Secret80'sMan Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 I would hope some of our talented artists might jump at the chance to contribute to the bezel repository and hopefully content would grow quickly. Thanks again for such a cool app.
sportsfan949 Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Thank everyone for all your work, This is really great and opens up alot of potential. Latest test results: Latest test results: When selecting emu and roms in HQ you have the option of selecting C:\ .\ ..\ for absolute or relative paths. When setup correctly to run mame in HS c:\ and ..\ work correctly .\ does not work I adjusted my path from .\mame\ to ..\arcade\mame\ in HQ to and all is good. Great job, Thank you
chillinwater Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Thanks guys... Another new version up on FTP Hyper Bezel II.exe Settings II.ini test settings.bat Grab them all!!! new features are... -ability to delete the romname bezel folder on exit of the emu Run, J:\HyperSpin\Hyper Bezel II\Hyper Bezel II.exe "%systemname%" "%romname%" "kill" if placed in the module just after winwait close or before winactivate, HyperSpin worked on my end but Be careful, make backups, and test it first with the .bat -the lay file that you use, is now configurable in the settings. your not stuck with just "vertical.lay" it can be named vertical169.lay or anything you want. makes it easier to keep track of what your doing when testing things out. this ability to select lay files, increases the functionality of the indexes i.e. say you have a list of 4:3 bezels in index (1) and vertical.lay as your lay file. and you have a list of 16x9 bezels in index (2) and vertical169.lay as your lay file. just point to the list in the settings under the general tab and pick your list Vertical_Index_Number=1 ;or 2 whichever!! Lastly, There are new templates on ftp... for widescreen (hor and vert) with some lay files to play with. and a new 4:3 horizontal bezel template with a lay, havent played with this yet. Great job, Thank you Very happy and lets say very very relieved that you and the others got it going. Its very disappointing when a new app comes out DOA!!! So far its been rough start to say the least!!! But I think its there now, aslong as I dont break it when adding new features. Im aware of the relative pathing issue but not quite sure how to fix it yet. Perhaps Rain or Djvj can chime in! As of now the source is not open so they havent been able to see it (Rain has...Thank you!!) which actually would be more beneficial. I will release it on ftp eventually (just more embarrased about my coding skills than anything else) But then i would be worried about multiple versions coming out and you or I trying to keep up with versions, settings. All that would just be a nightmare!! Game\Theme\Favorites\Genre - List Creation * FatMatch File Renaming for HyperNewbies. chillinwater Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 The widescreen stuff looks great! Coool! On ftp there are "new as of today" templates for "widescreen stuff". They have dots on them so you can see the bezel while testing, otherwise you might not see them and know if its working. If those bezels display well on your system, Those dots can easily be removed or pasted over with your custom artwork. Dont forget to download the new version. new features are posted on first page and a couple posts up!! Really hope the HyperArtists will get ahold of this cuz my artsy skills suck!!! Pyramid_Head Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 I hope they contribute too man! Oh, I didn't notice the dots LOL Thanks for the heads up. And I'll check it out.

stovies Posted March 2, 2013 Posted March 2, 2013 chillwater Latest version works sweet straight out the box Thanks for working hard at the code. Absolutely appreciated!
chillinwater Posted March 2, 2013 Author Posted March 2, 2013 @ stovies, Great Stoveis! sorry about the slow start! When setup correctly to run mame in HSc:\ and ..\ work correctly .\ does not work I adjusted my path from .\mame\ to ..\arcade\mame\ in HQ to and all is good. Great job, Thank you @ djvj, Ive never really dealt with relative path issues before so if thats how its supposed to be then there is no issue. If your supposed to also read ".\" then there is an issue. @anyone who cares, Next update will address the lame msgbox testing sequence. (That was about the only code I had fom the original Hyper Bezel before the HD's went bye bye.) Ill get rid of that (msgbox) and have it create a log file so its easier to test and easier to post problems via "log" "msgbox" will remain as an option via test=true in settings Game\Theme\Favorites\Genre - List Creation * FatMatch File Renaming for HyperNewbies. DamnedRegistrations Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 So are horizontal bezels not really implemented yet? I couldn't get them to show no matter what I set. Even tried pointing the settings ini to the widescreen lay file along with the respective pngs but still nothing showed up in most games. Can only get bezels to work for vertical games like 1942 for example. When I ran the test, it spit out a ton of errors despite it still working for vertical games and I had set it up exactly as instructed without changing much at all. I noticed one of the errors showed that it had no path set for horizontal roms.ini yet I don't see that setting in the main ini.
chillinwater Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 Yes they are functioning in the program. Graphically they need playtesting, with the supplied bezels and .lay files. You should be able to see them though. re-download the exe and try that. and enable Horizontal bezels in settings II.ini disable_horizontal=false If you still have problems paste\post the log.txt (new addition) Game\Theme\Favorites\Genre - List Creation * FatMatch File Renaming for HyperNewbies. albert Posted March 3, 2013 Posted March 3, 2013 The game Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat 2 are staying with Vertical Bezel Thanks for apps.
chillinwater Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 Thanks, Those lists are from Mame32FX, when you select vertical on the left folder pane or horizontal on the same pane. If they are in error (for hor or vert), you can move those games from the vertical roms list to the horizontal roms list which are inside the Hyper Bezel II folder. [edit] ive confirmed the roms are in the proper list so Im checking to see why vertical bezels are popping up Game\Theme\Favorites\Genre - List Creation * FatMatch File Renaming for HyperNewbies. chillinwater Posted March 3, 2013 Author Posted March 3, 2013 So while Hyper Bezel II is getting the bugs worked out (beta), hopefully not too many more, If you are still having issues with some things, always try to start out by downloading the newest build on ftp. Sorry if this is stating the obvious! Some issues may have already been addressed. If they have not, absolutely report them here and i'll get right on it. I do know that while vertical bezels are working very well (aside from personal tastes) Horizontal bezels that I provided need some tweaking i.e. the bezels cover some of the playing field. Havent had time to tweak them but that can be done by anyone. Im not so good or quick with art or script for that matter. I dont have a widscreen setup to test and I cant test every rom so Im really countin on you guys to clue me in or put new lay files or bezels on ftp. Just put anything you do in a user contribution folder (with your folder name inside for credits and thanks) This is so you or I dont accidentally overwrite anything someone else has already done. As far as naming, the names for anything dont realy matter (unless romname) but info in the name (16x9wsh) or (16x9wsv) would help distinguish things easier name-(16x9wsh)=16x9 widesreen horizontal name-(4x3v)=ahh you know! DamnedRegistrations Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Okay I have the horizontal bezels working now. Main problem seems to be the game window itself doesn't adjust like it does for the Mr. Do! artwork, for example. Just stays at 4:3 and the regular horizontal bezels aren't sized for that so the game window overlaps mostly all of them regardless of lay file used. So for now I'm just using the widescreen generic Mame bezel along with the 16:10 lay file since my monitor is that ratio. It just basically fills up the black sidebar spaces with the Mame logos. I'd say that's better than blank, black bars. Going to try fiddling with this bezel in Photoshop to make some variations at least.

I knew the horizontals were'nt not there yet, (perfected) but there are some resized ones on ftp (same names) so download again. They still wont be perfect and they are still just works in progress. Thats what Im really counting on from, you guys "fiddling around". Please post your results when you get it suitable to your liking. Mr do bezels and lays also support many different elements and coordinates to where the images display. i.e. bezel, control panel, marquee among other things. You can see these elements while in mame, check it out with "ctomaday", i think thats the romname, it has many elements. Not all games do. In Mame -(tab\video options) All the views in the top section are elements. In the bottom section, you can turn them on or off. The lays I have on ftp only support one element atm. You can edit them to add more elements (not supported in this version of HBII) or edit the layout to display the art to a more suitable effect on your screen. I can only test 4:3 so Im counting on user input for this. Without user input, Hyper Bezel II wont be as useful. With it, it could grow into somthing very special. I think its pretty cool now, but I want More!!! I do have a new version of Hyper Bezel II that supports other elements, marquee, control panel (user created) and may add more. I wont be releasing this version until I see more standardisation (user input) with .lays using Hyper Bezel II in its current form. Once the .lays and bezels are standardised, which includes (16x9wsv, 16x9wsh, 16x10wsh, 16x10wsv, 4:3h, 4:3v) and associated generic bezel templates I WILL release it!!! With user input, I know people are interested, which keeps me interested in adding new features. Game\Theme\Favorites\Genre - List Creation * FatMatch File Renaming for HyperNewbies. chillinwater Posted March 4, 2013 Author Posted March 4, 2013 Food for thought... When thinking of Mr Do! artwork files, they are no different than themes for games in HS. Each have artwork elements inside of them. Each have a file to tell Mame or HS how to display them. In HS this file is the theme.xml In Mame its the .lay file. The .lay file is actually an .xml just like the theme.xml I dont have a full understanding of the .lay files yet, mostly to do with artwork placement. But my knowlege is growing slowly, (not leaps and bounds). If only there were somthing like HyperTheme, only for .lay files. Actually there kinda is! Simple Bezel Layout Generator v2.3 But "HyperLay" would be awesome!!! Maybe a new app coming!?! But I would have to know if people are interested and I have to get a grip first [edit] testing a new idea, STAY TUNED!!!
