If you made this wheel thinking in include comodore, dos, windows and all kind of computers i think IBM is representative of them all... because comodore is more old school micro-computers related... windows is more modern games oriented.... and IBM-PCs are just in the middle point ;)

I will like to incldue these Wheels in the next release.

I question for you native english speakers:

How to call the default categories? I need feedback:

Arcade or Arcades
    All arcade machine systems
Consoles or Console
    All console systems
Handhelds or Handheld
    All Handheld systems
Computer or Computers
This is for all computer based sytems from old computers up to Windows PCs
Options
Things like search functions, change screens, things like that
Applications
Kodi and other "no game specific" applications

There is other category that i used to call "PC" or "PC Based"... and i include here touhou project, openbor, popcap games, and other "systems" that are not actual hardware... they are based on a PC software or something similar. How should i call those to group them all in one category. Until now i called them PC based because my setup dont include old computers... just PC Games and these special systems. Maybe "Special Systems", "Misc.", "Others"

I include the pc based arcade games in my arcade category as they are still arcade games.

I have another wheel for non arcade pc games too.

Ok but here im triing to clasify systems... the games is up to everyone as you say you consider some pc games to be arcade games thats ok.... In arcade category you can include systems like: mame, capcom classics, dice, sega model 3.

Console and handeld are obvious.

But those extra systems... i want a correct name for them. I speak spanish so i wan people that talk english to give is opinion to name the categories so i include them in the next release as the default options.

And by all means, feel free to include the wheels.

Thanks

Yes, what i mean is that Arcade PC and Taito Type-X are real arcade games. They have been out there in the arcades.

That there's a PC inside the arcade doesn't matter to me.

Then there's the normal windows games, that never was in any arcade halls, i call them PC Games simply.

We should have an s at the end as we are talking pluralis. Utilities works better than option i think.

utilities and applications is fine. The others with a final S ok. But how to call mugen... Popcap games... Openbor ?

fan made - or other

Mmm popcap is not fan made... So I gonna go for "Others" or "Misc. Systems" not sure yet... Anyone can create their own categories later but is good to have default ones for the art and examples to match names.

So... "Others" or "Misc. Systems"

i say go with misc systems

Personally i would put mugen, and openbor in Arcade as they are based off of arcade games, and are an arcade style of game. I would put popcap, big fish, and other computer games as PC Games, only computer systems, and their related games would go under Computers. The utilities and applications as MISC.

Yeah thats how i have it setup but "Computers" in this case refers to actual home computers systems, like... with real hardware... mugen and openbor are just software designed to x86 or x64 Windows Based Computer systems... so they have to be separated.

Also utilities and applications, because utilities will be always visible by default and applications will be visible only when selecting that categorie.

So here is the default All.xml: http://codebeautify.org/xmlviewer/cb2f8607

The Default Categories list (<genre> field in the All.xml):

Consoles

Handhelds

Arcades

Computers

Misc. Systems

Applications

Utilities

This will be the systems i will use in the readme files, the artwork and the future video tutorials.

Anyone can later add collections, specials, magazines, etc.....

spotUP, can you post or send me the wheels you publish before but with a final S?

Video tutorial would be amazing

yep but i want to make a "first run wizard" that copy the necessary files, check the ini options, do all the tasks that can be automated... and leave the user the task to add the categories he want and the metadata to his game systems file. Once I get there... I will make a tutorial and test all out in the same process.

Those look pretty good to me. I'm not fond of the blue in the E and S of arcades

For all maybe the Hyperspin font if allowed?
