Antos Posted November 29, 2014 Author Posted November 29, 2014 WHAT'S NEW: - Revised Transition Shader engine (code clean up and optimization) - 6 new transition shaders (Banded Swirl, Crumble, Rotate Crumble, Swirl, SwirlGrid, Wave) - Thanks to Shazam - Bug fixes and other minor updates. Setup: Same has usual, but for the video setup, I included, in the download folder, vlc 3.0 git where a simple reference to VLC main folder is needed. !! Please note that previous Hyper Marquee (V0.3.9) Config files are not compatible with this version. It is strongly recommended to start testing from scratch. NB: - This is an Alpha Tester Version, this means that it is NOT a stable version and it still has bugs. You are welcome to test it and report bugs and bring your impressions. Many thanks! - Revision D is not compatible with Revision C config file for Transition Shaders. You may encounter problems and may need to adjust you config file under Rev. D. Please send me any bugs you find. It is expected to have a beta Hyper Marquee 0.4.0 ready for Christmas. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System

Antos Posted November 29, 2014 Author Posted November 29, 2014 Hi Albert, i know that you are using google translate, makes it difficult to understand, sorry. Is the error trace in Portuguese? When you are reporting bugs, can you please be more precise and explicit for me to reproduce it? Please, - Indicate the version used under which the bug occured. - The steps taken to produce the bug. - Any specific configuration that could be useful for me to know. - Finally, what were you trying to do. Thanks for testing! HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System

Antos Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 WHAT'S NEW: - Bug fixed reported by Albert within Revision D. Please use Revision E from now on. You have to download the complete package since one dll is new (shaders.dll). NB: I am not coding on version 0.4 anymore, so the goal is to stabilize it for beta release. Thanks, Keep testing please. Xtra9268 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Went through the instructions in the HyperMarquee pdf and I'm stuck on this part: "Specify your image folder for the system(s) that you like." Seems like such a simple, straight forward thing but for me it's not making any sense. Has a video been created showing the steps to setup HyperMarquee and EDS? I can do hardcore Web UI Development but I'm having a tough time figuring out these two apps.
sevenseal Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 make sure vlc is in the folder of hypermarquee. next in the "gobal setting" tab select the directory location of vlc.exe under the "vlc folder" section of the tab. select the "hs theme" tab and select a default theme. the default them will be used to display your videos. when you create a setting, select "hyperspin_theme" then select mame as your system for example. thats all you have to do for hypermarquee. next gotta set eds with your hyperspin_theme under the hypermarquee applitcation section well you can use the artwork section and add location with the .mp4 as you source. I will help more after I pick up dinner g2g for now sevenseal

sevenseal Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 thanks Antos! now the secret out that I am member lol =b I appreciate the warm welcome that you have provided
sevenseal Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 for Hydra setting you should try for EDS, hypermarquee is label as MAME-Marquee_Video, take look at the image belong how that is placed in the parameter section and pid the setting is created with the label MAME-Marquee_Video, Hypermarquee setting for artwork section to load the video. that how it should be setup as Sevenseal
Xtra9268 Posted December 7, 2014 Posted December 7, 2014 Hi everyone. I just wanted to give a short review for HyperMarquee and EDS. Both of these are powerful apps! There's work that needs to be done in order to make them easier to use and customizable but overall they are great apps and wonderful additions to the Hyperspin community. The need for these tools spawned from an idea I had for an arcade cabinet I'm working on. Instead of showing a generic marquee image I wanted to play a video based on whatever game I playing... or at the very least display the logo of the game I'm playing. The solution was this 10" x 5.62" LCD screen with controller board, keyboard controller and power supply for $180 https://www.adafruit.com/products/1303 It should fit into the marquee of this cabinet I bought http://www.recroommasters.com/32_Pro_Upright_Xtension_Arcade_Cabinet_Emulator_p/rm-xt-32-pro-ee.htm I also wanted to give huge props to Sevenseal for his tireless efforts to help me customize HyperMarquee and EDS for my needs. This kind of community support is so rare but it is a testament to Hyperspin's community. In appreciate I've donated to Antos
Antos Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 There is a solid community of passionate and generous people within this forum indeed! Passion is the key, nothing more for the majority of us. That's why this is so fun and constructive here, along with lots of knowledge available. I most admit that people find the proper balance between providing constructive feedback and encouragement words. I am thankful for those! I am also taking this few lines to thank the generous donators! Even it is obvious that we are not doing this for money and HyperMarquee and EDS will always be free, a small donation of your choice to encourage us or just say a thanks gives us wings and the motivation to push limits further. For transparency purposes, HyperMarquee and EDS raised 85$ so far. Positive critics from users: In more than one occasion, we have been reported that our solutions are hard to configured but very easy and powerful once completed. Sevenseal and I will have a talk and see what can be done to improve and facilitate the initial configuration process. But definitely a quick video with a step by step walk through will be available sooner than later. upcoming candies; - Control Panel Viewer capability within HyperMarquee is under development right now. - HM/EDS: Providing real-time download for missing artworks, hyperlist & gameinfo when selecting a game. (optional feature under consideration) - Providing 3D support to display cartridges, cabinets and more should be considered next year. - EDS: Providing utilization statistics (graphs and charts) should be considered next year. Any comments? HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
Antos Posted December 7, 2014 Author Posted December 7, 2014 WHAT'S NEW: - Bug fixes and other minor updates. (Bug reported by Albert & Hydra) - New Feature: Added video volume control (within artwork section). Setup: Same has usual, but for the video setup, I included, in the download folder, vlc 3.0 git where a simple reference to VLC main folder is needed. NB: - This is an Alpha Tester Version, this means that it is NOT a stable version and it still has bugs. You are welcome to test it, report bugs and bring your impressions. Many thanks to do so! - Revision F is not compatible with previous Revision config versions. You may encounter problems and may need to adjust you config file under Revision F. Please send me any bugs you find. Thank for testing (In depth if you have time). It is expected to have a beta Hyper Marquee 0.4.1 ready for Christmas!! HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
Chappie Posted December 8, 2014 Posted December 8, 2014 Any chance we can get a listing of known front-ends that work with EDS and Hypermarquee? I know that Mala does not work but are there known Mame front-ends that do work (besides Hyperspin)? Chappie
Antos Posted December 9, 2014 Author Posted December 9, 2014 Hello Chappie, Sevenseal and I are focussing on having a production version for Hyperspin soon, hopefully before Christmas. So, if you read between the lines, there aren't official stable version for any front-ends, including Hyperspin. Once we have a robust solution for HS, then will look at supporting other F-Es. Now, that doesn't mean it doesn't work for other F-Es, but we never tried. In theory, every F-E that supports LedBlinky should be easy to integrate with our solutions. Glad that you like our products. Stay tuned for further announcements! HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
gooch Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I love this software, thanks for everything you've done. A couple of thoughts in testing the latest version of Hyper Marquee: - Is there a way to preload a portion of Hyper Marquee into memory so when a new marquee window is called via CLI so it is more responsive? The reason I ask is because I want an in-game hotkey on my cabinet control panel that would instantly display on the marquee the control panel and what each button does based on the running game. It's fairly fast, but the snappier I can make it the better. - When using the transitions and the image resolution is different, it is a bit jumpy because it first rescales the current image to the resolution of the new image, *then* performs the transition. If this image size could be adjusted mid-transition it might hide it better. I am using the Pixelate effect, but it does it for any transition. - Also when using the transitions it seems like the images are degraded a bit. The image below on the left is the raw image of one of my marquees for the Main Menu (I use FileWatcher for this), the one on the right is a screen capture of the output using Hyper Marquee. Notice the jagged edges around the curves for the one on the right, and this does not happen when not using transitions. The image is 1366x768 and the monitor is set to this resolution as well so it's not a scaling issue. - Is it possible to prevent the layers from displaying transparencies? This one is because I have the 4 x artwork files used as well as the background image. It results in things like the below because I use HyperSpin wheel art as an option if there is no true marquee artwork.
Antos Posted December 10, 2014 Author Posted December 10, 2014 Thank you Gooch. I like this post, those are very valid comments. I will get back to you on those when possible. I will split your requests in two baskets; new requests & bugs. I have noticed myself that pixelate does that, but I was too swamped with 1000 things to pay more attention to it. I will definitely look at it. HyperMarquee is now frozen for new requests but I will certainly fix bugs or strange behavior. Let me see what I can do. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System

hi gooch, this is pretty interesting concept that you have mention about your results. from what I can tell and my thoughts about this is HyperMarquee does some rendering from directly from your graphic card, especially when using transitions and shaders, everything is directly depending on your graphic card's gpu and how the hardware process the item. depending on the combination together, you will recieve different results. Antos will correct me if I am wrong. while the raw image are process in a control environment that is based on software rendering. this is a hardware vs. software process result.
Xtra9268 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Hi Antos and Sevenseal. Here's a video recording to show, with both your help, the progress I've made! If you watch the video you'll notice logos don't always load on the initial selection. I sometimes have to select another game then come back to load the logo. Is there any way to preload artwork so that this doesn't happen?

I would encourage to changw hsfilewatcher 1.0.0, I had that issue for me, and I remain with it. hsfilewatcher 1.1.0 seem to work fine for most but not for everybody and have the issue that you display.

I would recommend for the downgrade because you are displaying the same issue that I had when I used hs filewatcher 1.1.0, please try it to see if it make a different
