times better than in MAME 160.1). It's awesome.

Problem is I have to have VJoy enabled to be able to play some PC games like MKX and disabling VJoy in Keymapper doesn't help.

If anyone knows of any tricks to disable VJoy in HyperlaunchHQ when running AAE, or even better a script that can actually go into device manager and disable it directly that would be awesome.
