The HyperSpin 2 beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Rlauncher support and other general mentions

You could be waiting a while on that one, as there are not many Admins over there and they are not on line very often..

Set the name of the wheel before the rom name... If theres spaces... use "" marks.

FWIW I consider this a hack, not a solution. To me an acceptable solution would be Rlauncher being treated the same onboarding process as an emulator, once rlauncher is onboarded as an emulator then commands would be sent to Rlauncher to launch a game...Also during the onboarding process, there would be a trueup wizard that says ' I see you have 99 system's in rlauncher, do you want to download/import artwork assets for them?' Then you can select which artwork assets to download or import for each system

HyperHQ is trying to be an AIO tool, I'm saying, Stop it. If it wants to favor artists and artwork, just have it do that and have a connector to Rlauncher to handle configurations and perhaps in the future do a slow transition to being an AIO tool. This platform is trying to do too many different things and it's jaring to users that are in really deep into HS 1.5 . Just let it be an HS launcher/Artwork management tool/theme creator

Here are the Rlauncher CLI commands that would need to be implemented on the backend of HyperHQ

I know everyone is excited and just want to get up and playing.  I too have been looking for a perfect front-end for my system for several years. Just like most of you, I have had a solid working HyperSpin 1 setup running for many many many years. It's time to move on from old tech...  I've tested every front-end out there and have yet to find one that I've been happy with.

Everyone needs to take a step back and understand what you are here for and why we decided to allow open testing... and if you aren't here for this, then come back once we are nearing RC.

With HyperSpin 2, we have a fresh new start on an old favorite. We have the ability to help develop and groom something we've all been passionate about into something even better.

This is the friggin HyperSpin 2.0 BETA. This is something that we've all been looking forward to hearing, and now seeing, for a decade now and here we are.

Everyone here does understand what a "BETA" is correct?

"Beta testing is a crucial phase of product development where a small group of users test a product in a real-world environment before its official release. The goal of beta testing is to identify and fix bugs and usability issues, and to ensure that the product meets user expectations."

With that being said... RocketLauncher is something that we have all become accustomed to using in this hobby. We have become complacent and reliant on it. Yes, RocketLauncher support can be added and used in HyperSpin 2.  RocketLauncher bypasses what HyperSpin 2 is trying to do. This is bypassing what we have opened the beta for.

We are no longer testing apples to apples. You are no longer testing the current state of the available features and functionality of the application. Too many variables are being added for us to have a successful testing.

Please... Help test the things that we really need tested. RocketLauncher is not currently one of those things.

Wrong approach.

I’m sorry if I had offended you… I don’t sugarcoat anything and will tell it like it is.

Right now this IS a test. We have been clear about this being a test.

It seems that many here are expecting a fully working product. If you are not here to help by testing the features of the application, then come back at a later time.

The rest of us have a job to do…

They're doing their best... unless you'd prefer another 7 years of <<squints>> NO development? No? Then really, stop complaining. You're obnoxious, Mr. "I think the Steam API is insecure because I typed my account name in incorrectly."

Speaking of - do you have a more formal bug tracker setup somewhere?    Bitbucket?  Jira?  github?

I get to have just as much of a say in things around here as anyone that's been a part of this community for multiple years since near the beginning, but if you're trying to antifa the f*ck outta this platform now then I'm happy to leave.  Rename it to HyperSpin Shit for all i care now. Cya

Light the Blue Touch Paper and watch it all become Toxic.........

Why don't you just go back to Launchbox where you belong.

You are no true Hyperspinner, that's for certain.

Just downloaded Nintendo Game Boy Color to see what media I would get on an easy old system and this is what it looks like ......

Literally 50% of the media is not on EmuMovies and this is why this new Hyperspin 2.0 will never work without allowing us to use our own media.

If I had downloaded this from Launchbox it may be 90% (7 years after they launched)

I have ALL the missing media, yet on this brand new 2025 version of Hyperspin I have to make do with the way it looks on the image instead.

Surely there is a way to drop all the media into their folders and then HyperHQ encrypts it afterwards ?

I would like to know what the developers will definitely not do from what the users suggested?

Allow manual adding of media files - yes or no?

Ability to edit Databases yourself - yes or no?

I've been a Hyperspinner since 2014 and still use it. I just think its silly that people complain about something they have no control on. What you should be doing is giving help, with the project instead of being negative.

I would help, but have no programming skills, but instead of being negative, i will do my tesing on my part and report back what I find, with a Postive attitude.

Remember people are doing this in their free time and dont get paid for it......

The members on here being negative is just the normal behaviour of people that love Hyperspin.

No matter what they say, this is now just a clone of Launchbox, but at least that allows you to use your own media.

Everything that was different and unique about Hyperspin is currently missing and will probably never be added ...  that's why people are annoyed.

ok

I am sure the dictator over at RL (Agent47) will get right on it.

Oh, a word of warning ..... NEVER question anything he says or you will be banned on the spot.
