i started this in june and ive done 241 so far... will zip up and upload when done. SMS needs love so figure am may as well be the dumb ass to volunteer lol Goal is to do the english set including homebrew games in higher quality and not the old crap thats around. Not going for 100% original as sometimes theyre just but ugly, but will not choose to use the arcade or genesis version cus they are cooler, i do want to stay as close as possible, but will take liberties where i see fit. NO FONTS ARE USED... well i think 3 so far i have used actual fonts... they just to upscale good enough for me and half the time theyre not accurate enough for me. will also do title screen ones if theyre better. 99% of these are complete tear down and rebuild, some i can upscale and cut/recut from logos ive found online, but when upscaling then you have to recut them as the stroke in them its all messed up to begin with... so almost always i just recreate them. anyways as i get closer i may ask for a complete list as i dont think i have one... i have a 350+ list so am not sure. anyways i post them as i go on planetgeekdom discord and launchbox but will stop by when done or near done to share here.5 points

That's pretty much it. Sometimes you'll get lucky and find a transparent png but that's rare. AI image enlarging works a lot of the time for lower resolution images, but not always. And background removal tools have improved over the years, but I still find that learning the pen tool is best to achieve clean edges.3 points

Hey everyone! The past month has been packed with updates across HyperTheme, HyperSpin, and HyperHQ. We’ve knocked out dozens of bug fixes, introduced tons of new SFX, added controller support, and made the whole system feel a lot more polished. Let’s dive into what’s new! HyperTheme + ThemeBuilder We’ve continued building out the visual side of HyperTheme with new effects, better tooling, and publishing improvements that help your work shine across the web and the forums. New SFX Effects We’ve added a big batch of new shaders to help you get creative with your themes. These are now available directly in the ThemeBuilder: To Grayscale To Color Bloom Gauss Color Adjustment To ASCII Art Outline Bevel Color Replace Cross Hatch Big thanks again to @yaron and the shader team for making these possible. Improvements to Builder & Publishing Animations can now be added to groups (Layer Grouping is now live!) Already helped a few folks fix things instantly. HyperSpin HyperSpin now fully supports all new SFX, including everything added in the latest ThemeBuilder release. Combined with improved controller support and bug fixes, this is the smoothest HyperSpin experience yet. New Controller Features New controller interface (rebinding required) Support for multiple controller types including DirectInput "Clear All Mappings" button added Better support for custom emulators Speed and stability improvements MAME Enhancements Support for more than one MAME install MAME Update Wizard (update without deleting files) MAME Import Wizard (change settings without full reset) Ability to duplicate MAME configs ROM & Emulator Additions Full support for file type filtering by extension You can now define exactly which file types are recognized per system While HyperTheme got the spotlight this month, we're now shifting gears toward controller testing and finishing up the next round of builds. If you have a controller setup handy, we’d love for you to help us test. More soon! — fr0stbyt3 Big thanks to @Roadrunner and @rondar for the epic themes that they've been working on. Please check out the new themes thread for more updates! bandicam_2025-06-30_13-58-16-030.mp4 Blades_of_Steel.mp4 bandicam_2025-06-25_14-57-47-626.mp4 bandicam_2025-06-29_12-04-37-968.mp42 points

Yes (kind of). You can upload svg files into HyperTheme but scaling needs to be fixed at the moment. Currently the image becomes pixelated when enlarged but this has been reported as a bug and will be fixed. You can upload a bunch of file types (tiff, bmp, jpg, etc), but as dragon57 said, png is usually the best for HT.1 point

Believe it or not, the online photopea editor seems to have full PSD support: https://www.photopea.com A number of other Photoshop alternatives exist. I personally prefer Affinity Photo, and it imports PSD. As to what filetypes, you really can't go wrong with PNG, which has transparency support, which is needed for lots of effects. I'm sure others will respond with their favorites and add more to this. Best of luck.1 point

What a huge difference! Those look awesome and much more professional imo. I agree the black and yellow lower portions look best. I guess the final decision would depend on your marquee and future bezel. Which of those options would complement the other parts the most?1 point

Hello Everyone, Welcome to HyperSpin 2.0. We know that everyone is excited about the future of HyperSpin and excited to get going. The team is excited for everyone to finally see the work that has really been going on behind the scenes. Please keep in mind that everything you see is still very early beta release. Features are not final and may change at any time. Stay tuned... This is just getting started! First!1 point

If only we could have the support of xml databases (severals years of works to tune them), it would be a great advanced feature1 point

Basically the systems are missing the hash/database and CRC information for their roms. So they don't have any idea what art should be pushed out to match with the roms you have. It's a process that takes a lot of time to get working completely. We have been working on adding data but unfortunately it is a long process for each system but once it is done you will see that the reason why it is being done in this complicated process is so it will be a seamless process for everyone to add systems that will be perfect matches with zero efforts to the enduser to worry about. We appreciate your patience as we make advances to a polished product in the future alpha release1 point

So I currently have a Arcade cabinet with RPi4 running batocera but have always wanted to upgrade to a PC. Hyperspin has always been the frontend I have wanted to upgrade to and I started building a simple desktop with 1.5.1 knowing that it has been a long time since the last update and relied on Adobe flash. My requirements have always been pretty mainstream. Mame,daphne.. I decided to stop building 1.5.1 and take the plunge to 2.0 knowing that it was the future and I am not pressed to switchout the RPi4 today. When you say wizards you were not even fooling around. The setup of Mame with all of the support media was flawless. I dont have a ton of ROMs but honestly I don't need 110,000+ games. I will continue to add systems but right now this thing is the bomb and so much easier for an intermediate like me. Keep up the great work1 point
