Medieval Madness 39/27/19 Standard body build

This is going to be a slow going build thread, as I have multiple other projects I'm working on at the same time. But I'm almost finished with my Hyperspin cabinet, so I figured I would start a HyerPIN cabinet. I picked up a Medieval Madness cab (empty) for the build.

During the playfield install

I used 2x2's to make the frame for the LED playfield

Decased the LED and mounted it to the frame with long screws all around it

Added a 1x4 to the front to clean it up

Here is how I built it up. It sits perfectly flush with the bottom of the rails

Added some cross bracing to the back of the frame which I will later add a piece of 1x6 on top of it to finish the look

Added some stops for the front of the frame to rest on

Wow, It is going to be nice when you are done, but that Cab looks nearly spotless. I bet it was worth enough to buy you two cabs from Mameman :D

Can't wait to see your build!

Thanks, the cab is in really good condition. One of the back box stickers has a small gouge in it, but shouldn't be too hard to fix or even replace. I pretty much have the hard drive setup, just need to start piecing together parts for the PC build. Which I'm still not sure about. ....any suggestions??? :)

Then........ I learned a costly lesson.....

Always make sure everything is secure when you are moving your cab. When I was installing the new legs I tilted the cab a little bit and my test backbox monitor fell onto my playfield monitor! Needless to say, $300 down the toilet!!

Ouch... It is possible to order the screen and fix the tv, might save you a bit of cash.

I was looking into that, but haven't been able to find a replacement screen yet. I have the westinghouse dw39f1y1 39" LED tv. If anyone knows where to get the screen please let me know. How hard is it to replace the screen?

**EDIT**

After looking at the screen, it basically lifts right off and is connected by these 2 ribbon cables. I contacted Westinghouse parts department via email about a replacement screen. Hopefully it won't cost that much.

Well I went by a local tv repair shop and they said I could probably buy 2 brand new tv's for the cost of getting a new screen would be. They said even though it was a $300 tv, the manufacturer would probably charge $600+ for a new screen. Makes no sense, but said that's the way it was. So until I can buy a new playfield screen I'll just work on other things. Today I got the DMD screen installed. It's a 19" Dell.

Sorry for your loss - that's gotta hurt. Most people REALLY don't get the risk calculation - There is alot of risk involved in making these cabs.

My TV was/is about $900, I am always scared to pull it out - thinking of worse case senarios. Sorry again :-(

Things are going good. Instead of getting another Westinghouse, I got an Insignia 39", which I actually like better! It has power on memory, unlike the Westinghouse and it has a really thin black bezel that I was able to keep on when I installed it, so it looks more finished, unlike the Westinghouse that you had to completely decase.

New playfield installed
