chillinwater Posted March 19, 2013 Author Posted March 19, 2013 ...Hyper Bezel II, is moving to EmuMovies FTP \upload here\chillinwater\Hyper Bezel II\ Chillinwater this is turning into quite the project my friend. Eyes are peeled on this project with great interest.Based on your blog report...I wouldnt touch it with a 10 foot pole!!! lolThe review? Less than stellar!!! Any chance you could put up a video? Here or your blog? That would be awesome!!! Progress will be on hold for a couple weeks (real life and another project). This app is really nothing without some user contribution since I suck so bad at artwork..I have the eye but not the skills. So thats what people need to keep they're eyes on for now. Upcoming versions will support.... -instruction "cards" displayed at bottom left for now, current consensus -move "strips" displayed at top and bottom if (2) are available, bottom if only one is available. (For now only (2 max)) otherwise too much game real estate is sacrificed IMHO. If cards and strips are both available, only one screen can be displayed at a time but will be choosable while in Mame using video options. This requires alot of manual work initially, then it will be automatic once the images are made available via manual zip extraction and element renaming. -May even add the actual romname bezels (not generic) but again this will be laborious initially. -Support for Mess and all of its systems. (handhelds) would be the primary usage but all systems should work if a user had the need. -Better GameEx support. (pending interest) Currently if it works with GameEx its because you have both HS and GameEx installed. Without HS installed, Im pretty sure it wont work because its dependant on Hyperspin\settings\mame.ini to find the mame artwork directory. ...Hyper Bezel II, is moving to EmuMovies FTP \upload here\chillinwater\Hyper Bezel II\ Game\Theme\Favorites\Genre - List Creation * FatMatch File Renaming for HyperNewbies. jackhammersalm Posted March 19, 2013 Posted March 19, 2013 it a first impressions but I got it working. still needs work but remember I showed great interest in it. if I didn't I wouldn't have even mentioned it The Hyperspin Report writer/editor
resident grouch, Hyperspin facebook modorator
for those who want to read my work
http://thehyperspinreport.blogspot.co.uk

Krakerman Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Just a thought for GameEx users couldn't you put those settings in the Hyper Bezel settings to just locate where the mame.ini file is located instead of where Hyperspin folder is since if just looks to where you store that info in the mame.ini file then GameEx users could just edit the mame.ini manually to where the MAME folder is located at? Or just put that info in the Hyper Bezel settings then it just uses those settings to find the MAME folders.
chillinwater Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 thats where it will be in a couple days (with incremental update). It shouldnt take long but then I need to test it to make sure I dont break anything. Then it wont be dependant at all on Hyperspin location and would\should truly work with all FE's. I gotta get back to studying...I F'd off all day...oops! lol Game\Theme\Favorites\Genre - List Creation * FatMatch File Renaming for HyperNewbies. Roadrunner Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Wow, this is really cool. Nice work... I've got the widescreen bezels on my games a long time ago (before there was a hyperbezel) but it was a painful manual process. Not sure if you want it but I've created some different generic Mame WS bezels that I posted a while back in the main forum. If you want to use them, they're in my folder on the FTP. The thread on it can be found here: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?22250-MAME-Widescreen-bezel&p=210034&viewfull=1#post210034 Edit: Just noticing that you're looking for some different artwork for the bezels... you'll find red and blue with lazer stripe that I created in that link. Feel free to use it for your project. Atari 2600 Theme Pack - Now Uploaded! Krakerman Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 The one issue I find with Hyper Bezel is it will overwrite an existing generic bezel in the artwork file. Be nice to have an option to disable that if you have one that exist. Reason being is you may like a custom bezel that you made, but Hyper Bezel will overwrite it.
chillinwater Posted March 20, 2013 Author Posted March 20, 2013 Thanks RoadRunner...I may have already stol....errr a borrowed them. lol I'll check again though!! Oh and HBII is for Generic bezels and only supplement your bezels when romnamed bezels dont exist. @Krakerman see this post....the issue is explained there http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/9112-bezels/page-2#entry101267 lol man im busy just tracking down threads now and trying to keep up!! ...Hyper Bezel II, has moved to EmuMovies FTP \upload here\chillinwater\Hyper Bezel II\ Game\Theme\Favorites\Genre - List Creation * FatMatch File Renaming for HyperNewbies. Roadrunner Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Thanks RoadRunner...I may have already stol....errr a borrowed them. lol I'll check again though!! Okay no problem. There's blue ones available now. There's red only and blue only for all different sizes. The original was red and blue together and they're on there too. Oh and HBII is for Generic bezels and only supplement your bezels when romnamed bezels dont exist. That's fine. I already manually put in the generic bezels in my games. Painful but worth it. My cabinet is blue and red so I used the blue/red one... Would've been nice to have been able to use your app but what's done is done I guess. Let me know if you want me to create some more bezels... happy to do it if you don't have enough. Atari 2600 Theme Pack - Now Uploaded! Roadrunner Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Created this today. It's based on the universal theme I made a while ago and it's a hyperspin bezel rather than a Mame one. Pyramid_Head Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Tried a few more games that doon't have bezel artwork etc.. (mostly horizontal games) but I didn't get the option in video options.
jackhammersalm Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Remember the HS path must be exact or it won't work. it's really irritating took me forever to set it up The Hyperspin Report writer/editor
resident grouch, Hyperspin facebook modorator
for those who want to read my work
http://thehyperspinreport.blogspot.co.uk
Pyramid_Head Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Yeah, all the paths are correct as it works for vertical games. But doesn't seem to be working for horizontal games.

chillinwater Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Remember the HS path must be exact or it won't work. it's really irritating took me forever to set it up HS paths can be exact like... C:\Hyperspin\ or relative like... ..\Hyperspin\ As with all apps and programming, The paths have to be "Correct" and with this app and staying with the HyperLaunch flow of things, a "\" on the end Tried a few more games that doon't have bezel artwork etc.. (mostly horizontal games) but I didn't get the option in video options. Same here... Cant get it working for Horizontal games, but working for verticals...- J* Is they're a log file in your Hyper Bezel folder? (i dont think I log .lay files existence yet...somthing more to add) If Verticals are working... Your path to HS is correct. So it sounds like you dont have the .lay file designated in the settings installed in the \mame\artwork\_generic-bezel\Horizontal\ folder. Check to see if the .lay file your using in the proper folder. Game\Theme\Favorites\Genre - List Creation * FatMatch File Renaming for HyperNewbies. Pyramid_Head Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 Yeah, everything seems to be in order. It just isn't showing up in video options.
chillinwater Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Is the romname.lay file in the \mame\artwork\romname\ -folder? If so you may have a corrupt .lay file. Did you make any changes to the original.lay? If so, re-download it. Its completely possible I put up a corrupt file on FTP but I dont know which one your using so I can test it. So... -post your log file -redownload HBII.exe and the settings. (emumovies ftp \upload here\chillinwater) dont copy over your settings if youve made changes. Do copy\paste... Path_to_EMU=\ update your path to mame.exe, include "\" at the end This was added to make HBII universal with all fe's you can leave the path_to_HS for now. -post your log file Game\Theme\Favorites\Genre - List Creation * FatMatch File Renaming for HyperNewbies. chillinwater Posted March 25, 2013 Author Posted March 25, 2013 I re-downloaded everything and now all is well! Not sure what the problem was before though. Thanks! Thats good to hear...glad it wasnt a bug!! ...of sorts Thanks to Roadrunner and krackerman for cranking out some new bezels!! Here is some progress...still work on lays to be done. The next update to HBII is more or less (more) done. actual rom bezels if %romname% are now supported. (unzipped from mr do) and the ones krackerman is cranking out! Finalising tweaks to this 16x10 horizontal lay then I can work on the other (5) You can see in some of the images "under construction"... Those are just place holders and "generic" if actual images dont exist. For those cards and strips, Ill be substituting transparent placeholders so you dont see "under Construction" images. or a user can create their own "generics" and display them. The 1 card is actual. The Marquee is actual, if it didnt exist then a Hyperspin wheel is substituted. The control panels can be batch created with CPWizard. The one you see is a "generic" one I had lying around from somwhere. For the the multiscreen pics, I think only one can be used, I could be wrong. Ill have 2 of the 3 commented out when final to make sure there are no problems. They are just there to show what you can do anyway. You can pick and choose the view you want and commenting out the others by editing the .lay The biggest hold up for new release can be seen in "image9" below... I cant squeeze the game field down so the cards and marquee cover the game... Oh well Im gonna have to get smarter!!! As with Hyperspin and its media (themes, wheels) the resources for HBII will also never be complete...not by me anyway!!! I can rush the new version out and let you guys play with it or I can gather somore recources to have in place so the app is a little more robust out of the gate. Tell me what you think...to release or not to release? Game\Theme\Favorites\Genre - List Creation * FatMatch File Renaming for HyperNewbies.
