knewlife Posted June 19, 2014 Posted June 19, 2014 This looks great... but testing it in my setup i noticed that it dont use ledblink data to change on the fly OR it does??? in that case... how to setup to use ledblink... right now i use hyperlaunch to create / close the "windows" with the images and data every time i launch/close a game. knewlife Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 any chance anyone can make a quick video on getting this going lol i guess im just to slow to get this running on my setup. any help much appreciated Is actually pretty dificult to understand believe me I know, specialy the system part (why you need to select a system to create a marquee?) but is a consequence of this app not having everything ready for you to use... You have to create the contents. My advice is you to create one marquee for mame for example... Then launch it from an ahk or bat to see how it looks... Then you can use hyperlainch user functions to launch and close the app. Remember that you can launch more than one instance. Antos Posted June 24, 2014 Author Posted June 24, 2014 Yeah, a video will be very useful, if someone would like to do one, that would be awesome, but please wait for the next release that will be available soon. For the system part, well you are right, there maybe no apparent reasons why it is needed to choose a specific system. But we need to keep in mind that if we don't set our folder structure in a way that all resources can be accessed dynamically, then having a specific path (config) per system would be needed (HM supports both). The tough part is, as soon you try to make an application powerful, more it becomes complex. Tough trade, I will try to make it more intuitive, I guess I haven't succeeded so far. Thanks for your comments, they are very useful and constructive! HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
ninjalo Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 I've got it set up and launching properly with MAME, but I'm curious, does Hyper Marquee support dynamic images? It seems as though I'm stuck with one image, I can't figure out for the life of me how to get it to choose the marquee for the game I'm playing. If it doesn't, how would I go about setting up the individual marquees? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks for this great piece of software!

Thanks for this great piece of software! there are variables calles system and filename if i remember right that can be put in the image path with right click... Antos... I think i must wait your new version before critique your great app hahaha.... But really as I understand your app (maybe am not right) it must have the system name IN the first part of the file name. I think it should be a parameter like the romname. So you pass the system name to the app without the need of selecting it when creating the marquee, thus you can use one single file for all system. But if you need a different marquee for a system you can write a if in the ahk. Or maybe you can use your app as is but if an specific system file isn't find the app search for a Default_#*$% config but pass the system name variable. Hooo and in that case the systemnanes can still be selected... They should come from the main menu XML like a drop box but allow you to edit the name and of course select the default. Just some ideas :-) EmuLink (Canal de Youtube) | Main Menu Changer | HyperArchiver Version 0.0.0.17 | HSBezel
ninjalo Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 there are variables calles system and filename if i remember right that can be put in the image path with right click... I saw the "wildcards" but they don't seem to work. Even if I set the image path to this, for example, I:\HyperSpin\Media\MAME\Marquees\[filename].png it still doesn't seem to pull anything dynamically. The one thing I did notice is in the Hyper Marquee.conf file, it seems as though you have to specify an image name for it to display anything. I noticed it was set to MSPACMAN by default, I changed that filename to 1942 and the marquee for 1942 popped up just fine. Unless there is something simple I'm missing, it seems as though I'll need an AHK script that will automatically overwrite the config with the name of the ROM that I choose when I'm playing to get the proper marquee to display. I do have Marquee Magician up and running though, it will suit my needs until I can figure out Hyper Marquee, or until the new release of it comes out next month. Thanks knewlife for trying to help
albert Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Using HyperMarquee within HyperSpin. too easy Waiting out the HyperSpin Event Integrator Proxy to get even easier.
ninjalo Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Nice video! Anyway you could type up a small guide for setting up Hyper Marquee? I'd greatly appreciate it as it has way more features than Marquee Magician. Thanks!

mrxtreme Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 very nice setup! thats what im trying to do with mine but can't seem to be able to figure it out. I'll just wait for a super cool guide from the pros on here Using HyperMarquee within HyperSpin. too easy Waiting out the HyperSpin Event Integrator Proxy to get even easier.
Antos Posted July 2, 2014 Author Posted July 2, 2014 NEWS UPDATE - 2014/07/02 - The beta version v.0.3.6.0 is now available for download. (this is a beta evaluation version for testers only) Please send me your comments and impressions. See first post of this thread for download. A short video shall come soon. (although, English is not my mother tongue, volunteers are welcome to produce a short video as a quick guide ). Thanks, HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
gooch Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 Is there a way to have a 3rd option for artwork? I want my search order to be like this: 1) C:\Arcade\Emulators\MAME\marquees\[filename].png 2) C:\Arcade\HyperSpin\Media\[system]\Images\Wheel\[filename].png 3) C:\Arcade\HyperSpin\HyperMarquee\default_marquee.png The 3rd option not only serves as a fallback for games that have neither a real marquee or wheel art, but also during system selection. Also, is there a way to have HyperMarquee launch without a quick display of the border? It sort of flashes momentarily and would be more aesthetically pleasing if it launched 'silently'. Thanks! Great work on this!
Antos Posted July 3, 2014 Author Posted July 3, 2014 As of now no, only two options. But those are good comments, and will be implemented within the next version of HyperMarquee. Although, the flash could be considered as a bug and gets fixed in 'priority' list as a quick update. Today I am doing a quick video for EDS Thanks gooch. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System

I am using trial & error to figure out the best parameters for each launching item. I'll post my config over at the EDS thread once I've got something working.
Antos Posted July 3, 2014 Author Posted July 3, 2014 gooch, for now it's possible to avoid borders to flash momentarily by using Named Pipe communication with EDS instead of CLI. But I will fix this in a near future. (first item on my bug list). Thanks! HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System

But I will fix this in a near future. (first item on my bug list). Thanks! Good suggestion, it still flashes the border when I first load my cab, but all additional times are hidden by using named pipes. I have an AHK script I use for starting HyperSpin that I've added this line to: Run "C:\Arcade\HyperSpin\HyperMarquee\Hyper Marquee.exe" false MAME-Marquee_Image And I've got EDS configured like the screen shot below. It works fantastic, but I'm looking forward to a 3rd option in the search order like I mentioned before, or possibly just an option to add a background image globally so I can use the image below when I'm not in the game select menu. It might make sense to add animated GIF support if it's not difficult, it's been a goal of mine to animate this. I also have had some crashing problems with HyperMarquee around HiToText and any text in general, but once I've pinpointed what I think might be causing it (on my rig at least) I'll post it.

Antos Posted July 4, 2014 Author Posted July 4, 2014 Gooch, in reply to your post #69. Yes, your setup is correct. Nice artwork by the way! But I believe this setup can be more strait forward. Did you tried to integrate both command together using Pipe(CLI)? See image. News: I am working on your 2 requests: I have fixed the flash on HM opening and I am now adding a third alternative artwork to HM. You should see an updated version in a week... Cheers, HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System

Naming the arcade with a Hungarian word got me approval to build the thing. I did try the PIPE(CLI) setting with the parameters for Hyper Marquee like you suggest, but there were a few problems with doing it this way. Of course when I tried it I was still not familiar with the software so I could have been doing it wrong. I'll try again and let you know. Thanks so much for incorporating those requests. I really appreciate it.

Lol, this is a very good idea to buy the peace, with all the hours of coding I am putting lately in it, I feel that I will have to replace the Daphne picture on my control panel by one of my wife pictures. I had a director in the early 2000s that was Hungarian (first generation I believe). Mr. Tulipan, which retired few years after, was very supportive, good with people and gives good advices. At the end, this is all about passion, fun and sharing something special that we have in common. I have very good memories of my friends and I coding in assembler on a C64 trying to do video games. Few 15 years old kids, with a special pass to use the C64 LAB at the university (close to Ottawa, Canada). Yes, those where first accessible LABs where Commodores where almost everywhere. Here are 2 images of my control panel; from CGI design to reality; (That was back in 2005, still really enjoying that panel today). But Daphne may have to leave...
