SheepyNick Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 hello im new to hyperspin. i was so thrilled to hear of this and i was so excited to learn how to use it. but that was a few days ago. now im just sad and fustrated. im sure im not suppose to post this here as it's just me saying hello to everyone but no matter how much i try or how many videos i watch i can't get anything to run. im all out of ideas and i feel like giving up =_= this is an awesome concept but i guess im just too dumb for it. anyway nice metting you all
Avar Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 We're currently in the process of making things a lot easier but have you tried following the official tutorials? If you follow them to the letter w/o skipping anything it will work.
SheepyNick Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 Yes actually those are the exact videos i been following. i got as far as the video to audit the games. but after i renamed them and got them working in rocketlauncher once the video said to start them up on hyperspin which on the video worked no prob but for me. nothing happends. i can open hyperspin as well as choose which game system to play but when actualy trying to play a game nothing happends the system does not even tell me that there is anything wrong. no error message or anything, just nothing. i been trying for 3 days to fix it so i can continue to follow the videos but nothing works. and i can't figure it out. i even thought well maybe i messed up. so i ended up wasting a huge chunk of time deleteing everything twice and started over with the tutorial videos and still have the same issue. =_= im just so drained, i really wanted this to work but idk anymore. sorry nothing on you guys im sure there is just somthing im doing that's making it not work. idk
Tribe Fan Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 It sounds like maybe you don't have RocketLauncher properly communicating with hyperspin. Navigate to hyperspin\settings\settings.ini and make sure the Hyperlaunch_Path is pointing to your RocketLauncher.exe location (e.g., "D:\RocketLauncher\RocketLauncher.exe") Also, I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not, but you might want to try deleting hyperlaunch from your hyperspin directory. I know I deleted it from mine. Don't give up!
SheepyNick Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 Hello and yes my settings is set to that here is the doc [Main] Menu_Mode=multi Single_Mode_Name=MAME Enable_Exit_Menu=true Enable_Exit=true Exit_Default=yes Exit_Action=exit Version=1.0.0.0 Last_System=Super Nintendo Entertainment System HyperLaunch_Path=C:\RocketLauncher\RocketLauncher.exe on a side note i deleted the file you said to nget rid of but that seemed to make 2 issues. now when i try to launch a game it says it cannot find launcher. and i can't test games in rocketlauncher anymore it just gives me an error code saying that -10 is not a valid key name. whatever that means?
Bungles Posted July 5, 2017 Posted July 5, 2017 Don't give up buddy. I found some of Simply Austin's Guides to be of help also on youtube. Took me a good couple of weeks to get around the folder stucture, databases and launchers. Not to mention the countless Emulators, but after a while you get used to it all. From there you can start to learn the folder/file structure and Bam! You are starting to make your own versions.. I am only about 6 months in. But as Avar said, it seems plans are in the works to make things a lot easier for all. SheepyNick Posted July 5, 2017 Author Posted July 5, 2017 Hmm I wonder how soon.... Anyway thanks for the input. I hope I can figure something out. I should just take break from it for a bit and come back when I'm not thinking about setting my CPU on fire in a fit of rage.

The issue you're having is the result of one of three basic paths being missed or set wrong, or very rarely due to not running HS/RL as administrator. Also, make sure you start with a clean, fresh dl/install of both HS and RL.
SheepyNick Posted July 6, 2017 Author Posted July 6, 2017 =_= sigh.... allright i got nothing to lose so might as well try again a 4th time. wish me luck
Avar Posted July 6, 2017 Posted July 6, 2017 If you hit a snag let us know but don't change anything Be able to help you out from there.
SheepyNick Posted July 7, 2017 Author Posted July 7, 2017 allright i will. i'll go threw the steps again after i get off of work.
SheepyNick Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 why is this so hard to get my mind around. i did it once again and still nothing works. i got so desperate i looked for an all ready set up version somebody made and had it set up for download. and when i downloaded it all the files where there only it was set up for the G:/ disk and i guess dont have a G disk so im just screwed and i have no idea how to get this to work.........sigh all i wanted to do was build an arcade machine.........what makes me so dumb that i can't see what im doing wrong that everyone eles has no issues doing. =_= well thank you all so very much for your input you have been a huge help in me trying to figure this out, sadly i wish it could have worked out in the end..... i really wanted hyperspin to run but i guess i'll have to settle for that basic looking retro pie look >.> i just wanted to save some money by using a spare computer i had.
SheepyNick Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 in your video's at the part where you audit the games and play test them in rocketlauncher i can launch the game in rocketlauncher but it refuses to play in actual hyperspin. it does not even give me a error to show what i did wrong, just nothing happens when i try to boot up a game
Metalzoic Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 You're sure you followed the tutorials exactly step bu step and din't accidentally skip anything? Nothing happens in Hyperspin as if it isn't even registering you pressed a button?
SheepyNick Posted July 9, 2017 Author Posted July 9, 2017 im very sure. the only thing i guess im not doing is creating a new disk entirely for the hyperspin file but i keep the set up in my C drive, not the desktop mind you in the actual file
Avar Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 Please upload the log.txt from your HS directory. Also, try running HS and RL both as admin.

If worst comes to worst just partition your hardrive and make the second part g:/
Avar Posted July 9, 2017 Posted July 9, 2017 @32assassin you don't need to delete those, you just can. @SheepyNick if you upload your log.txt we'll probably be able to tell quickly what the problem is as your issue can only be caused by a few very simple settings.
