Slim Arcade Cabinet with LED Marquee

Hey all,

Just thought I'd share my completed slimline cabinet.

Originally I had a Killer Instinct cabinet. I refurbished it and added Mortal Kombat 2 artwork. Altered the control panel to accommodate a trackball and some extra buttons. This can be seen below -

However I had to move house at the end of last year. The bitter pill to swallow was that i couldn't fit the cabinet in the new house. The front door and hallway were just too slim! Not to mention it took 4 people just to pickup the thing.

Alas I thought my cabinet days were over. Until I saw a video on Youtube with people experimenting with LCD marquees. This regenerated my interest, So I decided to build an all new cabinet. This time an slimline one that could be transported anywhere.

I reused a lot of the parts from the old cabinet and also got a Dell ultrasharp 29" LED for the marquee as well as a ultra high 27" LED for the main monitor. I put in a PACLED64 and xbox controllers as well as the aimtrak light guns. The results speak for themselves :)

I'd never go back to using CRT after finding out what hlsl can do. Very pleased with the results! Plus XBMC as a jukebox looks amazing!

The old MK2 cabinet is sitting at my parents house waiting for its new home. Ebay here i come! lol

Heya,

Well Initally I was going to get an LG Stretch monitor

But they are incredibly hard to find and very expensive. So I started looking at the slimmest monitors you can get. Ended up getting a Dell UltraSharp U2913WM. Added some chrome tape around it to make it look less like a monitor sat on top of a cabinet.

Use a program called Hyperspin Helper. It uses a directory of marquees for the specified system or the hyperspin game wheel logos if they are missing. Its not perfect, but works very well in my opinion!

Well I messed around with various options and ended up getting 4 of these.

They mount great to the cab and hold the guns and the controllers well.

As for the cables they simply feed through a hole under the control panel. I cable tied them together and have an amount of slack not tied so they can stretch the right distance.

Ultra Expensive huh? lol...

Im buying this which is way better for my Hyperspin Marquee setup: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LG-38-M3801S-M3801SCBN-FLATRON-IPS-Panel-RGB-DVI-HDMI-1920x502-NATIVE-/351146246602 ($248) Resolution: 1920x502 Size: 38"

Originally I was going to buy this but its out of stock and its not as good anyway size/resolution wise & more expensive : http://www.legendmicro.com/store/9693_LG-Flatron-M2900S-BN-29in-LCD-Monitor---176---Stretch-Screen---1366-x-480---DVI---VGA--M2900S-BNAUS.lmsp?OpenTreeBranches=0Link ($300) Resolution: 1366x480 Size: 29"

Plus it doesnt have a stupid monitor stand to deal with.
