hengey Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 Hi, Anyone else when playing Street Fighter III series on Mame (1.51 & 1.51 rom/chd) have to load the "CD" or "Disk" each time before playing? Is there a way around this to make the game load up instantly like the other Mame games? just bit of a bore when I have friends round and it takes about 30mins to "mount" the CHD. Thanks My Setup: Hyperspin, Windows 7 via Bootcamp on iMac 27", X-Arcade Dual
Trnzaddict Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 You only have to let the game do this once, all cpsIII games have to go through its nvram initialization process. Press the insert key and hold it down so it fast forwards through it, but right before it ends release the key and let it write and finish on its own. Once they all do this it should say loading when you start the game again but then go right to the game. I am......Machine

I tried pressing and holding it , but the loading bar doesn't speed up at all.. thanks!
dark13 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 The common key in mame to "fast forward" (more than 100% speed, speed depends by cpu power) is F10. Press it and the press it again once the game start. I meant speeding up the the game load time for CPSIII games, not speeding up the game itself...the load times take from 10-20 minutes (NVRAM loading?)
volumetric Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 You dont need to do the write in procedure with mame, just use the nocd roms, All SFIII roms are tiny (as they use the CHD) EXCEPT the ones that end in 'n' (eg sfiiin etc), if you use these larger roms, you wont have to sit through the write in.
Polemicist Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I've just completed the NVRam loading of every single CPS3 game found in MAME. Now all games load in seconds. Do it once and then that is it. Please note this will take up a bit of space in your MAME emulator directory so be aware. Mine is currently sitting on about a Gig of data.
dark13 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Hithanks for replying. I meant speeding up the the game load time for CPSIII games, not speeding up the game itself...the load times take from 10-20 minutes (NVRAM loading?) Speeding up the whole game will speed up loading time too. And, as already said, each game will write vram only once, second time you start that rom it will load vram instead of reinstalling from "cd". Or, as suggested, you can use cps3's "nocd" roms Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin
