xpadder files

Is there a repository for folks to share xpadder "setups" for different systems or games?

For instance I made a default profile that works with all of the alice games except lander which requires its own

would be nice to have a place or thread where people could make these available for download

maybe it already exists and i dont know about it

thanks

I have been considering this as well, especially since so many people are using xbox360 controls. PS3 and keyboard profiles should be included as well. I had planned to include PS3 with the keypad which would be great for Atari systems and for emulators that have all kinds of added features like save states, fast forwarding, cheats etc. Unfortunately I haven't gotten the PS3 controllers working yet.

Some things I have considered:

Default emulator buttons should be used to make it as plug and play as possible. Unfortunately many emulators only have player 1 or up to player 2 defaults configured when the system allows up to 4.

Many emulators use Direct Input so the xpadder profile will be mostly blank except for exit buttons and possibly savestate buttons, which brings me to my next consideration -

Everybody chooses different exit buttons and your choice of savestate buttons is subjective. Currently I have L3 and R3 (joysticks pressed down) set to keypad* and keypad- to exit the emulator, but I've already run into a problem where some emulator uses keypad-. I like to use L2 for load states and R2 for savestates, but this isn't ideal as sometimes you hit them accidentally while playing. And then you have to consider that some systems use L2 & R2. Some standard should be found and then be applied consistently across all systems.

UrbanGangsta has configuration files for Sega Model 2 (a system that requires every game be set up individually) and this was immensely helpful to me to be able to play these games instead of setting them up. This should be included in this project as well as adding configurations for other emulators that require it.

I began taking screenshots of the default input configurations in different emulators. I think it would be helpful to have a folder for each system, screenshots for each controller configuration, and a text file with notes in it including who created the xpadder profile, whether it has been revised and if anything needs to be setup in the emulator.

There is a project going on to find keys that are safe for every system, however I'm not sure exactly what the end goal is. I think to have keyboard input defaults built into hyperlaunch? But perhaps part of their work could be included in this endeavor.

all good points

but would still be nice to grab one from the repository as a starting point

and then can tweak it to meet ones own needs

exit buttons are a concern

i use F and V on the triggers

gotta squeeze em both at same time to exit

to prevent accidentally exiting.....especially if my little boy is playing

That combo seems open to some abuse :) I use the start and back buttons, hold Start and double tap Back.

This does seem like a good idea, I do tend to just use the emulators built in controller config.

And how did your signature suddenly get bigger than mine? ;)

I did come across someones profiles on the FTP. It had most systems on there. Problem is that on the other system I already made my own setup in each Emu, now Im starting from scratch I just have default. It would be handy. I made my exit both of the thumbsticks clicked in, harder for me to do it by accident whilst button bashing

i has never been a problem yet

ill change it if it ever does

i think i use that combo because i like having the triggers as the exits and based on

that THK thread finding the best keys ...they are f and v on that thread

if i remember correctly

dont have link right now

Im gonna follow this with great interest. Can anyone give me a screenshot of hlhq where to change the emulator exit key to f and v? I guess its ~f + ~v

At the moment I use select + A for ~Esc to exit

I would assume you know how to do it if you've already changed yours to Select + A, but here's the screen shot as requested.

anybody have the link to the THK thread where he is figuring out the best key setup

??

their is no such thing as a best key set up

their is a project to have a Uniform Key set up. The Uniform key set up is geared more to someone with a ipac or other type of keyboard encoder.

if you use this system you have to configure ALL YOUR EMULATORS to use the matching keys.

http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?30662-Project-Key-Mapping

The hole point to Xpadder is that you get to assign keys to joystick buttons.

The Uniform keys are a complete waste of effort for all of use using Joysticks/Joystick style encoders (GP-Wiz or others).

We would have to program the uniform keys to the emulators then create Xpadder profiles with the same uniform keys.

I personally would not do that since its so much easier to create Xpadder profiles with the default emulator keys and my own Exit sequence.

Other people have asked for peoples profiles, but as you already mentioned everyone has their own way of doing things.

My exit sequence is Back+Start=ESC (360 controller) and its like this even in my Blank profiles I use for console systems with more than 6 buttons.

I personally would never use the trigger buttons as my escape sequence. Some emulators use the trigger buttons for game play.
