evh347 Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Can anyone help me with the appropriate entry in EDS or HyperMarquee to get the System Marquees to change on the main menu wheel selection as an event? I have gotten all the game marquees to change with events, but I can't figure out why the System Marquees aren't changing. I inputted the correct path to the marquees in the System Image Folder field. My MAME marquee tests okay. The MAME marquee displays when I launch HS. When I cycle thru the games, I get the game Marquee fine. But when I go back to the Systems wheel, I can't get any system marquee to display (blank). If I go back to select a game, the game marquees show up again. My first artwork option points to the \marquee\[filename].png My 1st alternate artwork points to the \wheel\[filename].png My 2nd alternate artwork points to the \system marquees\[system].png A screenshot of somebody's settings for displaying system marquees would be great! Thanks.

xzotic Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I can't seem to get HM to load a text file under options: Text Appearance [TAB], Select Text Source [box], User Text File [Radio button and filename entry]. If I choose a plain TXT file here of any type it won't show after closing the settings. If I then try and restart the HM it crashes with a windows not responding message (I'm on Win 10 by the way). All my other HM's are working fine. This is the first time that I've tried the User Text File feature and it doesn't seem to matter what TXT file I try and select every time it shows nothing and then crashes on the next load. Any ideas?

Nocturnaloner Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Instead of replacing my cabinet marquee with a monitor, I decided to put a smaller LCD above my main monitor. This one is 1280 x 390, which should be a very good resolution for displaying most marquees: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VGA-LCD-controller-board-RT2270-14-9inch-1280x390-LTA149B780F-LCD-screen/201243729864
flaedda Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Hi, I use Hypermarquee with vlc to play Backglassvids for PinballFX2. The video would be played ONE time if EDS raises the event. How I can set it up that the video would be played repeatly in HM?

flaedda Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 in the artwork tab on the leftside toward bottom middle there is a opition for repeat or loop That one it is labeld Animated GIF repeat? It's set to repeat, but it has no effect to the video.
sevenseal Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 That one it is labeld Animated GIF repeat? It's set to repeat, but it has no effect to the video. when you made the changes did you exit HM all the way out next question? did you use VLC provide in with HM or did you get it from VLC's website? VLC 3.0 is required and HM is needed to pointed to that player the official release is at 2.2 use hyperspin download section to download it from the Hypermarquee section you can also open vlc player is set the default setting as such as volume, repeat, vlc setting then close it

Antos Posted February 24, 2016 Author Posted February 24, 2016 sevenseal, Even when I change [system] to [Filename] it still doesn't work. Which version of HyperSpin do you use? This as an impact of the way to fix your prob. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
sevenseal Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 please answer antos question, he right on point with what i was going to ask from you
evh347 Posted February 25, 2016 Posted February 25, 2016 Which version of HyperSpin do you use? This as an impact of the way to fix your prob. HS 1.3.2.0
Antos Posted February 25, 2016 Author Posted February 25, 2016 This is it my freind. Two options for you - exclusive; 1st - Upgrade HS to Beta version 1.4. Previous versions do not support calls at root level. Or, 2nd - Install the app HS File Watcher - This is the more complex option. Cheers, HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System

evh347 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 when you are on the main menu, the system at the time is "main menu".... so it will not change into anything else that you highlight because you are telling to look for a main menu.png at all time while you are there. Okay, I'm still having problems. Now the system marquee is changing whenever I switch systems on the main menu, but it is cycling between system marquee images that I can't even locate on my system. Clearly, I do not understand what you mean by it looking for "main menu.png". Where are those files? They are not in my HyperMaruqee directory and I have no idea where its looking to see them. I pointed my System Images folder to: D:\Games\Hyperspin\Media\SystemMarquees\[FileName].png And my artwork is now just: D:\Games\Hyperspin\Media\[system]\Images\Marquee\[FileName].png D:\Games\Hyperspin\Media\[system]\Images\Wheel\[FileName].png The game and wheel marquees are cycling fine within a system wheel. But back on the Main Menu, I'm getting images that aren't in my System Marquees folder. This is happening in EDS "HyperSpinEventIntegrator" in test also as long as the System is "Main Menu" and the game is whatever system I'm giving it. I tried clearing out all three paths, saving, and restarting. HyperMarquee still behaved as though I had set the paths.

evh347 Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 you are missing \ in between marquee and the wildcard [filename]. in addition, if you notice in your media folder there is a folder called main menu.... that where it is coming from.. The path had a typo, but thanks for noticing. The actual path did not have the typo. As soon as I dropped my System Marquees into my D:\Games\Hyperspin\Media\Main Menu\Images\Marquee path.....it all started working. Thanks for sticking w/ me and helping me out!
Nocturnaloner Posted February 26, 2016 Posted February 26, 2016 Is there a complete tutorial to get Hypermarquee working with Hyperspin? I haven't found one yet. I'm trying to run Hypermarquee 0.4.7, and Hyperspin 1.4. I've configured the HM paths, and installed EDS. I renamed the EDS executable to LEDBlink.exe I put my Hypermarquee folder inside my RocketLauncher folder, and put Mame.ahk in the RocketLauncher folder as well. So far, I have no art appearing on my Hypermarquee when I run Hyperspin, just the semi-opaque window is shown. The included instructions PDF seems to be badly out of date. Also, it stops giving direct instructions by the end, and simply lists features, so it's very hard to follow. Are there any changes to be made inside EDS? The manual is not clear about this, and neither is the EDS manual. Are there any changes to be made to the Mame.ahk script? The manual lists changes that are already present in the file. Sorry to sound critical! I'm just excited to get it working.

Few comments (no particular order); - It is recommended to use the latest HM and EDS version. - Documentation: Even if the documentation hasn't been updated since a while (true), it is still relevant and accurate. (read first (if not already done) and then we will provide support - support is usually active and pretty responsive here - sevenseal is the official support person, don't miss your chance if he has some time for you!) - Installation: Recommended to follow setup & installation quick guide in the first post of EDS thread. - EDS & HM configuration might be scary at first, but once completed users are pretty happy. In order to manage expectations, EDS and HM are not plug and play due to many external factors. It will need some investment of yours. - Please try to keep EDS questions within EDS thread and the same for HyperMarquee. - To launch HyperMarquee, you have 2 options (see documentation); Using EDS OR using AHK. The vast majority of users use EDS that I am aware of. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System

I can successfully send commands via 'Try' from EDS to Hypermarquee, and change the marquee image on my second monitor. The problem seems to be that Hyperspin is not sending the information of the game switch to EDS, even though the path in HyperLaunch is set to 'LEDBlink.exe' and the EDS executable is re-named as 'LEDBlink.exe'. What should I check? How could I turn on an error log?
