Do you plan on adding this to Mess as well? That would be great!!

Thats the plan for future releases but not a priority atm...its coming!

Aside from Mess...

Ive added 7z support which will now work in conjuction with HeadKaze's new bezel creation app.

http://www.gameex.info/forums/topic/12600-release-marquee2bezel-v11/

This app fills in alot of missing bezels using Mr. Dos artwork specifically, real "marquees".

You can also use it to create bezels using Hyperspin's "wheels" to fill in more missing bezels.

Hyper Bezel will fill in the rest and add more "Stuff and Fluff" to those you create!!!

Adding 7z support also adds support for using Headkazes' CPWizard "batch creation feature" to create...

-control.pngs

-game info.pngs

-or combined control\info.pngs

This will allow you to view these images in either..

-mames "video options"

or

-on a second screen (if available)

User configuring of Mame will be needed to add this feature for now wether you use Marquee2Bezel or Hyper Bezel or Hyper Bezel in conjunction with Marquee2Bezel

http://www.mameworld.info/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Cat=&Number=182698&page=0&view=collapsed

http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=118741.0

If you dont have CPWizard...get it and set it up!!!

Get it at least for the batch feature.

Alot of people are having troubles with CPwizard crashing of late but...

Hyper Bezel will display the images without CPWizard running.

So its still a must have IMHO!!!

Hyper Bezel still wont touch Mr. Do's zip files or any zip file in the artwork directory

It could but that is sacred ground Im not willing, energetic or smart enough to touch atm.

Just too many files to sort thru, rename and move.

This means that for you to use any created artwork from "Marquee2Bezel" or "CPWizard"

with Hyper Bezel...I have to ask you to move them to specific folders for them to work in Hyper Bezel.

Nice can't wait for the Mess future! Also these new updates sound sweet! It might give me an excuse to finally use CPwizard lol.
Actually if you just want one bezel for a system in Mess you can just drop the bezel in the right folder and create a lay file for it.

Hyper Bezel is more for multiple random bezels so Im wondering if its really worth the effort.

With that said, I just passed a major hurdle for Mess. :)

So what system(s) would you want to run?

(hopefully a handheld and hopefully I already have that system setup in mess\UME)

How do you want to see it?

If you can crank out or post some other bezels or just templates for that system you'd like to see...

I could then test it out see if its really worth it and if it is...release it quicker and "pre-configured" for that system!

I cant really do much without some art examples

image sizes should be...

-800x600 for (4x3)

-1280x720 for (16x9)

-1280x800 for (16x10)

[edit]

ohhh I just found some stuff....got some ideas...might be worth it after all in the long run.

there just arent many assets out there at the moment to work with.

Systems I emulate in Mess are Master System,Genesis,Snes,Atari 2600 and 7800,Lynx, Game Gear and a few others. I use hlsl for all of these so a bezel will definitely come in handy :) I hope this helps!

Looks like a great program however I cannot get this to work.

I believe I have followed the steps in the first post. I have copied the _Generic_Bezel folder over to C:\Hyperspin\Emulators\Mame\Artwork

This is my settingsII file but please note that the path actually does have the back slashes. This is what it looks like in my txt editor - Path_to_EMU=c:\Hyperspin\

Not sure why it is not showing up below.

Here are some screen grabs when running the test:

post-67927-142870587662_thumb.jpg

Basically the only thing I have seen happen is the "Zaxxon" folder being created but nothing in it in the c:\Hyperspin\Artwork folder but nothing else.

If you need more info just ask and any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Bata

You need to put test to false in the settings II file before it will show in mame while your running hyperspin.

Okay... did that but still nothing. When I run Hyperbezel II nothing happens. A HBII icon flashes up briefly in the system icon tray on the lower right of my PC and then disappears and nothing actually happens. This is strange?!

Edit: I've noticed in the original instructions and your SettingsII.ini that it says:

Path_to_HS=C:\Hyperspin\

but mine says:

Path_to_EMU=C:\Hyperspin\

What's the go with that?.... also....

Does the exe=mame64.exe need the full path of the executable or have I done that right? I believe this is the only thing I changed in the .ini file.

I'm not home right now. So couldn't tell u about the path stuff. But also I'm using I version older then what is out I believe. I'm going to probably uninstall it cause I'm using hyperspin helper and the don't work nice together. When I get home I can walk u through it all the way.

Sorry about the confusion. I meant to post the last two messages on my thread and accidentally posted them here. My deepest apologies.

Info on HyperspinHelper Software: http://hyperspinhelper.wordpress.com. Allows you to enable two additional displays as a Marquee and a controls help screen as well as map UltraStik 360 controls. Works exclusively with Hyperspin.

Sorry...real life and all that!!!

This is my fault...

I didn't update the instructions on the first post but the path...

With a recent update to make HBII work with all FE's the path is now Path to the emu . I.e. c:\hyperspin\emulators\mame\

Or wherever your mame is...Sorry about that!!!

The change occurred post#122 http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?23879-New-App!-Hyper-Bezel-II&p=232054&viewfull=1#post232054

"Your" Path_to_ EMU =c:\Hyperspin\

is wrong!!

I'll be catching up with real life stuff this week so I can update first post and get back to the next update.....till then!!!!

@orbital,lol np!!!

Oh and turn test off and post the log.txt in the Hyper Bezel II folder :)

Thanks! Here is my Log after changing it to C:\Hyperspin\Emulators\Mame\

The test now creates a Zaxxon folder in Mame\Artwork but when I disable test andrun it, it doesn't create any for my roms. How does it actually look for the roms to filter through?

My roms are stored like this C:\Hyperspin\Emulators\Mame\Roms

Did you copy the folder \_generic_bezels\

from \Hyper Bezel II\_generic_bezels\

to your

mame\artwork\_generic_bezels\

folder?

It doesn't look for your roms per say, it looks for existing (zipped artwork...romname.zip) in the artwork folder.

If it finds some it closes and does nothing.

It does read which roms are valid as vertical or horizontal in "horizontal_roms.ini" and "vertical_roms.ini".

It only creates (1) bezel at a time and only when you run it.

Also, make sure your not using "kill" in your test...

it deletes the folder almost immediately so you wouldnt even see it.

Lastly...

I notice in your settings II.ini you have (2) vertical_index1 sections...remove one of those.

The "log.txt" should show a romname in there somewhere.

When did you last download from ftp?

Yep. I just received my Tiny Arcade machine few days ago. I spent the last three, four... well five days working on the software to update and clean up everything and this default empty black bezel on all my schmups was the last thing that was driving me nuts.

I have so many people to thank in this forum and you are one of them :)

I am having an issue with the app.

I believe I have it setup properly. When I run the the test script it does create the zaxxon folder and there are 2 files in there.

When I start Mortal Kombat II it does not change the bezel at all. I tried MK3 and UMK3 and Killer Instinct. None of them changed.

What am I doing wrong?

Thx

@BladeXT

he fact that you have zaxxon (a vertical game) working (2 files in zaxxon folder, xml and png) suggests that the paths in the settings are setup correctly.

Thats the biggest hurdle. :D

Horizontal should work out of the box too.

(maybe not the best display for you since default is for 4x3 but I dont no what your running on)

Since you dont get anything for the other games (I believe all horizontal)

makes me think you might have mis-edited or have some mis-edited settings

or some original files dont exist in the folders Hyper Bezel needs.

-When did you last download?

-Does it create a folder for those (horizontal) games

Also Make sure...

-these match below (the actual index # you want to display)

-you have the horizontal assets (lay file and .png files in the list) in the

\mame\artwork\_generic_bezel\horizontal\ folder

(in this example..using the "horizontal43mrdo.lay" and default artwork list)

listed like below with .png extensions

there are 7 files to randomize

Files_In_List=7

if you have

Files_In_List=10

using the example below,

there is a possiblilty nothing will happen three times out of 10 with the .png file...though the lay should copy into the game folder.

[General]

disable_horizontal=false ;(lol sounds kinda backwards but this enables horizontal bezels)

Horizontal_Index_Number=1

[Horizontal_Index_1]

Horizontal_Lay_File=horizontal43mrdo.lay

#Horizontal_Lay_File=HBX-4x3h.lay

Files_In_List=7

1=horizontal1.png

2=horizontal2.png

3=horizontal3.png

4=horizontal4.png

5=horizontal5.png

6=horizontal6.png

7=Horizontal(4x3).png

8=

9=

10=

If you have your own set of files make sure the "lay" name in the settings matches the "lay" name in the folder.

With extension.

Same is true for all bezel artwork.

Posted

The folder does not get created for the other games.

I will play with it again and see what happens
