alright all, I've uploaded all the work done to make main menu changer work for mode 3. Lots of work needed to be done to stream line it and list of updates are below

+You'll find the main menu database folder in it, supports 120 systems and hypersearch on all wheels!
+An updated hyperspeech thanks to boogieman so that siri doesn't yell at you each time you close hyperspin that connection was lost.
+Created 2 alternative gif files for main menu loader.
+Added the wheels I created and themes that were non bakerman related. You can get his category themes from launchbox.
+Updated the randomizer so the intro video only launches on the first launch and it still randomizes the video.
+Finally with all these hyperspins opening and closing the system tray was getting a lot of orphan icons so I got a script to deal with that and upon closing hyperspin, you should only have 1 set of orphan icons which I don't think there is any way around cleaning that up unless you physically run the exe again manually or hover over the system tray

Ninja! Great pack

I am a little bit of a newbie in terms of the main menu changer. I am guessing that I need to modify my paths in the HS Startup.ini and use that ini somewhere.
If you don't mind, a brief guide on where I need to place and set the files/folders would be appreciated.

Not a problem I’m extremely satisfied with this nested set up.

 

Yes I’m the start up script ini you need to remap all the paths. Some of the apps you may not have but I’ve felt they are essential. The ini assumes you have those other apps already configured.

 

I tried to put the folder structure in the zip.

 

You’ll need to download the main menu changer from knewlife and place the folder in the hyperspin root. You’ll need to open main menu hq and run wizard for the first time. Select mode 3 and map all the paths in the wizard just like the knewlife tutorial does for setup of mode 1. Once you have all the paths set in menu changer, exit out of it

 

Then Save over your hyperspeech exe with what I included. Your hyperspeech set up needs to have a root folder in hyperspin. I provided the hyperspeech ini which also has mentions of the nested wheels

 

The randomizer folder also needs to be in your root hyperspin folder, just drop the bat in that randomizer folder as well. You’ll need to edit the bat and update the path within it. You can do that by renaming .bat to .txt then back to .bat

 

To choose your losing gif, just rename the one you like to loading.gif and drop it in main menu changer root

 

*if I were you, I would set up hyperspeech, hypersearch, randomizer and the ghutch start up script first before doing any of this. It’ll just make it easier to troubleshoot. You can find all of those apps in the download section. Hope that helps!

 

I’m at the end of my set up so it was just icing on the cake for me with this. This brings it to a whole new lvl for me. There isn’t a huge point for me to move to launchbox for only star ratings and box info though super cool just not enough to move from a fully working system!

I don't get to see the dummy option on HyperHQ. Is that important to show up there?

When you create a wheel for the first time through main menu changer you should see it. To be honest you don’t even need that step. That tutorial is a bag full a crazy but it’s all we got. Mode 3 has the best documentation and the one you want to set up in my opinion

Oh ok, good to know. By the way I just re-start the wizard and I had an error on one path... now I am seeing that dummy thing. 

But it was confusing at the beginning because I am doing this mechanically and now it is starting to make sense for me

I will stick to Mode 3 tutorial as you suggest.

I am getting a bit issues here.

What should I do if I want to have the menu back? Just want to make sure I didn't screw up

I only see on my hyperHQ the two menu I created but I can't see the systems anymore

edit:sorry, I found out that, it was on the backup folder.... I was almost having a stroke lol

I aam also getting "error creating main menu" when I want to go back from a sub menu to main menu

edit: I deleted all the main menu changer folder and anything related to it, and started with a clean install...... seems to be responding according to the tutorial.. yay!!!

edit 2: I throw the towel. I am still getting the error above and I am feeling frustrated at 1:30 am. Better go to bed. It is so complicated

In the database folder main menu folder you need an All xml. This is a list of all your systems. Main menu changer changes the main menu xml. Main menu xml needs to start with the stuff from categories xml so just copy categories xml and name it main menu. Did you download my pack I uploaded? It should really help but you need to update all the paths

yes, I did download your pack. It looks good though. But when I tried hyperspin, I get a black screen and nothing else works, even when I do ctrl+alt+del I can't get to see what process I have to kill, so I have to restart my pc every time. 

Unless my hypermarquee is messing this setup up, I can try again later.

There is killexplorer that would do that and would restore when hyperspin exits correctly. I turned that off for the same reasons and I guess I didn’t include that ini... so go to main menu changer settings, go to kill explorer I think it’s like in the middle of the pack, just move that to no and I think you’ll be good

Do you mean hyperHQ?? Trying to figure out how to do all of this, this whole thing is way more complex and harder to figure out than I ever remember. Trying to get a nested setting working here...

It seems like I am coming close. I got everything coming up on the main menu with categories, but when clicking on any of them, absolutely nothing happens, it doesn't go to a category wheel

Where and how does the "HS Startup.ini" file actually get used. I tried going through and editing paths on it, but it doesn't look like it ever gets loaded anywhere and you didnt mention it in the description.

That needs to be the startup script in hyperhq. That may be what is causing your problem. Or the all xml doesn’t have all your systems

Did you edit or create files in your settings folder and denounce a parameter?

I am coming back into Hyperspin after being away from the scene for a long while, so there are lots of changes. I was using your menu changer without first downloading the original menu changer; that had me all kind of messed up, lol. Figured out the  startup script, is there a way to make it launch different loading images per system similar to emaulationstation? Great work on the menu changer add-on it helped immensely once I figured out I needed the original one first. ;P

The randomizer will randomize your intro videos. Maybe more too but that’s all I could figure out. I have themes for each category. Got Jane baker categories from launchbox

the intro video seems to play every time it goes back to the main menu, is there a way to make it differentiate between when Hyperspin first launches and just when going back from a category level back to the first level?

That’s black magic and would have to really play with the randomizer I think in a different way?

Question About the Main Menu Changer. I downloaded it from Hyperspin-fe and is there supposed to be a MainMenuchanger.exe in the file?  As I watched your video I notice this and there was MainMenuchanger.exe.  Therefore Before I begin, I don't want to mess up in what I started. You have a Stella system and I know folks would like to have the same standards as yours. SO please help me understand what are the steps to install.  Not all of us are up to speed with Hyperspin like most of you are all. Like I mention I have been out of this for the past several years and now just getting back into the race.  

Things I notice on you movie was that you had the following installed. Is this the best practice before I start. Like the items below.

Also before using this is best to have hyperspeech up and running?

Also do you have to have radomizer up and running?

I have the nested wheels working well and my question is about your randomizer file. I have made the proper edits to "Run Randomizer". But where do I put it? Also, I had the randomizer installed and working before I added the nested wheels. Also, if it wasn't for your videos and help, I wouldn't have gotten this far.
