zerojay Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Remove all movies from an install and see if it still crashes in about the same time period.
emb Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I did (from a post mentioned earlier). I ran it for a day without a crash. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2
emb Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 In addition to my previous post: I dont know if it just slows down how quickly the system will crash as there is not as much to allocate when there are no videos to play back (in terms of memory), or if it is directly linked to mp4 playback. Jumpstile Posted November 6, 2013 Author Posted November 6, 2013 Does anyone have a way of getting in touch with BadBoyBill and seeing if he can fix this bug? It would really be a shame to have to stop using this awesome front end for this, but as I said previously, this is a deal breaker for me. I've had enough... - J*
Mrmikey73 Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 Will the older version work? I'm running 1.2 on my cab and haven't noticed anything. I'm playing with the newer version on my pc but won't make the switch until all bugs are fixed.
emb Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I cannot downgrade because 1.2 does not have mp4 support. Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2
Mrmikey73 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I'm using 1.2 and with mame only I downloaded the newer mp4 videos then changed the extentions to flav and it's been working fine for me. Not sure if is the right thing to do but it's what I'm doing.
emb Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 That actually works? Wow, I didnt know you could do that. How long did you let it run for? Just a few minutes or for several hours (untouched)? Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk 2
Mrmikey73 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I've had it running for hours but never over night. I will be happy to try it out but I've never seen the exclamation point on mine. I'll have to wait until this weekend but I'll let it run all night this Friday.
Polemicist Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I've had it running for hours but never over night. I will be happy to try it out but I've never seen the exclamation point on mine. I'll have to wait until this weekend but I'll let it run all night this Friday. That would be really interesting. What hardware you running it on? Intel/Nvidia? I knew about the rename trick. Hmmm actually and obviously Hyperspin 1.2 used a player to play the videos and it was said you could only use FLV blah blah blah and if you want to use MP4 you need the new version. So the issue may in fact be the video player. I wonder what it is calling. And what codecs and player version you guys have installed. Damn this has got me thinking.
emb Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I think I will try downgrading to 1.2, rename my video extensions and give it another whirl. I am using an ATI graphics card with an AMD processor. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk HD
Polemicist Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 I think I will try downgrading to 1.2, rename my video extensions and give it another whirl.I am using an ATI graphics card with an AMD processor. Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk HD I have questions for Theme creators ... The Theme creator app has not updated so the process of creating them and what they are is still the same. I've never done one so it is a little bit of a mystery to me but from what I can tell you put an area in a theme that will pull the file from the default directory for that system and play it in the area and position you specify. Is that about correct? OK assuming that is correct. The theme has nothing to do with the loading of the file it just becomes the container for that. But you can angle the video and even change perspective by the looks of it. So this video is played in a Flash container. The reason we can take an MP4 and rename it to FLV and play it in the old version of HS is that pretty much all FLV players are more than capable of playing MP4 (just look at YouTube) the thing that stops MP4 from loading in the old version of HS is not the player but HS itself. EMB if you don't mind can you when you test this use only default themes and default everything. No artwork or anything just bare bones HS. Don't even setup anything to launch. Oh and does someone have the old setup they can dump on the FTP as I'd like to have a play.
Polemicist Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 I have downloaded the Hyperspin 1.0 from the torrent. Updated the Hyperspin EXE to 1.2 and ran it for 24 hours using only the files that come with it. No dramas. Didn't even heat up my PC.
Jumpstile Posted November 9, 2013 Author Posted November 9, 2013 The problem does not occur with the old version of HS. Only 1.3 or higher. - J*
Polemicist Posted November 9, 2013 Posted November 9, 2013 Exactly. Now how many updates have we had since 1.2 was released and are they available to download? It is interesting to note that Hypersync Loader has the check for the Windows Media Player 12 dependency.
feltz Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 i'm having the same problem. My log doesn't even show where the problem occurs.. Is there a way to do more verbose logging when launching hyperspin?
Polemicist Posted November 10, 2013 Posted November 10, 2013 When I get home I want to go through the history of updates on HS only. Nothing but defaults are used except for the obvious change to full screen in my case 1024x768 and changing the wait time on attract mode to 30 seconds as I am impatient. Oh and D:\Hyperspin as the folder as I don't want to mess up my real folder.
feltz Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 any updates to this issue? still happening to me constantly
Polemicist Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I can't get the same failure. But I have a lot of wheels that have nothing in them as mine is a testing work in progress setup with 93 systems in HyperlaunchHQ and currently setting up and testing every single emulator in creation. Don't even get me started on how many single games I am downloading just to test systems. *sighs* But yeah I can't get that failure. But my setup doesn't constantly play videos due to my wheel having blank systems example In my letter A my Atari ST isn't done yet. Work in progress due to the Hyperlist database having an empty DB listed in the Unofficial XML files. and as you can see I'm still going. *chuckles* Very weird. I will freely admit that the new version when left running heats my laptop up much more than the old version and since the old version plays videos constantly it is not a video play back thing. I need a failure to look into this more. Worst thing that has happened so far is a single crash after opening and closing it repeatedly during testing. Issue was caused by second instance of HS running and not closed out after opening a non functioning emulator.
woofy221 Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I also am experiencing the "White Screen Exclamation Mark" issue and would like to try rolling back to Hyperspin 1.2 to see if it resolves my issue. but am having difficulty locating the 1.0 distribution and the upgrade pack from 1.x to 1.2 to do so. Can someone provide me with the 1.2 exe? Also will I have any problems rolling back to 1.2? Has anyone else done this? Thanks in advance.
evil eye Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 I was gone for almost a year and this issue still exists? I'm glad I waited now, I'll stick with good 'ol 1.2 then. For those having issues, downgrade to 1.2 and rename your mp4 files to flv as others have mentioned, you shouldn't have any problems after that. Good luck.
craiganderson Posted May 6, 2014 Posted May 6, 2014 i just had this happen to me after i added a new unsupported system it was only happening on THAT system not any other system i tried i just uninstalled and reinstalled it and its not happening again....YET
Jumpstile Posted May 6, 2014 Author Posted May 6, 2014 It's still happening to me if I leave my cab on overnight. I've confirmed no .flv videos are present. - J*
dougan78 Posted May 7, 2014 Posted May 7, 2014 I wonder if it is a wierd codec on the mp4 file like the hd4000 stuff on intel integrated chipsets. Just a thought. Craig could check with gspot to see if any vids are using a different codec.
