Thanks to take the time to report bugs. Not many people makes the effort. This is the only way to bring HM to initial release.

 

1. Are-you experiencing random setting lost only with EDS, HM or both? (Which version of EDS are-you using?)

2. Free text, ok I will make some test, I haven't used this feature since 1 year. Send me your file that make crash HM, and will fix it.

3. EDS close all; You are right, close all is a rude application shut down by nature (same approach then RocketLaunch close). Users shouldn't use EDS in conjunction with HM when configuration HM.  

4. tick edit mode off: Sevenseal has a point; Previous HM versions config is not recommended. Make sure that you have created your config from fresh new version to avoid any doubts. Give it a try and please let me know if you are still experiencing this issue. If it stil does, I will fix the problem.

1. Actually I'm occasionally losing settings in both HM and EDS. Either no HM's load in which case I just copy back my backed up EDS folder and it all works again or sometimes one HM will no longer load and when I check the settings file for that HM I notice it is completely blank. So I copy that setting file from my backup folder and it is all good again. These problems don't happen often but they do happen. I don't have any issues with any other part of my mame setup so it's only EDS and HM that appear to have these problems at the moment. BTW: I'm using 0.7.5 latest EDS.

 

2. OK will be good to see if results from testing the free text feature. In the meantime I will do another complete new install and see if that helps first and if not I'll send you my file. My TXT file is nothing special though, just a few words in a notepad pure text file.

 

3. No problems with the EDS close all. I understand. Perhaps something to add as a warning to the documentation before final release.

 

4. Sounds like the 'tick edit off' is localised to my config. So again I'll do another complete reinstall from fresh. This takes a lot of time as I have 8 individual HM's to set up again and reconfigure. 

 

Also while I remember, In the font size selection box the scroll window is very small (only shows about three font sizes at once). I find that the arrows are not always clickable when trying to scroll the font sizes up or down and using the mouse wheel is so fast that I need to keep scrolling up and down to hopefully land near the font size I want. I could change my mouse wheel speed but that affects everything else and I shouldn't need to for just one application. If the font size window was bigger I'm sure I wouldn't zoom past the font size I want so easily or if the clickable buttons were more responsive then I'd be able to go up or down by one font.

1. if you notice lost of data?

what kind of a harddrive are you using?

if you have a ssd... then it will explain the lost of data. under solid state drive on hard usage the data become corruptted quite easy due to ware and tear... only major drawback of lightning fast speed.

next if it is a large size hdd or old hdd.... i would defrag it... due to wide spread cluster on a hdd can produce data lost when constantly access certain file...

short story is.... make your file "read-only" after you have finish editing to your liking so that they dont become corruptted or continue to make backups then replace when bad files happen.

Thanks Sevenseal. I only have these problems with EDS and HM. Every other program including windows doesn't have any issues. Therefore I have no reason to suspect the hard drive. Thanks for your suggestion.

just a suggestion but just you know, that when a harddrive has heavy duty usage in it sectors and certain clusters... meaning only isolated areas can get damage or become corrupt.

putting a program in admin mode puts the program in read+write premission active constant until the program closes.

meaning it will hold hostage of the files the program's access, during that time if a crash/issue occurred the files will be damage due to partial write and remaining info stuck in ram, ram is flushed once the program is closed.

just saying, might want to be careful of admin mode on app/programs.

i suggest if you dont need to use admin mode to make program function in your pc environment/setup then i wouldnt use it if you dont need it

what i am concluding that it doesnt always effect as a whole due to what i stated above.

Point 1: (Loosing settings) This is unfortunate, I have tried to fix that problem and I thought it was fixed since no one has reported this since my last fix almost a year ago. But I guess it is still happening, I really want to get rid of that bad behavior. (For now do backups.)

In light of Sevenseal's comments above regarding data flushing for programs being run in admin mode. Is it possible that this could be the cause of the problem? If so, is there a way to force flush any pending writes as they are needed to reduce the likelihood of corruption of the files if an unexpected interruption occurs? How do other programs handle this as I have run many applications in admin mode without similar data corruption risks.

I have put online a new version 4.12 for sevenseal and you to test. Please note that Free_Text Marquee Style has been removed from HyperMarquee. See instruction below to see how to access Free_Text.

 

New functionalities within Beta Version 0.4.12 - Upgrade ~ 2016-03-28

 

• Bug fixed when using wildcard (fields) upper case for [system].

• Bug fixed when using User Text File (load external file) with files shorter than 200 characters.

• Free_Text Marquee Style has been removed from HyperMarquee for streamlining reasons. You can still use Free_Text passed by HM fifth parameter command line. Simply use the new WildCard named [FreeText] under Digital_Text Style -> Text Appearance -> Gameinfo/HyperList.

 

NB: Previous Free_Text Style versions are not compatible with 0.4.12.

 

Installation: Copy and replace HyperMarquee.exe within your main HyperMarquee folder.

Attention: Make a backup of HyperMarquee folder (all files) before testing!!

 

For point 1 (see previous post). I doubt, but maybe. I would be surprised. One other possibility is that HS close (kill) ledblinky.exe when he needs to. (Hope not). As a reminder, HS launch and manage LedBlindy.exe process.

 

Please test 0.4.12 and let me know. I haven't tested it other than quick house testing.

So I just got HM setup and working nicely but noticed many issues in MAME in terms of slowdown.  All other resource-intensive emulators work fine, such as PCSX2, Dolphin, Sega Model 3 - even with shaders these work perfectly well.  Does MAME have some workaround or fix for restoring full speed when using two displays?

 

Here's my system specs:

 

i5 gen2 3.00ghz, 8GB ram, GTX 750ti.  

 

My mame.ini doesn't have the dual display text but I assumed I didn't need it since I'm using HM.  Any ideas?

at this point, i would check your video card drivers or try mame 171 and see if you have the same issue?

there were many changes made in mame 172 that might be the issue.... it was a start of a new phase for mame emulator

are you using eds with? and also do you your artwork pointing to main menu's media files?

I'm using eds to launch marquess. I have one of my xml's setup to point toward media files where main menu is a subfolder where all the other emulator artwork are. Ps. I saw your dream machine very nice. That how I figured someone here knows how to make Hyper marquee fully work. Also thank you for any assistance you can give.

are you still having issue? if so please post your parameter that you have placed in eds for hypermarquee?

thats explains your issue, you have to use the latest hyperspin to be able to do the main menu, any previous hyperspin, requires additional to make it function

True, any previous HS versions require a hack for the main manu to work. That's why any support to users has to be preceded by those basic information. Thanks everyone.
