I notice your redraw is very true to the picture you've taken it from but to me it looks like the button to open the tray is somehow broken. I bet you that when you bought a gamecube brandnew all the buttons would be flush with the top part and not crooked like the one from your source image. I can't help it but to me it sticks out and completely draws my attention to it. Besides that

I would say this is already usable if you want a minimalistic setup. And don't forget we all got to learn how to walk before we can run.
