White Screen With Exclamation Point In The Middle - Latest HyperSpin

After running HyperSpin for a while, it crashes (consistently) with a white screen with an exclamation point in the middle. It has done this ever since upgrading to HyperSpin 1.3.1. This is what I'm seeing:

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? It is really getting VERY annoying, as I leave the arcade machine running pretty much all the time. I am guessing it is a problem with a MAME theme as that's what I've got in HyperSpin at the time.

Any ideas? Anyone know which theme is doing this (if that's the problem at all -- It seems like if I start HyperSpin before I go to bed, about 8-10 hours later it will be crashed).

Thanks a lot!

I haven't upgraded yet, waiting for the new hyperlaunch and bugs to be fixed. I have read multiple times that the asteroids theme causes this and there is a replacement one floating around here somewhere.

Jump, the revised Asteroid theme is on HyperSync. I believe Rondar fixed it. maybe that will fix your problem. Either that or roll back to 1.2 until the issues are sorted out. I leave my cab on most of the time like you and no probs here with 1.2

Yes, 1.2 worked fine, but I've got al MP4 videos now so I don't know if 1.2 is even an option anymore. I had already replaced the Asteroids theme -- thats not the problem unfortunately... I did updte Flash and Shockwave plugins, just in case. We'll see if that helps...

I think it has to be something to do with the flash animations on one of the themes if it's only going like when left for long periods of time. Try putting the wheel spin timer on a low setting to reduce the chance of getting this error and maybe go through the themes in sections to try and find out if this is the cause. Maybe revert back to 3.1 as I have this and have had no problems with mine with the MP4 videos

(You don't need any plugins for HyperSpin as the plugins are just for browsers, just reinstall Adobe Flash player to this one here (Obviously untick the free Mcafee Scan that is automatically included when you download) http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/)

And this is why I still haven't upgraded to 1.3. Unfortunately, I can't Sync videos anymore being stuck on 1.2. I hope 1.4, or 2.0 is right around the corner and will adress all of these crashing issues. Good luck and let us know if you come across a cure.

I'm not going to let this thread die... Is there a way I can turn on logging of some type so I can try to figure out what is going on here?

Yeah, that's not the problem... Asteroids theme has been fixed. I am extremely frustrated with this bug. It's almost like a time limit! :(

I got this same screen a couple times on mine when left on for long periods but only on the cocktail cabinet. My upright I don't see this issue, both have 1.3 and both are windows 7. The only real difference is the cocktail is set to a single wheel.

I have the same issue. It is not tied to a specific theme or wheel. I can be actively browsing or attract mode can be going. It always happens after awhile. I have never been able to use hyperspin longer than 30 minutes to an hour. This is with 1.3 and 1.3.1. C2D E8400, 4GB RAM, Win7, nvidia 7950GT and last couple of flash versions.

I've Been Researching The Net And I Go Back To My Original Comment Earlier, And I Would Still Suggest It's A Flash Issue, I Don't Have Any Issues With This On My Cabinet After Leaving it On For Over 4 hours, What I Did Do Is, Go Into Your Control Panel, Start/Control Panel/Programs And Features (win vista/7) Or Add And Remove Programs(win XP/98), And In There Anything That Has "JAVA" In The Description "Remove/Uninstall" It, Then Restart The Computer, Then Goto http://get2.adobe.com/flashplayer/ And Re-Download The Latest, That's My Suggestion, There Was A Problem With Flash/Java Back In February With A Potential Virus Or Corrupt JAVA Files But Has Since Been Fixed With The Latest Release. Other Than That I Don't Know If It Would Be HS As I Don't Have This Problem Myself.

For me the problem happens after 8 hours or so of letting HyperSpin run. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Java and Flash player and the issue still remains. Nothing out of the ordinary in the Windows event logs either. I wish there was some way to turn on some kind of logging in HyperSpin to help determine the cause of this...

Bill, is that functionality available?

The only time I have ever seen the ? show up is when I tried to jump ahead in character value (holding right or left for extended period of time). Oddly enough it's because I'm using a "unsupported" system. My XML is manually made to show the actual roms I do have.

Does your error happen on either a system you personally made the XML or does it happen sitting at the main menu wheel or does it happen on any console?

If it's happening on MAME and you're using a filtered custom XML database try the stock one instead.

Just trying to find the common denominator.

Happens on any wheel, including main menu. Most of the time I have it on the MAME wheel which has been modified, but nothing out of the ordinary. It happens on all wheels, after a period of around 8 hours or so... sometimes a bit less, sometimes a bit more.

It seems like every time mine errors out like this (exclamation point), it's when my Windows 7 has an update. I'm going to disable updates for now to see if that does anything.

Have you tried changing to 1.3.1 or 1.2,you could rename a small wheels video set to .flv instead of mp4 just for the sake of reverting the hyperspin and hyper hq version and leave that wheel running to see if the error comes back.
