JoyStickKilla Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Maybe also provide a total list of supported systems thus far too It's a frontend, it supports whatever systems you add.
phulshof Posted September 9, 2016 Author Posted September 9, 2016 Set has been updated with:- Amstrad GX4000- Atari 5200- Atari 7800- ColecoVision- GCE Vectrex
phulshof Posted September 9, 2016 Author Posted September 9, 2016 Maybe also provide a total list of supported systems thus far too The rest will take me some more time due to many missing files. The list so far: - Amstrad GX4000 - Arcade (MAME) - Atari 5200 - Atari 7800 - Capcom Play System I - Capcom Play System II - Capcom Play System III - Cave - ColecoVision - GCE Vectrex - NEC TurboGrafx-16 - NEC SuperGrafx - NEC PC Engine - Nintendo Entertainment System - Super Nintendo Entertainment System - Nintendo 64 - Nintendo Virtual Boy - Nintendo Game Boy - Nintendo Game Boy Color - Sega SG-1000 - Sega Master System - Sega Genesis - Sega 32X - Sega Game Gear - SNK Neo Geo MVS Of course you can add any system you like; these are just the ones that are (practically) complete.
JoyStickKilla Posted September 9, 2016 Posted September 9, 2016 Keep up the good work phulshof. I am glad you picked it up and are keeping it going when emb decided he was done with it(at least for now). I honestly feel retrofe is better than HS. Biggest thing it needs is themes per system/game and then there won't be too much for HS users to complain about(except that they can't just use already made HS themes as is).

phulshof Posted September 10, 2016 Author Posted September 10, 2016 Set is currenly off-line to zip things up; there was too much demand and too many files involved... Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
JoyStickKilla Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 A package without the videos would probably make things much easier, as I am sure a large amount of people who may download it have most of them already.
phulshof Posted September 10, 2016 Author Posted September 10, 2016 You'd be surprised how many files are misnamed in the sets here and on EM, so unless you use a fuzzy match sync there's a lot of work left to do. Let's be honest though: if your HS sets are complete and correct you can very quickly convert them to RetroFE, so you wouldn't need this pack. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

RetroFE is very easy to setup though for anyone who cares.
JoyStickKilla Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 I see it contains the artwork as well (boxes, wheels, etc). Seems a little wrong to do that, no? Main benefit of paying for HS platinum besides supporting the site is to have a quick, easy method for downloading full packs of artwork. This pretty much circumvents that if a large amount of the available artwork is going to continuously get put into system packs for retrofe.
phulshof Posted September 10, 2016 Author Posted September 10, 2016 Considering that these packs are already available on EmuMovies I don't really see an issue here; you need platinum on EM to download this set. Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk
JoyStickKilla Posted September 10, 2016 Posted September 10, 2016 Hmm well damn, never woulda bought HS platinum if I knew I could get all the artwork there lol.
phulshof Posted September 11, 2016 Author Posted September 11, 2016 I have both, and don't even use HS.
phulshof Posted September 11, 2016 Author Posted September 11, 2016 The set is available again at /Official/Retro FE Media Pack 1.0/. The collections have all been rar-ed, so you'll have to unpack them before you can use them. This way the download will be much faster.
progets Posted September 11, 2016 Posted September 11, 2016 Thanks. I saw it was taken down quickly and thought it might take a while to get back up.
suspendedhatch Posted September 12, 2016 Posted September 12, 2016 Does RetroFE store all outwork outside of the program folder or am I going to need a third copy and wait for a third download of all the emumovies content (HyperSpin, LaunchBox, RetroFE)? I'm really frustrated with this and wish the admins at emumovies or fe authors would standardize the art directories outside of the program folders the way RL moved emulators and roms out of the HS folder. I know there's technically a way to do it but it's simply not plausible to do it individually for each of the tends of thousands of games. I'm looking for real support in an FE.
Tomkun Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I created a batch file that if you put it in your Hyperspin media folder will set up your artwork and databases. I'll post it later when I have a chance. It means that both Hyperspin and RetroFE can share media with very little overlap.
JoyStickKilla Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Yeah not sure where you get that emulators and roms ever had to be inside the HS folder, that wasn't necessary at all. It would be silly for FE authors to write their program to accommodate the way another one is setup. For my RetroFE setup I use all my HS media from its folder, only exception to media I keep in RetroFE are the system logos and main video. Plus with symlinks you could use media in whichever want you ever wanted.

As indicated by others: the default directories for RetroFE art are inside the collections subdirectory of RetroFE, but you can change all paths via the settings.conf files, so you can easily share the art between multiple front-ends if that is your preference.
suspendedhatch Posted September 14, 2016 Posted September 14, 2016 Most people haven't been using multiple FE's, but that was before the recent rise of several great alternatives. I only recently started using LB, but there are things I like about HS that make me want to keep it. RetroFE is enticing but I don't want to walk away from LB or HS. Setting the paths for each game individually was in reference to LaunchBox. That appears to be the only solution to move the art outside of its directory for now. RL made a big deal of migrating the emulators out of the HS folder. They basically broke everyone's install to make it happen. I fully agree with this move. It was worth that small pain. I would like to repeat this with artwork (sans pain). I think emumovies is in a prime position to carry the responsibility of standardizing how FEs store artwork. Thank you for the responses, I'm going to follow the advice given.

Thank you for the responses, I'm going to follow the advice given. Again, where do you get this whole emulators needing to be in the HS folder deal? That was never a requirement or anything you had to do. The only thing with moving locations with RL is that it enabled you to have the launcher outside of the HS folder unlike with hyperlaunch. And you don't have to set artwork per game in lb and you can define paths for all the media you want to use except what is used directly for theme. I have a LB setup with 50+ systems and I didn't move a single piece of artwork or even duplicate it, I just defined the paths to use my HS stuff. On another note, does anyone know of a program that can copy/backup a harddrive and maintain the symbolic links. Using them for for a few things and I use dsynchronize to update my backup drive and it copies the files instead of copying it as a symlink
phulshof Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 I put an update in the Upload section containing the latest RetroFE build, and a simple launcher/emulator setup. Hopefully Circo can add that to the official section soon, but for now you can simply download and copy this over the unpacked 1.0 download to get the added functionality. Just add the games, and you should be set. Of course you can always upgrade from there with better emulator choices or configurations, but this at least should be a decent start.
