LOL, I had to repost from a post in the wrong thread... sorry guys.....

Well Im trying to make a few bezels... I thought I would experiment a lil. Want to do some of the older ones with more of a feel for the old. Anyways, enough of that, i did a quick mock up to experiment with "Alcon"

Is there a way to bring the edges further to the bezel border to fit nice? Be nice to curve them to the border once im done. Just want to figure it out first. Heres what I mean.... the black edge between the bezel and the game looks too clinical, need to either mask or what I would like is to bring it to the edge?

Just a quick test. The lines are in MAME with the HSL thingy. I followed the guide by you and Giga. I took the sizes for a vertical game from a default bezel. Just added my own art. But like I said, the game does not fit. The bezel ens with the lighter grey area, the black is the background??

Tryig to make it look like an actual Arcade screen... as then it suits the HSLHS thingy. Realistic with realistic if that makes sense??

Try with gigapig post.fx file on his FTP folder, to have better curvature effect (rounded).

Good Job, Maybe increase brightness.

There are a couple reasons in my opinion to use HL bezels over the MAME built in artwork.

On both my systems the HL bezels launch a lot faster and smoother.

The resolution on my monitor does not change using HL bezels.

HyperPause transitions are a lot smoother not having to redraw the builtin art.

If the game doesn't have a bezel, HL uses a default.

Anybody have any downsides to using HL bezels over the builtin?

Hell no, as you know we converted all the Mame artwork so it works with HL bezels, so there is no real need to use it. Your not limited to just one bezel you can cycle through, and can HL change the bezel after a set time? That may interfere with game play.

The only downside which I think is out weighed by the pros. On a few games some effects are built into the artwork and .lay files. So on After Burner there are lights that flash when you fire, and on Buck Rogers there is a score and other info in the bezel. Those effects could not be replicated with HL bezels.

Did the beta add the ability to change the bezel on a per game basis between the 2 modes?

For the MAME bezels converted and HLSL thingy. I have a couple of questions.....

1. Is there a way to not auto cycle? Im not sure if its me pressing a button or something, but no matter what I do I get random changes? I would like to be able to choose the bezel I like with the "change bezel key" and then have it stay like that until I find better art. I also hate it when it does that no bezel look and MAME looks warped up in the corner :(

2. Now I have a mix between rounded and straight top/side bezels. But the screen looks square. I can get it to fit, but then it goes back to normal on bezel switch (which it randomly does). Im also thinking that once I quit the game it will go straight back to the default straight?? Is there a fast, good way to do this or is it even possible. Im hoping that the answer is not going to be make a per game config and change that saving each one on its own.... that would hurt :( hehehe

Much thanks for all the hard work here guys... Im having a play around making them, but need to figure how the screen fits before I can do much work on them.

It shouldn't auto cycle, there is no option to do that with bezels, maybe it's the key you chose.

Also under Bezel change, have "Save last Selection" set to true, so the last bezel chosen is used next time you run the game.

was cool..but everthing was small..

going to have to try this again my friend!

i have used multiple mongitors for years now on mame..

3 at once!

so nice..u can rotate..use sep art..etc..

really great on my 3 screen pinner!

i started back on mame bezels..started at the top!

i am doing them with the sqaure borders and bads 3d depth bez :}

Yes, I have them all on psd Files, but save after cutting!

So, you need to redraw or recut them all.

I love your job.

The only problem is that your curvatue cut is too small on my 27" screen, that is why i have up the size.

Good job, they looks incredible with depth curvature!

Have convert all capcom bezel with the same curvature cut, for more unified result.

If you are interessed, I can replace actual bezels for capcom system? :hmmmm2:
