Help setting up Pinball Arcade

Im gonna go ahead and get 1.41.12... what are the main differences between dx9 and dx11? I'll just follow your tutorial how to set all up...these are one of the more difficult and tedious systems to get working smoothly,  thanks for sharing!

Also I grabbed ninja2bseen's theme pack, (thanks!)  I assume all the wheel and artwork should match up with this version...

So I got it to work with DX11, RL module navigates to the correct game and right after its selected to intro screen it will go into full screen window with taskbar showing. Also control loses focus, need to mouse click screen to regain control. How can I prevent it from doing this?

edit - I'm using non-steam version

You have both your Pinball Arcade config and your RocketLauncher module settings set to full screen? You renamed your DX11 .exe to PinballArcade.exe?

There are several people on the TPA forums that have trouble keeping TPA in full screen. Apparently it has to do with a graphics card issue. If that's what's causing your issue it is a problem unrelated to Hyperspin/RocketLauncher. I'm not saying that's it, but it's possible.

So dx11 needs to be renamed for non steam? Thought it was only necessary for steam version. Yes on the full screen setting for both RL and pinball config. Will try renaming exe... And hope it's not a vid card issue.

Well, it depends on what your non-Steam version is already named. The renaming was to get the Steam DX11 version to even run (because launching PinballArcade11.exe will only launch the DX9 version unless you rename it) However It would seem that the exe you use should be named PinballArcade.exe regardless of Steam/non-Steam or DX9/DX11 so the module can close it without hanging (like SamVSsami's issue above). When I update the tutorial this Friday I'll simply change it so that everyone knows their exe needs to be named PinballArcade.exe regardless.

What's your exe called?

If I remember correctly it is PinballArcadedDX11.exe

I do know for sure there are 2 exe's.. Other one being PinballArcade.exe. So I'll try renaming both accordingly this evening after work...

Those are the official names so that's good. Rename the one called PinballArcade to PinballArcadeDX9 (to keep as a backup) as that is the DX9 version.

Then rename PinballArcade11 to just PinballArcade. Now your DX11 version will launch from the PinballArcade.exe. Make sure that's the exe you have the virtual emulator pointing to and you should be good. If you have it set to full screen in the pinball arcade config file and in the module settings, but it still windows on you then you may have the alt-tab screen issue.

Good luck.

yes! all is good now, renaming the PinballArcade11.ext to PinballArcade.exe did the trick. Will go through all screens straight to the table. Now to figure out some pause issues im having... it never ends  :unknown:

Thanks for the help!

Cool, glad it worked out.

I'll change the wording in the tutorial to make sure everyone knows they need to have it named PinballArcade.exe regardless of version.
