gooch Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Ah, I should have mentioned I use retroarch, awesome emulator btw, emulates many systems. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk I used Retroarch for a bit and liked it, but HyperSpin Helper works flawlessly with MESS so I've got most of my systems using it instead. If I remember correctly I've even got a few systems working with the marquee that or8ital's WordPress page says do not. Worth considering anyway...
or8ital Posted December 31, 2013 Author Posted December 31, 2013 I can take a look and see if I can get them working. May need some help getting them setup. If the program is trying to mess with moving the screen around it may just be a matter of two programs battling it out and hyperspin helper losing out. Info on HyperspinHelper Software: http://hyperspinhelper.wordpress.com. Allows you to enable two additional displays as a Marquee and a controls help screen as well as map UltraStik 360 controls. Works exclusively with Hyperspin.
KMHamel Posted January 1, 2014 Posted January 1, 2014 Has anyone done the controls xml for daphne? This program works great with daphne, you just have to go into the module and change the screen size.
KMHamel Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 Another question: Has anyone using this program gotten it to work with Xebra? I'm having trouble with the fullscreen. I can get the program off of fullscreen but the emu opens the window to the bottom left and you have to drag the window into position.
or8ital Posted January 2, 2014 Author Posted January 2, 2014 Does it work without HSH? HSH isn't emulator aware. It's only aware of its location and that of hyperspin. Most issues with HSH are an issue with the emulator handling multiple monitors. Most can be solved for setting the resolution in the emulator to match the resolution of your main display. Info on HyperspinHelper Software: http://hyperspinhelper.wordpress.com. Allows you to enable two additional displays as a Marquee and a controls help screen as well as map UltraStik 360 controls. KMHamel Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 No it does the same thing out of hyperspin. I was hoping someone found a fix so it could be used with hyperspinhelper. All I can see is that a module change is needed to drag the window to where it belongs. I can't find anywhere in hyperlaunchhq where you can address this problem. hopefully someone smarter than me will chime in.
or8ital Posted January 3, 2014 Author Posted January 3, 2014 I would try to reach out to the creators of the emulator and ask them to fix it for multiple monitors. Don't think hyperlaunch really addresses emulator positioning either. Info on HyperspinHelper Software: http://hyperspinhelper.wordpress.com. Allows you to enable two additional displays as a Marquee and a controls help screen as well as map UltraStik 360 controls. Works exclusively with Hyperspin.
djvj Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 It's not HyperLaunch's job to fix positioning of a fullscreen emulator like or8ital said. Are you sure the emu is truly in fullscreen mode? Because a window/application does not have a way to drag it if it is. It would not have a border or title bar. KMHamel Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Might be a misunderstanding, xebra using hyperlaunch goes into fullscreen like a champ. The problem lies in the resolution. When changing the resolution to match hyperspin, xebra goes into windows mode and opens a window in a oddball place. So maybe the right question should be: how can I change the resolution of xebra and keep it in fullscreen mode so it can be used with hyperspinhelper?
djvj Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 all your resolutions ideally should be your desktop res, not what HS is set to, which btw is only when HS is windowed. When HS is fullscreen, it is using your desktop res to size itself. KMHamel Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 yes, desktop 1920x1080, hyperspin 1920x1080. All the other emulators so far 1920x1080. Just having problems with xebra, can't seem to set the res.
djvj Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Sounds like your problem is with the emulator itself, and I didn't think that was even possible to have a fullscreen application somewhere else other than filling your screen. I've seen things like that happen when something else was trying to draw on top of it and it gets stuck in a state of limbo. Do you get this behavior manually running the emu and launching a game? KMHamel Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Ok, xebra works fine with this program. Just like anything else, when you concentrate on a problem you can loose site on the main objective and your thinking stays on only one track. I took a breather and stepped back an thought about the problem and realized that I got caught in the trap. Simple fix, this computer is for emulators and games (old), I didn't need the desktop resolution set to 1920x1280. I set hyperspin and the desktop to 1280x768. xebra opens in fullscreen at this resolution as do the other emulators. problem solved. hopefully all the other emulators I havn't done yet will be as simple. Now about the control graphics, Is there a way or can there be something done to add a background to the screen? What I was thinking was to use half the screen with global representation (or by the system background) of my controls (one side/player1) and the other side with a list of what the buttons do. Since the list right now is in the middle of the screen. Just an option since some keyboard games are going to need the whole screen just to list the controls.
or8ital Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Glad to hear you got it working. I'm having trouble visualizing the suggestion. Can you mock it up? Info on HyperspinHelper Software: http://hyperspinhelper.wordpress.com. Allows you to enable two additional displays as a Marquee and a controls help screen as well as map UltraStik 360 controls. KMHamel Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Simple idea: Half the screen with a representation of the players control (only need player 1 since the other players are the same). Have each button a different color. On the other half of the screen; have a list of what the buttons do with match button color. Can even do something to show a joystick or spinner is used. As for keyboard games all you need is a list since a keyboard is a keyboard. This would allow any new player who has never played the arcade play with confidence since not all controls (buttons) are setup the same on every control board. I'll see if I can make a simple graphic after work tonight.
or8ital Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 Gotcha. That's already been asked for an looked at. I can't do that simply and make it look clean. I think there is another program that attempts to do that. Info on HyperspinHelper Software: http://hyperspinhelper.wordpress.com. KMHamel Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Here's a simple graphic, I'm not much of an artist so I just snapped a pic and added color.
connorsdad Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Why not just rename this picture to the same as the rom it corresponds to and put it in the marquee folder. Create a layout for each rom. Sent from my SM-N9005 using Tapatalk

I was hoping to use them. but using the marquee as the control screen, when I'm done with the game setup, I guess I do need a new project.
or8ital Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 There is already a spot for a picture of the control panel on the controls screen if you want just a static image. KMHamel Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 There is already a spot for a picture of the control panel on the controls screen if you want just a static image. I see the controller images in the file, but none of them show on the screen, only rating and no. or players. Is there another setting I need to make? I see in the settings file that controller images is always true. I checked games in 3do,playstation,and dreamcast since they all have a controller image on file.
