Hey guys, so I downloaded a huge hyperspin torrent, about 800gbs unzipped.  Could use some help in a few areas, when I click hyperlaunh in the folder it just says it can't find the xml but it's there, also I have gotten a few games to work by going into settings and changing paths to new drive "F" the game will work from hyperspin. Now if I take all the same files and drop them onto a new drive and toss it in a computer with the same drive name "F" I open hyperspin and try to click on a system then it just resets itself back to first item in system list it won't launch the rom list.

Sorry if im jumping all over the place, thanks for any help and tips.

Also on the new computer hat I put the drive in. When I open hyperspin and try to close it with the esc key it just pauses hyperspin but esc key works normally on the system I got the files from

Pre built harddrives and torrents are not really supported by this community as by default you dont know whats on there so its even harder for people here to know what problems you have.

Generally speaking its better to take your roms and maybe the artwork+databases and build it fresh.

It may sound daunting but it may be quicker than patching up the torrent you have.

You have plenty of assets so if you follow Avars official guides it should only take a weekend to get plenty working

Be up and running much faster if you start from scratch. Also, if that's running hyperlaunch it's extremely dated, so the artwork likely is too.

Hands up who remembers how to set up HyperLaunch....nope??

The chaps are correct, start over and I notice you are a platinum member so you could get all the artwork using HyperSync and even download the 61 system build which gives you a head start but contains no ROMs or bios files.

And most importantly follow Avar's video guides in our tutorials section so you understand how it all clicks together.

I would absolutely not trust the emus (they'll be like 5years outdated in some cases) and I'd take any roms with a grain of salt. Really, just put that in a folder in the corner somewhere as a worst-case-scenario backup and go full on from scratch IMO. Only way to know for sure you won't have headaches to deal with down the road.

Definitely start from scratch. What those guys said. If you build from the ground up it's more stable, serviceable, upgradable, customisable, tweaked, better looking, specific to your computer, etc. Have I convinced you yet? [emoji38][emoji38]

ive spent like a week on this shit, and i face a new problem everytime. I don't have the time to sit and spend a month on this. The only videos to watch are austins and they are like 50 mins long because he just rambles. The only good videos out there are from AV and he didnt make that many

Please take a look at our site rules.

Austin's videos are way longer than they need to be and contain errors in a bunch of places. I don't have everything done yet on the Official HyperSpin Tutorial Series but what's there should clarify how a lot of it works and after the next few videos, one of which I should have finished tonight, you'll be able to handle everything and my future vids will focus on the specifics of setting up certain systems.

And if there are any questions I encourage people to ask in the comments or they can make threads in the forums and we try our best to help. It's easier to setup now than it ever has been so aside from a few systems, the current guides should get you going without issue. The toughest system to add is the Commodore Amiga, so I did a video for it especially already.

this is why most people here don't like to help anyone with pre built drives.

nobody can tell you what those errors are because they don't know what you have.

You can do this but if your pre build set is running Hyperlaunch,  Note that Hyperlaunch was replaced in 2013 or 2014.

Your emulators are that old,

- rom sets are just as old,   they don't change but more are added to the official Hyperpin Lists.

- new and better artwork and themes are constantly added,  I'm sure you have allot of low quality artwork that has been replaced with HQ versions.

You are a Platinum member,  download this

Extract it to  C:/Hyperspin

-  go down the emulators list  ( for the systems you wan to run)   and download the latest versions!!

- run HyperSync and download THE LATEST and greatest artwork and themes available.

- while you are running HyperSync download the latest XMLs for the systems you want.

Once you have your emulators fully updated and running manually in your PC

(running manually =   you can open the program and load a single rom  using your mouse)

come back and post any errors you have when you try to load your games using Rocketlauncher

ok, kinda dumb though, its like the bodybuilding forums banning talk of steroids, which they have lol

No you are wrong...  because this forums or site doesn't sell hyperspin builds with ILLEGAL CONTENT!!

pre-builds with roms and where they were obtained shouldn't be allowed for obvious reasons! that being said no one here is innocent on the subject but you don't do illegal things and then talk about it openly.  As far as getting help from others as far as how to get things to run right.. if people can help they normally help but to be honest nobody knows what the hell is in a pre-build HS and nobody knows what the original person was using or had it setup when it (if it ever was) running 100% not to mention if it's pre-build on a torrent it's probably out dated as emulators get updated, etc. and things change all the time.

I'm sure other's have mentioned the best thing to do is start from scratch with the FREE Hyperspin which is available on this site and is only the front end with no illegal content.. being that you already have the content? you should be good to go but as always with pre-configured hyperspin builds the process is much better dumping everything and doing it the correct way.

Good luck tho..

If you don't have the time.. you're definitely not cut out for this.. it's going to take time! even with setups built from the ground up it takes time and people run into issues and have to troubleshoot it.  you have a out dated build... you're basically trying to reverse engineer something and even taking the content from the build and copying it to a new fresh build is going to be like doing massive surgery.

This is something we're working on, streamlining the process that is.

So I am going to be completely honest with you here.  HyperSpin is not easy to setup for most people.  Recently it has been made incredibly more simple with the additions of Rocketlauncher and the inclusion of a simplified Retroarch but it is still not easy.  Especially when working from a torrent that you found God knows where from.  This is not something you can do in a weekend contrary to what has been said in this thread.  This is not something that can be done in a month most times.... heck how long have I been here?  2012.... yeah still not done.  That is the fun of it though.  If you want a completely set up box that runs everything, you might want to look into HyperPie.  Not sure if I can link the forums here but that is an easy to setup, easy to use HyperSpin-esque setup that you could have running in a weekend, heck an afternoon.  It is very limited though.  Very.  The raspberry pi 3 cannot run N64 that well so anything after that (other than playstation) is a no go in my experience.

That being said.  HyperSpin offers so much more and it is worth your time to sit down and take one system that you care about.  And figure it out.  HyperPie works and is easy but HyperSpin gives you sooooo much more and is worth the time investment.  If you do not want to make a hobby out of it like most of us long timers though, go with HyperPie.
