My main problem is that when running a game using Groovymame everything disappears off the LCD screen including the desktop background. I've tried using the lcd screen connected to the built-in igpu and also the the main graphics card via dvi. Anybody have any insight? I'm a little confused with what you're trying to troubleshoot at this time, given that you said you'd make sure HyperMarquee is on the left when you get that far. What exactly are you trying to accomplish at this point? One thing I might suggest, you might want to try and get everything setup properly with the original distribution of MAME first. You'd be more likely to get useful help in troubleshooting your problems in regards to HyperMarquee. Once configured properly, it should be pretty straightforward to switch over to Groovymame. At the very least you know how it should be working once you switch over.
sevenseal Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Sevenseal: This has nothing to do with running MAME in fullscreen. I'm successfully using HyperMarquee while running MAME in fullscreen, and as previously discussed between us, it is necessary to run MAME in fullscreen when using an arcade monitor. I've always appreciated your input and help with HyperMarquee, but in regards to using HyperMarquee with a real arcade monitor, it seems that you're continually replying with bad information. Do you guys have a FAQ in another post or website somewhere? I'd be happy to share the configuration you guys have helped me build. It works perfectly.sound like you have expertise? if you want to imply your knowledge then know your respect because it seem you have none. get an idea where you are stating before you mention it, sadly you are one of the downfall which dont help. seriously stop the attack or get support else where? no respect whats so ever to one of the member of this project

I'm going to PM you separately, because it has no place in this thread and should be brought offline. For the record, MAME does *not* have to be in windowed mode for HyperMarquee to work correctly. That is the bad information I'm trying to correct here. My configuration files on page 23 of this thread are proof of it. Thanks.
Antos Posted January 9, 2017 Author Posted January 9, 2017 Hi guy's, We are all sharing the same passion and I do value a lot when people are sharing support, knowledge, experiences and findings. This is a real benefit to the community. Sometimes, we may not agree, which is ok. But I do value improvements driven by science and evidences base decisions. So, at the end, proposed solutions will have to be tagged working (or not). I really appreciate when all of you jump in and contribute, but please, do it with respect regardless if you are right or wrong. If something happened (and it will sometimes), I recommend a private and friendly chat between you (so big deal). On that note, thank you all for your excellent contribution. Keep sharing your ideas, findings, screenshot, videos!! I love it. Cheers, antos. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
scoodidabop Posted January 9, 2017 Posted January 9, 2017 Been playing with the new EDS a lot (8.1). It's working really great! Sometimes it doesn't load the system images when I choose a system but it only happens maybe 1 in 20 times or less, and it's fixed just by backing up to the main menu and selecting the system again. All the crash issues I was having are 100% fixed. I've "Flash crashed" hyperspin quite a few times on purpose (white screen with exclaimation) from leaving it on overnight and EDS remains stable. With previous versions of EDS (see my posts earlier in the thread) the EDS settings were getting corrupted every time Hyperspin crashed. Again, now it is stable and performs quickly and beautifully. Great work!! It's seriously worry-free operation now. BTW my setup is a 30" 16:10 LCD (primary monitor) connected via DVI and Vitrolight 28" x 6" LCD (marquee) connected via HDMI. Haven't tried with CRT primary monitor but I'm sure it'll be just as good once the fullscreen issue is solved. Oh - one sidebar: Several Taito Type X games don't work when running dual monitors. BlazBlue, Samurai Showdown and several others simply crash when using a dual monitor setup. This is the fault of the games themselves, not Hypermarquee. This issue in TTX may never get a patch so my simple workaround is to just power the marquee LCD down before launching those games.

scoodidabop Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Oh yeah, that might be the issue. I think I was using Pipe (CLI) since it was the fastest performance between switching graphics.

I suspected CLI... Is this only happening on the main wheel? HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
vincefaro Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Hi , Antos, I just received a 2nd monitor that is an LCD stretched 26". I am trying to get the software to display an image on the 2nd monitor. I currently am running Hyperspin latest version , I also have EDS but I have no idea how to set that up. on a I5 Processor My 26 LCD is connected through DVI, and my CRT is split connected through VGA. 16 Gb Ram ATI 4550 card Groovymame 1st monitor is a 27 CRT Can you help me setup? I followed your video tutorial . I have a saved setup that points to my Marquee images for each system but I do not see anything when I run HyperMarquee. Can anyone help? Thanks
vincefaro Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Ok, After reading nearly All of this topic, I got it to work , at least when I VPN into the machine . I will try for real when I get home. Do I just move the Marquee image over to the other stretched LCD and leave it there?

vincefaro Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Ok ,So I got my LCD Marquee up and going. Its working but I have some questions. So far The window does not stay where i place it on the LCD monitor when I shutdown it starts up on the main screen and not the LCD marquee screen , is there something I am not doing? I downloaded all of the marquee artwork which is great. Some marquee artwork does not fit on the screen i imagine i have to resize it to fit my specific screen?

If you're closing and re-opening HyperSpin/HyperMarquee and it's not saving the position, then what SevenSeal said. If it is saving the position, but getting lost after a reboot, maybe try setting your XML config files to read only. A couple times in the past my configuration randomly got blown out. After that I set my files to Read Only and it never happened again. Regarding the artwork size, yes, you have to resize yourself. My marquee screen is 1366x384. I did a batch resize on all my marquees to match so that they all fill the screen perfectly. I use ACDSee, but FastStone Photo Resizer (freeware) should do the job.
sevenseal Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 just so that you know HM has the ability to resize as needed, fill to exact resolution that you as estate, or file to maximum while maintaining ratio which often leads to spacing...there are many opitions without the need to manually edit your entire source library to suit your personal needsdepends on your taste honestly
scoodidabop Posted January 17, 2017 Posted January 17, 2017 Update: I had some issues with HDMI in on the Vitrolight panel I was using so I switched it over to the intel VGA output off the main motherboard. So now my main monitor is powered by the graphics card and the marquee is powered by the motherboard. The framerate on the transition animations is much lower though. The upshot is that all the TTX games load perfectly since the 2nd monitor isn't connected to the graphics card. A good trade off if you ask me.

MydknyteStyrm Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I think you and I are having the same issue. I run HM on a 1900x1200 LG monitor, and most of my games are run at the native resolution of my main monitor. The only emulator that causes this "shift" in HM is Sega Model 2 and Taito Type X. I've tried to change the resolution of the emulator output, but it still causes the HM monitor to shift to the right dramatically. I dont know if this was fixed in an update, I haven't updated my HM or HyperEDS in a while.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk My posts on page 44 discuss how to fix this, but here's the gist of it: Open up your display properties (Control Panel -> Display -> Change display settings) Your two monitors will be shown here. Swap the location of your monitors, by simply dragging the monitor on the left over to the right (note: do not change which monitor is your main/primary). Once done, your main monitor should be on the right, and the extended display monitor will be on the left. Once the settings are applied, you can test with the mouse. Moving the mouse left past the left border of your main monitor should bring the mouse to your marquee monitor. Open HyperMarquee and re-position the window if needed. With the extended (marquee) display to the left and the primary (emulator) display on the right (according to Windows display properties), the shifting of resolutions from your emulator on the primary display will not affect the location of the marquees on the extended display.
processedmeat Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Thanks Antos and sevenseal for this great software. I'm putting together a dynamic marquee for my Neo Geo that has will show "5 slots" and I was wondering if it was possible to have Hypermarquee not only pull up the slot artwork for the game that is focus but also the slot artwork for the 2 previous games before it and the 2 after it as I scroll up and down on the wheel. Something like this with 3countb in focus: | whp| | wjammers | |3countb| |alpham2| |androdun| then when scroll to alpham2 on the wheel | wjammers | |3countb| |alpham2| |androdun| |aodk| then when scroll to androdun on the wheel |3countb| |alpham2| |androdun| |aodk| |aof|
Antos Posted February 2, 2017 Author Posted February 2, 2017 Good one! You are trying to do a wheel. I have no clue for now, but AHK scripting. That will not be easy/quick if you are not a coder.. Unless sevenseal can think of something clever? In the futur, a new product that I am working on (Fusion Display), will have that capacity. HyperMarquee & Event Dispatch System
processedmeat Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 So I figured out a pretty crude way of making this work. I made 5 artwork folders, one for each slot, and using the Advanced Renamer program and an csv spreadsheet of the file names, I renamed the images that went into the 1st slot, two games previous to the one that the wheel is on. The 2nd slot, I renamed the images one game previous to the one in focus. The fourth, one game after, and the fifth two games after the one in focus. So as a result, all of the images in the five slots of the first photo below are named panicbomber but they each reside in a different artwork folder. In the second photo, they are all named puzzlebobble2, and in the third, they are all named puzzlebobble. As I scroll the wheel, you can see the Puzzle Bobble image move from the far right to the middle. I think to make the effect more pronounced, maybe I can darken the ones that aren't in focus and make the one in middle brighter using the shaders. I had worried that I would have had to rename them all by hand, but thank goodness for that program which allowed me to assign the new image file names in a spreadsheet.
