ChrisGray
There's a lot of very powerful computers inside some of these cabinet builds, and specs vary wildly, so I thought it might be a good idea to see who has no stuttering (except for say, Monopoly etc) with the worst computer. Although it's always a good idea to go above and beyond what's currently needed (for futureproofing a cabinet), we might get a baseline of what would be the cheapest way to outfit a cab without sacrificing playability. Specs as well as things like loading times might be handy too. Who's going to win?
legtod2
How about this ... ChrisGray
LOL might as well close the thread already, nobody will beat 640k RAM I can just picture the old CRT monitor as the playfield with it's 2 inches of edge-curve, and the cassette tapes madly whirring away underneath. shifters67
Hi, my PC currently is an 3Gig i3 with 4GB of ram and XP SP3 XFX 1GB 560 as the video card (with three outputs) Runs great with XP, tried windows 7 x64 and was unplayable with lag. Still setting up the cab properly at the moment (not got the back box on yet - waiting for the paint to dry!). No ledwiz or contactors or stuff (but want them ) so i3 is ok. Looking to upgrade to an 4.6Gig i5 or even i7 if my budget will go that far in the new year. Given some of the PC specs on here is that considered worsed !! cheers Shifters

Brad
I do! My cabinet has no computer in it due to having to gut it to fix mine! This is what happened to me =( It did have a dual core x64 AMD 3200 CPU and 4gig ram. Ran everything I threw at it. Now I have test attached a Pentium 4 3gig CPU with 2Gig ram machine. It will run some tables fine but others not so much Brad
Dazz
I do! My cabinet has no computer in it due to having to gut it to fix mine! Heh, my cabinet has no PC either... My daughters computer died and she needs a computer for school work/research. So, I had to sacrifice my MAMEcab PC for her. It's an excuse for me to get a new PC.... Too bad I have no idea when I'll be able to afford a new one. Probably not until after the first of the year...
redbeard
My cab is running 2 monitors, 98% of the VP tables are stutter free, as are all FP tables. Specs- AMD Athlon II x2 250 3.0ghz (overclocked to 3.4ghz) 3gbs DDR 3 1333 ram MSI twin frozr gts250 1gb (core overclocked to 750) Customized WinXP Asus Matx mobo Antec NEO 550watt psu I was on a strict budget, but am very happy with performance! In my opinion these are the lowest specs one could go and still have a very enjoyable pincab. Also I run UVP backglasses on 90% of tables. I believe the PC cost under $300 if I remember. northvibe
my test pc to make sure I liked HP/Vp/FP was a core 2 duo 1.8ghz w/ 2gb of ram and a nvidia gs7900 so it was kinda weak sauce.

zebulon
LMAO....and once again the net proves there is no such thing as a dead thread on the forums.... The last post was 3 years ago.
damageinc86
I get that on a lot of forums. I don't understand everyone's problem with posting on an old thread. You never know who might be interested either now, or in the future. Also, I've posted on forums only a handful of times because I had specific questions and don't get an answer (automotive forums usually). But someone might join the forum in 4 years and have the exact answer for me. I would be appreciative if that person went ahead and posted their thoughts ya know? Anyways, carry on lol.
