OS and PC Recommendation

Hi all 

Its been about 5 years since I've built a HyperSpin setup. I'm planning on a new arcade cab and just trying to catch up on any new school info when selecting a P.C and OS.

The cab will be dedicated arcade only and am planning on just buying a cheap refurb P.C.

- My first question is Windows 7 or 10?

- The second is will an i5 with 8gig ram and external SSD do the job for such things as MAME and MODEL2?

Sorry for the noob questions, just want some advice from the pro's before I buy.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Windows 10 is best now, though again Windows 7 will also work.

I5 and 8gb ram for stuff like MAME and Sega Model 2 will be fine.

Model2 emulator works fine even on a pentium4, Intel i5, starting from 2xxx series, is ok for most stuff. My 4460 can run CEMU (16gb of ram needed for some games due to shader cache) without problems, not enough power to run yuzu. Sometimes emulation of MAME 3dfx machines (San Francisco Rush, Gauntlet Legends, etc) can slightly drop under 100%. As usual CPU frequency is really important, some emulators can use 6 cores instead of 4 but performance does not increase that much, especially considering that single core compiler is often suggested due to stability issues. At this point you will probably get something like an used 6600k at a decent price.

Windows10 is faster and better but if the machine is online updates can be a pain in the ass. My suggestion: Windows10 Enterprise LTSC. No version update and 10 years of security update. Moreover Enterprise is the only version of Windows10 that can be setted up to boot in total black (from black screen to hyperspin, no windows shit, you'll see only motherboard boot).

My cab has a i5 2700k, GTX 660ti and 8gb of ram which may need to increase. 

I did prefer Windows 7 over 10.

My newly refreshed cab is now Win 10 with an i5 3570, with 8gb ram, runs all the MAME games i've tried so far..

oO LoL How to Win 10 Best Win 7 probably the best, what has changed that you say Win10 Better than Win 7 ??

Also I prefer Win 7 best in my opinion, I don't trust 10 when it comes to Emu and old games 

I have a Question, maybe you'll be able to help me, I have a problem with the fluency in Mame as in the video below, in some places it only happens (how is more on the screen hmm)

I've tried practically all versions of Mame, Mame 32 FX and almost all settings, versions of the game, whether it's a fresh system or not the same problem (only in beat up games) in this game it slows down terribly only when I play for 2 people as I browse YT it for others with worse equipment, the game, the games work great, so WTF (although, as you know, there are games that have exemptions even on the Real Slug, e.g. Metal Slug, etc., even Pc from NAS will not do it, it will not change anything: P

Maybe you have any idea, I know that I don't have a strong Pc but other more demanding emu work smoothly, I know that Mame is specific and has his moods but only in this game there is a tragedy which irritates me terribly ; (
