Thinking about this some more, what exactly does RL have to do with my problem?  Maybe I don't understand it like I thought I did, lol, but if those extra characters weren't put in there, which are equal to a space I believe, everything would work fine, right?  So what does RL have to do with it?  Just trying to understand...

I mean, if I manually remove those characters from the DB, it works fine, so I'm sure that's all that needs to happen because when I manually remove them, everything is fine.

It's just my luck, Ninja!  Just my luck.  I have the weirdest, hardest to figure out problems.  I still have things going on with my setup that nobody can explain lol.

The exe tag tells RocketLauncher what system setup should launch the game. So if you have a mame game it goes to to RocketLauncher to launch the fade and bezel as well. If you don’t want to use the app you could many tags each game in the xml to launch correctly in rl and not use xmlspin

No, I want to use the app.  I love the app.  But what I'm saying is, if I go into the database, Tetris.xml for instance, and leave the exe tags, but just remove the extra characters in front of the game name, it launches fine.  So if those extra characters weren't put in there, everything would be fine, right?

I'm sure I"m missing something, but I'm not understanding what that is...

I've done some more testing and sure enough, if I remove those characters, the game DOES load, but... The Fade screen doesn't show and the bezel doesn't work.

So, what does that mean exactly and is there anything I can do about it?

So does your Tetris.xml have those weird characters in front of the names, too, but it works without problem, or do you not have those weird characters?  I don't have them on all systems/entries, just about half of them.  Do you have them on any of them?

I just remembered you said you weren't using the latest version... I'd like to know what happens if you upgrade to the latest version and recreate the database.  See if you can reproduce the error.

R0man0 came through and offered a fix that works great for me.

I'm not sure I understand exactly what he did but he said the "real" fix will have to come from RocketLauncher. 

It works great for me, though, so I'm happy.

hi , sorry for the delay , in order to fix that definitivly i've asked a request into rocket launcher forum . Because the real fix must come from rocketlauncher executable.

 

but here is a solution if you are using rocketlauncher and if your hyperxmlspin lists have doubles fixed with spaces:

-download the hyperxmlspin beta attached to this message

-replace the existing hyperxmlspin by this hyperxmlspin beta

-open the hyperspin/settings/settings.ini file

-replace your actual Hyperlaunch_Path pointing to your rocketlauncher executable by full path pointing to hyperxmlspin executable (exemple):

Hyperlaunch_Path= F:\RocketLauncher\RocketLauncher.exe

by your hyperxmlspin path :

Hyperlaunch_Path= F:\HyperSpin\HyperXMLspin.exe

 

i've made some tests with hyperxmlspin games old/new , spaces/no spaces , hyperspin normal games, through rocketlauncher  all works fine.

Please note that is not a "real fix" : because with new tag <exe></exe> , hyperXMLspin musn't be a game launcher as hyperlaunch or rocketlauncher, that's why i hope that rocketlauncher team could solve this problem.

Alright, the program itself is now working great.  Actually, everything in my setup is working great.

I do have one MAJOR problem, though, and I bet it will affect everyone else, too.

I went to make a backup today and the way I do that is just copy my HyperSpin and RocketLauncher folders to another drive.

Using Windows 10 regular copy, it got stuck when it came across the first symlink.

So then I tried Xcopy from a command line.  It said file not found and aborted the copy when it got to the first symlink.

Then I tried a backup program called AOMEI backup and it errored out, too.

I can't copy my directories or make an image of them in a backup which is a major problem.  I need to be able to make a backup.

What should I do?

To create the system links I think you could just run hyperxmlspin once and press update media and it will do its thing, problem solved

Yes , copy a symlink to another drive will not works : that will not create a symlink but just copy media (that will takes more place on backup than on original drive)

that's  because symlink must pointing to same ntfs hdd ...(ex : drive F/ to drive F/)

Your solution , as ninja2bceen said , is to made a backup without copy symlinks then made an update medias from hyperxmlspin (thats takes few seconds)

How can I easily make a backup without the SymLinks, though?  They're all over the place.  It would take forever to deselect them from the backup.

Ok , finally it seems possible to copy symlinks with xcopy in adminmode : try this command : xcopy /e /b /i /h Path_In Path_out

exemple :

xcopy /e /b /i /h C:\HYPERSPIN\Media f:\my-folder\media

I thought it was going to work, but I got a file creation error, a required privilege is not held by the client error message.

You need to run cmd or powershell in admin mode , right clik then run as admin

to get admin rights you have to right click on cmd then run as admin , or right click on button start and select powershell(admin)

Is there a way to exclude one wheel from the search results easily?

For instance, I have a favorites wheel, but everything on the favorites wheel is already on my Mame wheel, so every time I create a new wheel, I get duplicate entries.  I'd like to be able to exclude the favorites wheel so that doesn't happen.

Can I do that?  How?
