Wow! Saw some excellent stuff with the Second Challenge!! You guys are really amazing!! Let us again engage in friendly competition. The game introduction, instructions and my attempt are in the video. PLEASE WATCH AS THERE ARE SOME NEW RULES!

THE DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS IS MONDAY *AUGUST 11, 2014* (@8PM), CALIFORNIA TIME (It will always be Monday night now so I can have things ready after work.)

General Rules (Thanks to our friends at ArcadeControls):

- One Credit, No Continues.

- Highest score wins.

- No savestates, savestate practices, etc. during the round.

- MAME INP recordings OR VIDEO Recordings are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED but optional.

- A screenshot is required to enter a score (press F12 to save screenshot showing your final score) or take a photo of the game screen.

- Even if you don't have a competitive score or if you don't *think* that you have a competitive score, please post it anyway to keep the thread fun & to give everybody a good sense of score ranges.

- Please make sure your scores are from games that take place during the competition period (no posting your best score from last year, etc.).

- Use of autofire or other non-standard hacks within MAME or your PC's OS are not allowed.

Perhaps you should specify which exact rom people should play, as some were asking in the last competition with R-Type. I assume it is Tapper (Budweiser, set 1), rom name of tapper. Just thought you might want to put that in the original post. I honestly have no idea how much the versions differ, but we might as well all play the exact same version.

Just to kickstart the board, i will not be a serious contender this time. I really suck at playing "golden age" games -.-

... and please allow autofire for shmups, i almost destroyed my 360 pad with r-type (keeping it with one hand on my leg and pressing rapidly fire button with other hand when in need of faster firepower)

BTW I agree with .inp use BUT it should be uploaded after submitting window close just to "validate" the score. Uploading .inp with hi-score would make scoring strategies public

I am assuming that inp files won't work with tapper since it has randomness to the game? I have tried a few times and playing the inp back gives different results since different things happen in game. First time playing with the whole inp file thing so I could be missing some setting somewhere...

Funny i was just thinking about the game tapper today its like you read my mind lsd nice yes i was explaning to my dad there arcade machine basically had a place to sit your beer on while you played the game simply you played the game and always took a drink of beer it also had a stool.

Homies! Thanks for your input. I'll take your ideas into account with the next challenge. As this progresses it will become more and more refined. Remember this is all in good fun! I would assume to use the parent rom unless told otherwise.

For clarity, once again taking a page out of the BYOAC forums competition, they not only list the rom at the top, but the also what settings since the default settings sometimes were a little different in different MAME versions. For instance, to quote from one of their more recent competitions:
