Yeah, going into Retroarch is normal. I normally just close the game window, as Hyperspin should still be running in the background. You just need to download the cores you wish to use, Retroarch doesn't contain any cores until you download them :)

Ok, after loading the core in retroarch now works....but when i want to close a game in hyperspin ,it comes back to the retroarch menú, is it that normal?

please set a quick menu shortcut, that uses combine keys, it is in input menu of retroarch, it is off by default

Hi. Im having same issue on the Shield TV. Setup everything according to this guide. My Hyperspin folder is on sdcard1. I am trying 1 emu, NES. I renamed the roms according to the XML file. The roms work in retroarch yet they wont load in hyperspin.

These are the first few lines of my ini file.

[exe info]
path=H:\hyperspin\Emulators\Nintendo Entertainment System\
rompath=Emulators/Nintendo Entertainment System/roms/
userompath=true
exe=com.retroarch/com.retroarch.browser.retroactivity.RetroActivityFuture
romextension=zip,nes
parameters=cores/nestopia_libretro_android.so
searchsubfolders=true
pcgame=false
winstate=HIDDEN
hyperlaunch=true

Any help is appreciated.

I dont get it. I absolutely dont get it. The Tutorial is a little bit to blurry. I dont find any solution and it worked not one time. Only with ArchBrowser and there was game installed in hypespin (2020 Baseball) that dont exist in the rom path. I cannot load the rom and im trying since 4 hours. Nathing work absolutely nathing. Retroarch is completely new to me. I dont knwo what i have to do with it. and so on sry i know its hard work to make to tutorials but this tutorial helped me not. :/ Sry if im a lil bit disrespectfull im fucking pissed because nathing works. We tryed so fucking many ways now and nathing. He only starts hyperspin (but wow you install it via google app) but i dont know what it have to do with the folder (with exe files) on my sdcard. The paths are wrong thats not the prob but its frustrating if you search 2 hours then you see oh nice the paths are bullshit. Whatever hyperspin rocks but this tutorials explain 10% of the whole thing. And the PC setup tutorials are nonsense for android. Other progs and launcher and whatever. I dont wanne blame you you are surely skilled but plz write a better tutorial this tutorial dont work. I did it 1 to 1 nathing. Roms still missing. bah im so fucking pissed im not stupid or a kid or whatever but the whole thing makes no sense i need cores for the retroarc and bios files and whatever. WTF

It works. Had to download in RetroArc the Core for bsnes. This would be fine if it stands in the tutorials this small things can things fucking up :> The rest is perfect. Nice would be if anybody can descripe the tools from Don better and so on. But Trial and Error anytime it will work. Sry for my temper. :>

Dude at first what are u using the same tools like in the turoial? Important is you download the "bios" in retroarch. For Super Nintendo as example bsnes_.... Its called core. Its important because he will not find any rom without this process. Then you have to write nathing in path. I have read the settings post. And you clean your file. And sry for yesterday i was so fucking tired. :D

Super Nintendo Entertainment System.ini (i cleaned the ini from stupid commands that are not supported

*IMPORTANT* The path is empty and its fine. Its not supported in the android version. rompath is a absolute path. That means if you mount it with a sd you have to write the thing. THis is important and dont do it different. If you mount a sd card with your hyperspin use /mnt/ then the sdcard directory and the rest is like in the tutorial. Sry my englisch sucks. Im native german.

TripleA - I did not use Don's tools as Im on a Mac. I believe my issue is in the rompath. After I edited my ini to your specs, I did see a message when Hyperspin ran that external storage was mounted. One thing I noticed on the Nvidia Shield TV is when I copied over my Hyperspin folder, the .ini files had a .txt extention added to them. I dont know why android is doing that.  I renamed the SNES ini without the .txt extension and still cannot find the roms. Im still looking and trying things. I did load the core in retroarch and run the rom ok.

Example of a rom Im trying is Chrono Trigger. My rom name is Chrono Trigger (USA).sfc

From the xml file the name is :

<game name="Chrono Trigger (USA)" index="" image="">
        <description>Chrono Trigger (USA)</description>
        <cloneof></cloneof>
        <crc>2d206bf7</crc>
        <manufacturer>Squaresoft</manufacturer>
        <year>1995</year>
        <genre>Role-Playing</genre>
        <rating>Other - NR (Not Rated)</rating>
        <enabled>Yes</enabled>

Here is my current ini for SNES:

Change (mnt) to (storage), and see if that works :)

Inside the Hyperspin.apk the paths are:

builder.setMessage("Valid locations are \"/storage/usbdrive/Hyperspin\", \"/storage/sdcard1/Hyperspin\", or \"/storage/sdcard0/Hyperspin\". Please visit Hyperspin-fe.com for more info.");

So if your hyperspin is loading, it must be using one of them paths, and not /mnt. I could be wrong though, only been learning android coding a week :)

Sting - I had the Hyperspin directory on both a USB drive and the sd card. I removed it from the sdcard and  things started working.  I have NES and SNES roms loading now. I will try this again on my 64gb sd card. I dont know if that caused a problem or not.

The android ini files I downloaded from this site do seem to work as is. So rompath=Emulators/Super Nintendo Entertainment System/roms/ is working. Thanks to all who helped me. Now I'll try to get more emulators working and learn more about hyperspin.

Ok, Something weird is going on here. Hyperspin worked on my USB drive fine. When I copied it to sdcard1, all the ini files in the settings directory had a .txt extension added to them. Then when I ran hyperspin, there were no rom lists on the emus. I renames the NES ini file and tried hyperspin again but NG. I dont know why these files are getting renamed when I copy them to the sdcard.
