Ton
This is possible in VP 9.14 (don't know from which build) Preferences -> Audio Options
Aurich
Hi Aurich,I did not know that we can split the sound in VP. Is it something you do in the settings? Yeah, any version from 9.14 on works, don't need a daily build or anything. Keep in mind that means you need two amps etc, it's utterly separate. So what I'm doing is routing the cabinet sounds from VP to a little enclosed 8" sub box and a couple 4" mids under the TV, and then the ROM sounds to a 10" sub in the back of the cab and the 4" speakers in the DMD panel. Both powered by little cheap Chinese amps. So cheap the crossovers don't work for the sub, so I hardwired in my own. You can see one of the amps, the crossover, and the 10" sub in the back here:
Pinball999
Thanks a lot Ton and Aurich! I'll see if I can integrate that in my build.
Aurich
No worries, let me know if you have questions. Got a package today from mameman! (The speakers are just lying in place with weights behind them to hold them up if they look a little off.) Already put down a first coat of Rustoleum primer, will start sanding and cleaning up the MDF fuzzies once that's nice and dry before I put on the basecoat. Then it's time to start masking and playing with some candy airbrush paint.

Aurich
Pro tip: Don't accidentally plug your 5v DMD into 12v unless you want to watch little lovely flames and smoke curl up from the front of it.

Aurich
ouch i presume its totally trashed then??? Yup, utterly ruined. Luckily the customer service at XPin is top notch, and I'll have a new unit here by noon on Monday so I can still play with family over the holiday. Aurich
Welp, new DMD isn't working: Not sure why yet, reaching out to XPin and Russ for thoughts. Might have been shipped a bad board, might have an issue with my setup.
evil eye
Looks like your DMD is caught in the Matrix.
Aurich
Welp, looks like I fried the pinDMD too, and that's the problem, not the new display. Just have to wait on the new version. Learn from my mistake kids!
shifters67
I think that last sentence should be bolded, underlined and written in blood !!! Always check anything plugged in to power twice before turning on and then check again to be sure before you switch on Nice looking rig Aurich!! pinballlooking
Your build is coming alone very nicely. This is such a bummer it is hard enough to pay for this stuff the first time but to have to buy it a second time bites.
Aurich
Got zebulon's latest booster boards, going to drown my DMD sorrows in wiring. Also, will try to not fry anything in the process!
Aurich
Still wiring, no real photo updates, but zebulon's booster boards are awesome, and his customer service is really excellent too. Highly recommended! I'm in the middle of painting the spiderwebs on the DMD panel too. Work and real life have just invaded all my build time lately. Plus the garage is much colder now, which saps my motivation to work at night!

Tell me about it... sundays work was basically abandoned, due to freezing cold weather. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note II.
viriiguy
I highly recommend Insulated garage doors. They make all the difference in the world. It has yet to get below 50 in my garage.
Aurich
Just seems like overkill for Southern California, but man, some nights I might not think so!

Lucky if it was over 23 farenheiht on Sunday, and its due to get colder this weekend, with 10cm of snow. viriiguy
It was 31 here a few nights ago. My garage was 52 degrees on the inside. That is with no heat.
