acidarmitage Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 When I have Hyperspin shelled... everything moved to crawl because HyperMarquee was taking around a gig of memory (my system has only 2gb), is that to be expected (might thinking about buying another stick of RAM)? Had to disable it for now
Antos Posted August 3, 2014 Author Posted August 3, 2014 When I have Hyperspin shelled... everything moved to crawl because HyperMarquee was taking around a gig of memory (my system has only 2gb), is that to be expected (might thinking about buying another stick of RAM)? Had to disable it for now Thanks for asking. I think I know what caused your problem, you are probably using HM coupled with EDS with some not optimal settings within EDS. EDS is a .exe launcher, and it will launch thousands of them. EDS will not close them if the settings are not appropriate, resulting of a major linear increase in memory demand. Now, I will be happy to support you. Please send me your EDS settings and I will tell you what is not accurate also for the benefit of other users that might facing this issue. A hint, check your CBR checkbox (CBR: Close current app Before Re-starting a new one - within the CLI). Cheers! !!!! Update, see post 79. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
Antos Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 When I have Hyperspin shelled... everything moved to crawl because HyperMarquee was taking around a gig of memory (my system has only 2gb), is that to be expected (might thinking about buying another stick of RAM)? Had to disable it for now Ok, I have found the problem: Memory leak from Animated Gif. For now, I do not have a solution. It is related to an external library that plays animated gif from CodePlex, a Microsoft partner. The problem (documented case inerrant from this library) it creates a memory leak that will result in a 1gig memory consumption from a small gif image of 900k. Other than that, Animated gif plays very well. The bug doesn`t come from HyperMarquee, but I will try to find a resolution or a workaround to solve this. I am sorry for inconveniences. Now, if your PC has a lot of RAM, you should be ok, but being aware will let you make the best decision for yourself. NB: The problem will NOT arise if you do not use animated gif. Thanks to acidarmitage to report the issue. Technical details http://wpfanimatedgif.codeplex.com/ I will update this post as soon as I have a fix. Antos. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System

Griffindodd Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 Looking forward to testing this tonight on my new video marquee build. I do use LEDBlinky to manage all of my button lighting and colors, hoping this will play nicely alongside. MvC Revolution | Identity Crisis 51/32/29 | Little Ms. Pac-Man | Paperboy: Exclusive Edition

Originally I set up HyperLauncher to run HyperMarquee via the MAME AHK and then I finally got the EDS server up and running. Now I have EDS do I still need the modified MAME AHK in HyperLauncher or can I take that out again?? Thanks for the video, plus your cab is an awesome piece of art! HyperMarquee using EDS doesn't requier any other piece of software to run. So you do not need any ahk scripts to manage your marquee. Understanding that HyperLaunch is an excellent app to manage everything on the emulation side. Thanks for testing HyperMarquee & EDS. Do not hesitate to submit bugs or simply improvments ideas. Griffindodd Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 OK Great I will continue to work with it. For some reason it wasn't showing any system images even though I set the path in the setup options, I'll go back and play some more to get familiar with it better. Antos Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 Make sure that you are using the latest version 0.3.9. Let me know, I will be happy to bring you support. But, it is a good thing to take the time to get familiar with it. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
sevenseal Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I have the same issue as Griddindodd when its comes to showing any system images while scrolling through the main menu, been playing around with this issue for more than a week, not sure if i am missing a event parameter that is not being sent from hyperspin itself. just making a report to you, Antos, that it is present for me as well, let me know if i can do anything to help make things better or test anything. here is a video demoing the issue if you like logs or setting files just let me know for reviewing purpose? sorry about the horrible recording, best i can do with a 2 year old girl on my leg.... she love the cab.
Griffindodd Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Yep still the same issue. I can't display system images, I simply get the blank grey panel. This is when I am using wildcards in the default configuration files and the MAME configuration files. Can't seem to get anything to show up for any games in other systems using default with wildcards either despite putting in a secondary artwork path to the art files in the structured Hyperspin media folder. Thinking about it I think it's Systems with spacing in their pathing names that have the issues displaying the game related Marquees/themes as I know it works for Daphne based on the default rules. That still seems to leave the issue with the System marquees though. MvC Revolution | Identity Crisis 51/32/29 | Little Ms. Pac-Man | Paperboy: Exclusive Edition
Antos Posted September 4, 2014 Author Posted September 4, 2014 Hi guys, Ok, I know what is appening for the system artworks. Actually, Hyperspin itself do not throw any events at the main wheel level unfortunatly. So Hypermarquee knows the system only once you are in a specific emulator wheel. Now, I know that there is a workaround (used within hyperspeech for example) that I can integrate within hypermarquee. I will try my best to add this for the next EDS version. How did you manage to show the video on the Marquee LCD in between the menu systems?? Or is it an animated GIF? P.S. Excellent app Antos, I'm setting it up and is really helps with the wow factor. Antos is there a way to display several images on the Marquee LCD at the same time, like a 'MAME' background image plus the image from the Wheel menu on top of it....?

You can do it with the actual version 0.3.9. The upcoming version will also have direct support for background, foreground (alpha channel) and transitions (video or shader transition). For now, the way to do it is to use Event Dispatch System (EDS) with multiple HyperMaquee instances (they can overlaps). You can have a background image with dynamic text and artwork in front. Please look at EDS and HyperMarquee documentation. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
lildivaaa Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 sorry about that, i change the video to public, i didnt realize the videos were default set to private. i hope it helps Hello sevenseal, I was just observing that your cabinet is an Xtension arcade cabinet from Rec Room Masters, with an X-Arcade TankStick controller. Is that correct? If so...is it the standard size or the XL size cabinet??? Just wondering because if it's the standard size cabinet....what size marquee monitor are you using??? Very curious, Craig
sevenseal Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 craig, its the xl size its a 29 inch ultrawide screen
DrZhark Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Thanks Antos!! I'm using EDS with Hypermarquee and Hyperspeech, it works really nice so far. I still have to integrate ledblinky, but I need the hardware first. I'll try the overlap with several Hypermarquees to see how that goes. Thanks for the hint.
Antos Posted September 12, 2014 Author Posted September 12, 2014 Sounds good. Any ideas on the problem with systems that have spaces in their name path for example 'Super Nintendo Entertainment System' Yes, you have to put the wildcards (fields) between double quotes. See EDS documentation for a specific exemple. Please let me know if it doesn't work. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
inf3rnum Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Hello, I tried to configure hypermarquee but can not. I tried with EDS, but I can not make it work in any way. Someone can help me? or tell me the steps to set it from 0? ty for the work
