or8ital Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 If your main monitor is 800x600 then set your resolution in hyperspin (not hyperspin helper) to 800x600 and turn off full screen. That typically fixes things. Also in windows make sure monitor #1 is your 800x600 resolution monitor and the monitor #2 is your marquee monitor. Thomas Moxcey Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Thanks. Ok so I thought for sure it was going to be because my Marquee was monitor 3. I was like yeah that will fix it for sure. I had some DVI vs VGA issues with DVI taking control and naming itself monitor 1. So I had to switch every thing over to VGA so I could get the monitors to have the correct numbers in the windows resolution settings. I have always had my HS resolution set to 800x600 with full screen off. Like I said I have read threw all 50 pages of this post twice. I have tried every thing. Can you think of any other places other then the HS settings and emulator settings that may need to be changed to 800x600? So this is what I did this morning after reading your last post. I went and changed the #'s in the HSH settings D=1 M=2 C=3. Shut the computer down and unplugged all the monitors except for the main display 800x600. Started it up to be sure it works with the one screen. Every thing was good to go. So I shut it down and plugged the marquee monitor in and restarted it. Checked the resolution settings 1360x768 and screen placement with windows. Every thing was good. Tested with HSH and the game and marquee all works just fine. Looks great. I love this program. Thanks again! Then I shut it all down and plugged in the 3rd monitor and restarted it. Controls monitor is set at 1366x768 and placed below the main screen. At that point the desktops all look good. I start HSH and then the marquee image shows up but its shoved up past the top frame of the monitor. You can see about 2" of blank screen at the bottom of the marquee monitor. The middle screen or Display screen works great. Every thing fills the screen and the game loads just fine. But then the 3rd screen for the controls has a area at the top of the screen about 2 to 3 inches that you can see the desktop image. The controls image loads but its way too big for the monitor. The image is lined up on the left edge of the screen but it goes way off threw the right side and the bottom edge of the monitor. You can mess with the windows settings placement of the windows and it just moves the gaps of missing area around. I thought maybe it was the resolution settings on the controls monitor? So I tried every setting and I got the same results with slight variances of the empty gaps. I have tried every thing I can think of to try to get this to line up correctly. If you have any ideas please let me know. If you want I can put a quick video together to show you what its doing. I can also post what ever logs you may need. Just let me know what you might want to see. I hope I was able to explain every thing ok. Please let me know if you have any other questions. I did have the marquee and display working great for a couple of weeks before I got the 3rd monitor. So I can only think it might be the monitor. I changed that out with another one and still the same results. Thanks again for taking the time to create this cool must have program for arcade systems. Also a big thanks for taking the time to help us out with crazy questions and stuff. Thanks man... Oh yeah did you get a cabinet going on yet? I'm not a wood worker ether so I went on Craig's list and found a used PGA Golf game. We played that for a few months then I decided to combine my HyperSpin set up with the cabinet. I gutted it and got a fresh start. Its a old school 4:3 monitor but that what the old arcade games were made for so I'm happy with it. Just thought I would throw that out there for you to think about.
or8ital Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 Bear with me. Haven't looked at the program in a while so I don't remember how I have everything setup. Can you post your settings? I think I also write out some sort of debug that might show the resolutions. Can you post that too? Info on HyperspinHelper Software: http://hyperspinhelper.wordpress.com. Thomas Moxcey Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Where might I find the debug that might show the resolutions? Thanks
or8ital Posted June 1, 2014 Author Posted June 1, 2014 That's what I was looking for. That all looks correct. I must not be writing out the resolutions of the other displays. I'm stumped. Thomas Moxcey Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 I have uninstalled it and reinstalled it twice now hoping that would fix it but no luck. Is there any place that designates the screen size or resolution any place in the code?
Thomas Moxcey Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Hey Or8ital. I was looking at my HyperLaunch Log and I noticed the resolutions on my 2nd and 3rd monitors are weird. Check it out. INFO | +N/A | Main - HyperLaunch v3.0.0.9 21:04:07:603 | HL | INFO | +0 | Main - System Specs: HyperLaunch Dir: C:\HyperLaunch OS: WIN_XP Architecture: 32-bit (might not be accurate) OS Language: English_United_States OS Admin Status: Yes Monitor #1 (\\.\DISPLAY1): 800x600 (800x568 work) Monitor #2 (\\.\DISPLAY2): 1360x0 (1360x0 work) Monitor #3 (\\.\DISPLAY3): 1366x1368 (1366x1368 work) Both the 2nd and 3rd display should be 1360x768 and 1366x768. Do you know where to access those settings? That might be the problem? What do you think? It also says I'm running WIN_XP but I'm actually running windows 7. Do you know where that setting maybe?
antros Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Works for me. Thanks Or8ital!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=74dYnChzLvw&list=PL7YlsofiTGgAtepk-qtyU_26q96ictzsZ
or8ital Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 There aren't any settings for the resolutions. The program reads it from windows. Can we get a screenshot of your display settings from windows? or8ital Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Sorry on the hyperlaunch log I think that's normal. It is showing it as an offset to the main window. Still a screenshot may help. Thomas Moxcey Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Can you see the bottom of the control screen is cut off? It also has about a 2" section at the top of the Control screen that shows the desktop image. I changed the Desktop background to blue and redid the screenshot so you can see the desktop showing. It works great with just 2 monitors. The Display and the Marquee. But as soon as I try to add the 3rd screen it get all weird. Do you think I need to try to reinstall all of HyperSpin again? I just updated every thing last month so I don't that that should do any thing but you never know? Any ideas? Thank you very much for your time.
or8ital Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Weird. Settings all look right. I don't think a re-install will help at all. In windows Try making the marquee image the bottom screen and the controls the top and see what it does. Then keep it that way and try changing the numbers for each in the settings and sees what that does. It will just make the mouse a little hard to use. lildivaaa Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Hey or8til! Just wanted to drop you a note to thank you for a wonderful addition to the HyperSpin world. Question though...many posts back in this tread, someone asked about being able to replace the default bezel. At the time, you suggested to simply replace the "bezel.png" that was located in "HyperSpinHelper\images\misc". But as I see it from a brand new installation of HyperSpinHelper, there is no "bezel.png" in that directory...or any other HyperSpinHelper directory. It almost seems like the default bezel is "baked" into the executable. Can you provide some guidance regarding replacing the default bezel? Thanks...Craig
Sneetch Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 Hey Sneetch did you get your screens figured out? I think I'm having the same problem you were. Thanks. I took a break on this issue to focus on other items that needed attention. But, just this weekend I have resolved my problem. My Resolution: Add 2nd Video card (non-SLI) Background: GTX260 Primary card - Believe when using CRT and LCD, the Nvidia card will always default to the DVI connection as the primary (swapping ports no change). I could never get windows to show CRT (Mako 27/29) as primary when LCD was connected (even disabled). As a result, adding a new card and having discreet paths, I no longer have an issue with primary/secondary display. the CRT is ALWAYS the primary. I seriously believe this is the best addition to my cab. I love it, and thanks again to or8ital! My Pinball Cabinet Build Thread
Sneetch Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I have introduced a new issue, which I have yet to figure out how to resolve, but it is only affecting exiting a MAME title and going back to hyperspin. ISSUE: Application window focus jumps to marquee.exe on monitor 2 (gtx210/LCD 1360x768) instead of returning to Hyperspin on exit of Mame titles. Variances observed: - Starting HS and playing Mame title first will always produce this issue - Starting HS and playing ANOTHER EMU (any) and then Mame, the issue is intermittent - Sometime works as expected (no issue) - Sometimes only specific Mame games on exit show focus issue - Sometimes ANY mame title will produce issue Previous steps 1) updated delay on exit (currently 2000, was 0) 2) played around with switching monitors for HSH ini (no difference to my issue) Next steps 1) I have recompiled the mame exe (no-nag) so will be restoring original exe to see if same error occurs. 2) Try updating apps to recent release Temp workaround Mapped "Shift-Button1" as Alt-Tab - Single press on exit of mame title will restore focus to Hyperspin My Pinball Cabinet Build Thread
lildivaaa Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 So for marquee images the code isn't in the program yet. If you are referring to a background for the controls, no such feature (though it could be added). If you want to change the background for the main screen bezel just replace the bezel.png file in the misc folder but that only shows while in hyperspin. Hello or8ital, I wanted to ask about this, replacing the default bezel. What you described above doesn't work for me...because there is no "bezel.png" file located in the misc folder, or any other folder for HyperSpin Helper for that matter. I have my own custom bezel I would love to use, but it really seems like the default bezel is somehow "baked" into the HyperSpin Helper EXE. Can you give me a bit more clarification on this please? Is it possible to change the default bezel? Thank you, Craig
or8ital Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 I'm doing this from memory but it should be in one of the folders if you search for it. It's only a bezel for hyperspin though. It won't work for the emulators. Info on HyperspinHelper Software: http://hyperspinhelper.wordpress.com. lildivaaa Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 or8ital, So...I did a search of the HyperSpin Helper directory...then the root HyperSpin directory...then my entire hard drive. I found many "bezel.png" files related to other things, but not the one in question for HyperSpin Helper. This is turning into a mystery that I'd like to solve. Can you please look into this for me? BTW - is there anyone else out there who either found the "bezel.png" file in question and replaced it, or didn't find it at all (as is my case)? HELP!!!

or8ital Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 By the way. I have a new version of this software that supports animated gifs for the default marquee image. lildivaaa Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 hmm it must be deleted off the FTP site. It should be in the misc folder. Attached is the default file. Ok, I get that there "should" have been a "bezel.png" included with your distribution of HyperSpin Helper. I guess what I'm saying is that, at the moment (without the default bezel.png being included with HyperSpin Helper), that it still is showing the default bezel.png. Even if I do put my own bezel.png in the misc. folder where it should be located, HyperSpin Helper does not use it and defaults to this mysterious missing bezel.png that should have been there in the first place...but is not. I'm beginning to feel like my installation is haunted or something. or8ital, can you help me figure this out?
