Ok, Thanks ,So according to the creator of Groovymame, Groovymame doe not work well with numscreens 1 . So I am thinking I need to have Mame run the Marquees . Unless someone else has successfully used Groovymame   , with HM, and HS.  Thanks

Did you try the settings I provided to you in the previous post? This is really very simple. I have tested GroovyMame in the past and had no issues with HyperMarquee.

Yes. I have a setup with
Numscreens 1

And the marquee works perfect , but some of the Mame games run too fast not all of them but some . I was told by calamity that Groovymame does not work well with this setting and a third party program running in the same screen .

Hi. I previously got older versions of HM and EDS working with HyperSpin 1.3, but I'm having trouble getting the new versions (HM 0.4.15.1 and EDS 0.8.1) working with HS 1.4.16. Can you look at my files and help me figure it out? Also, I can't seem to save my HM config. It says it saved, but it's nowhere to be found to load it, so, every time I start HM, I have to start from scratch. As far as I can tell, my HM and EDS security permissions are good. There's a CREATOR OWNER account that doesn't have permissions, but it's not letting me change that in Windows. The rest of the accounts say full permissions. In EDS, I clicked the . . . and told it where the HM exe is. I gave HyperHQ the path to LEDBlinky too.

Here's a link to my config files and some screenshots: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B7hRdDVO-K2_LV9SbVhQNlhPR1k?usp=sharing

Thank you very much for any help!

If anyone wants high quality marquees, I have them here, along with a list of the rom names: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B7hRdDVO-K2_dDQtMEJMdWYtWUk

I figured it out. The Hypermarquee installer does not create a "settings" folder. HM wouldn't save anything I configured until I created that folder. Marquees are showing while in HyperSpin now, but they're disappearing when I press my start button (z) on a game, and I don't know why.

Mamefan is likely right for the default "settings" folder. I will look to see what is happening.

As an easy workaround, if you are a new user, make sure to create "settings" folder in the HM default directory. Otherwise, you will have problems.

I am surprised to see that error hasn't reported more often?!

If you remember, thats the same error I had a few weeks ago. I had to create the folder so it would save the settings. I fumbled around for a few days with it.

it is involving personal pc security setup, by default on windows 10 is strictly high... any program install in the default "program file" folder has strict user access... high security will prevent write/read.... which is sometime needed for some users to run our third-party programs in "run in admin" mode to function correctly when security is set that high. If the security is not changed; which requires the client users themselves to create folders or files after the initial install.

my suggestion is avoid install our programs on the "programs files" folder and install somewhere else.

The fix for the disappearing marquees was using pipe (cli). The default was pipe.

Just want to reiterate that Pipe works well, but behave differently depending on what you are trying to do. :)

Some teasers of an new application that will be released at one point of time. This will replace HyperMarquee... It's progressing well, just passing development half way.

Antos, will this new application run on Windows XP?  Also, is there a way to run HyperMarquee on Windows XP?  I am having trouble with this, since HyperMarquee requires .net Framework 4.5.1, which is unable to run on Windows XP.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Also, can you share more information on this new program that is going to replace HyperMarquee?

Hi, I'm having an issue that I haven't been able to find the answer to. I apologize in advance if this has been covered before and I missed it in the 40+ pages on HM.

My issue is with the wild card function. With the [filename].png wild card inserted in my path to marquee art I get a blank marquee or the HM logo to display only. This happens when using the "try" or "launch all applications" or when HS is launched. If I change the wild card to "1943.png" for example, the 1943 marquee displays fine. Of course it displays 1943 no matter what game I'm actually playing.  Unfortunately I'm an auto mechanic not a computer genius like most everyone on here seems to be. Any additional information you need from me I will do my best to supply. Thank you for any help you can give me and for making HM.

are you using eds along with hypernarquee?

hypermarquee doesnt work standalone by itself

if not, that is easiest way to get function without much issue is to setup eds with it

Your not calling an "game" "system" or "event" on EDS when you call for HyperMarquee

false MAME-Marquee_Artwork "[game]" "[system]" "" [event] - this is how mine looks and runs perfect

Getting closer thanks for the help so far.

I put in "[game]" "[system]" [event] in my parameters

now when in EDS I get the correct marquee image when using the "try" or "launch all applications" buttons. But when I launch HS I still get a blank marquee. It seems HS is sending the info to EDS??? but no image just shaded grey marquee.

Your missing two quote marks between the one after system and before event.

Try checking our CBR as well. I am still kind of new I could be wrong but I will try and help you figure this out.

vader is correct about the missing parameters, in addition you do not need [event] portion unless you use events type wildcards for such as speak or sound, or similar things

ex;

false MAME-Marquee_Artwork "[game]" "[system]"

it should look like this

next question, in the eds folder did you rename the module file to Ledblinky.exe?
