I find I tinker with Hyperspin more than I play with Hyperspin

How about you guys?

I think Hyperspin causes a paradox of choice where we have so much to choose from we sort of don't know what to do sometimes or at the very least gravitate to what is most comfortable. Thoughts?

Also, what is your favorite game this week and why? Nostalgia or Chance?

I've actually done less gaming in the last year than ever before thanks to this Hyperspin hobby I have. Thats no bad thing, as I've learned a lot and enjoyed being part of the forum. I now think I can start playing some Dark Souls and Battlefield again.

I have quite a few systems set up, but mainly stick to Mame and Daphne. Me and my 2 year old boy have been playing Centipede, he likes to shout Spider! Every time ones on screen, and I shout Shoot! When he takes over the fire button :).

Gonna start playing Stargate (Defender 2) as I never have played it.

I do a fair amount of gaming and tinkering. I beat Ys Book one on Turbo CD and I am working on Book 2. My cab is still in beta and I need to have more people over for testing, (need to get all the gun games configured now that I have 2 aimtraks). I find the more I have people over to play the more "fixing" of things I find. However the last session I had went fairly smoothly. It is always funny though someone finds some game that doesn't work and I need to figure out why(cue file had a bin file renamed wrong inside of it, graphics plugin doesn't work good, Q&S keys exiting, forgot to cleanup up clones out of model 2 and model 3 and configure inputs). When I do get to play it is a blast. My daughter is 2 and 6 months. Maybe I will see if she can play some centipede. She doesn't yet correlate the moving the stick and hitting buttons does stuff on the screen yet.... We will keep working on it..... Cheers!

Hahaha, it's awesome you guys have such a good time playing with your kids!

Dougan, definitely true about having friends over and not being able to play games them needing to reconfigure that emulator etc. Personally, I get so peeved when my pal picks a game and it doesn't work! I want to fix it right then but I have to wait!we end up playing something else and it's all good lol

My setup isnt in a cabinet yet, its just a pc tower hooked up to my 50 inch lcd in the living room. my control deck is a small cardboard box i put an ipac and buttons in. Ive done a fair bit of tinkering in the last month. trying to get GFX plugins to work just right, getting a few systems set up, etc. Ive been trying to play some mega man legends and a few other PS1 rpgs. but life is taking up quite a bit of time lately

Yes, the best times are when others are playing, especially games they haven't played for a long time.

It is easy to just download complete sets, but having them all working is another thing. It would be better to have a top 10 or 50 that all work, instead of 500 random working games.

Sounds like that could easily be the Favorites in HyperSpin?? Hmmm... Never have used that feature.

Thanks,

Ron

Of course, I'd forgotten that feature, there's just so many  Just tell your guests "your only allowed to play my favourites" or change the "Favourites" to "Working" :)

At the moment I spend more time reading the forum than I spend either tinkering or playing. When I do find the time for gaming though, I enjoy finding something random that I've never heard of before.

My latest discovery is AStar on the Atari 2600, which is a sort of cross between Pac-Man and Sokoban. I've actually been playing it on my new Archos Gamepad 2 rather than my PC, so must remember to check I've got it in HyperSpin.

I usually have this problem of tinkering more than playing. But lately I've been doing the opposite. What changed?

I've been collecting actual arcade games! When you start getting into that, it becomes a whole thing of testing games before you snag them.

My favorite part of Hyperspin is getting people to play games they haven't seen since they were kids! I recently showed the library of Commodore 64 games to a fellow worker here at my job who grew up playing that system. I didn't know most of the games but he was stoked to see some of them! It's funny, every time this happens, they end up picking terrible games hahah

Berserk is legit though

I did nothing but tinker for 2 years . Bought a non working centipede, put an LCD , and a pc, kept the original art and controls, then put all of the compatible games that use the trackball and 1 button, it was worth it, but started a chain reaction.

Now I have a super punchout with all HS and nintendo arcade games in it, as well as nes, and gb.

Then fix it felix in a dk cab with all 8 and 4 way vertical games.

Friends go crazy at my house, I find myself perfecting one cab at a time, and playing till my eyes bug out of my head. I'm having so much fun... The tinkering was worth it!

Sorhp,, as soon as I move to a new place and get going on that man cave...I want to begin working on cabinets and do something like your setup. Arcade, Bar and Movie theatre all rolled into one. Curious, what size and brand was that LCD?
