Should I add to cab or no?

I understand mugen is a 2d "program???" How does it exactly work?? 2d fighting with cross platform characters?

Best place to start learning about it? I'm looking online to get educated .... Looks fun?? Yea/no?

It is a low graphics 2d fighting engine that allows for custom made characters, moves, stages, etc.  If you enjoy Capcom era fighters such as Street Fighter or Children of the Atom, it might be up your alley.  Since they are custom, they can be imbalanced but most of the ones listed in the official database seem decent.

Best place I know of is for a decent write up: http://www.fightersgeneration.com/features/mugen.html

Best site I know of with actual games and guides:

I dig mash fighters they are fun when the homies are over.

It would be fun fighting with Mario or the Simpsons etc. I'll have to dig some deeper info up on how to add characters etc

MUGEN files are not roms and fall into the same category as the art we use around here, derivatives.  Either way rules is rules I guess.

I would describe Mugen as: Mostly poorly done, mis-matched, low quality, unbalanced stank-poop not worth having.

But that's just me. I had a bunch of them on my drive but recently deleted everything Mugen.

Mugen can also be described as many of the phone games,  their are hundreds (thousands for the phone games)

some are absolute crap and others are fun to play.

if you trim your XML to your favorite tittles or the most popular,  you will have a much more enjoyable system.

I agree with most: Mugen is so-so at best. I wanted to love it since some of the mash-ups are really great but the graphics, gameplay, balance, etc. is sorely lacking on many of them. There's more misses than hits in the games I have.
