I'm a total noob when it comes to soldering. Got any links to stuff to buy. I watched a tutorial

Oh dear :(

I guess if you don't want to solder you could but this cut the button off the power cable, attach some additional cable until the length is correct then use some 4.3 insulated terminals crimped on the end. You then just push onto the button, just make sure you buy the correct terminals for your button, mine were 4.3 like this. Ebay may be cheaper and have smaller quantities.

Or is there a local electrical shop that makes up cables?

Or maybe I could get like 5 of these and just plug them into each other?

Should work. Or you could just take some wire, twist it together with your fingers and wrap it in electrical tape and be done in 30 seconds. Ha!

Mine is like Giga's. Wired to a normal arcade button, hidden on top of my cab where it can't be seen.

Yes the plan is to figure out how to get the power button to work with a arcade button. So I'm planning on removing the power sw pin and plug in a new on and wire it up to the new button. I don't want to destroy the original cord as it may be an option to use the normal pc button again some day?

That makes sense and is basically what I did. Removed the weird little mobo power-pin-head thingy connected to the PC case power button.

Get another one and snip the wires.

Twisty those wires to longer wires.

Electrical tape it all up.

100% perfectly working power button.

When I did it I had no idsea how hard it would be and thought it would be a hurdle in my cab building process. I was surprised when that's all it took and I had it done and working easily.

Nice so if I twist the wires, I just wrap them next with electric tape. Thanks

You probably have them in the USA as well although I'm unsure of the name. You could use chocy block, those plastic blocks with screws in for joining wires.

Twisting and tape works though. :)

Soldering isn't required, but it sure feels like you've accomplished something. :) Either way, I'd recommend using an inline splice for longevity and looks. Here's a tutorial: http://www.instructables.com/id/Master-a-perfect-inline-wire-splice-everytime/?ALLSTEPS

Heat shrink tubing is also optional, but nice. The tubing is cheap and shrinks with a normal match or lighter. Just don't forget to put it over the wires prior to splicing.

Here's another alternative. You could just go into the BIOS of the motherboard and set the Power settings to Restore on AC/Power loss, that way you don't need a power button for your pc at all. You would only need to flip the switch on your power strip and the whole system will boot up.
