  1. Very Important !! I forgot to write in the instructions that you MUST add the following lines in the Retroarch module for Rocketlauncher where it's needed: MSystem := "Apple I" mTypeVar:= Apple I|mame_libretro|apple1
  2. Version 1.0.0

    76 downloads

My first attempt at posting a full setup. The result is not up to the usual high standard here but I don't think that this system has ever been proposed, so I post it anyway. The Apple I was short lived, sold less than 200 units handmade by Steve Wozniak and Steve Jobs but it has a great historical significance. The process is the same as for the Floatingyeti releases except that I have zipped the files in their own directories. The emulator is Retroarch/mame_libretro. For the people allergic to Retroarch, you can use Mame and type the command lines for each game manually (or create a command file). The instructions to launch the games are on the hash file (good luck to you...). So you must go through the following steps: 1. Extract the media.zip in Hyperspin/Media 2. Extract the Main Menu.zip in Hyperspin/Media/Main Menu 3. Extract the games where you want and point Rocketlauncher to this directory 4. Extract the Retroarch.zip to your Retroarch folder 5. Extract the Databases.zip to your......Databases folder ! 6. Choose Retroarch as the emulator in Rocketlauncher and mame_libretro as the core in the module global settings. 7. you must add the following lines in the Retroarch module for Rocketlauncher where it's needed: MSystem := "Apple I" mTypeVar:= Apple I|mame_libretro|apple1 You should be ready to go. I have included the savestates in the retroarch folder so you don't have to go through the tedious process of typing all the command lines. If the save states doesn't start automatically in retroarch you have to put the corresponding option on in the core options, or hit F4 (or your hotkey+F4) each time you start a game. It is my first release so please be tolerant. I will update the files if I have made any mistakes. There was little to none artworks available for this system and the games have no graphics so it was tough to create the media. I know I have done a pretty subpar job and I hope someone will pick up the job and improve the media dramatically. I didn't made a Bezel as I am using a Megabezel in Retroarch. It's an old wooden TV that fits well with the homemade Apple I built by Steve Wozniak. Credits goes to Floatinyeti for his help and inspiration, to Duimon who created the nice megabezel I am using for the videos and for whoever created the original database and main theme I have borrowed.
  3. Playing that completeley unknown Japanese handheld that only run a few GO games on my arcade cabinet ? I love that !!!
  4. Good job again floatingyeti ! An old computer from my country. Back then it was supposed to be an answer to the spectrum and the c64 but it was just crap (like many other french computers of the time...) I had a wheel for this system already, using the emulator DCEXEL, but the module was not working properly at all for me. I had to load the game in the emu first then write the command line : LOAD"1" and then sometimes RUN to launch it. Thanks for your work and dedication.
  5. wow, much older than the PDP-1 itself ! Would it be able to decode the German enigma machine ?
  6. It seems that your recent complete setups have been downloaded around 20 to 25 times. I would have guessed more but that is something already and it will grow with time. I can see that there are new members joining everyday. Maybe people who have discovered Hyperspin recently and will first install the most obvious systems and, later on, your "obscure" ones (You know that adding new wheels can get infectious after a while). I will probably be able to post my complete setup of the Apple I next week. I will see if a system so archaic and without any graphics can raise some interest. The manufacturer's name might help...or not.
  7. I think that your work is incredibly useful and educative. There are Mame devs spending hours of their time trying to emulate such unknown computers and nobody but a few knows about it !
  8. How to you find those systems ? Just by going through the Mame Software list ?
  9. I didn't knew it 5 minutes ago, but now I definitely need that system !!
  10. I think I have everything in place now. I just need time to finish the savestates and the media. For the videos I had hoped I could use the mame artworks snapshots but it doesn't seem they exist for this system so I will probably create them myself. I have some artworks and pictures to create the main menu and default themes. I have the right database but I don't remember who created it. Probably from the retroFE site. You are right about the fact that I am completely off topic in this thread and you are welcome to create a new one and copy our conversations there. It might become of interest for other people in the future, who knows...
  11. You can read again my previous post. I send it by mistake as it was not finished. I have found a solution in fact.
  12. Thanks for your answer ! It was effectively related to the way I was creating the savestate or so it seems. I had temporarily disabled the autoload/autosave feature just to create the savestates at a precise time, when the game starts (it is often a text scrolling vertically so you must be quick to catch the first lines). And when I turned back the option it would not autoload the savestate. The solution was to create a new one, not manually this time, but with the auto option. With this savestate the game launch as I intended it. I am sorry if my explanation is very confused but as you said floatinyeti, the savestate feature in Retroarch can act weird sometimes. In the end it is still a very useful feature and the Apple I system is a living proof that your process works wonders for old, command lines driven computers. I really starts to understand all the growing pains you have to endured to create all those exotic systems complete setup...
  13. That's awesome Mackano !
  14. OK so I finally made it work ! I am not sure what I was doing wrong but it was probably because I was not rewinding the cassette after loading the basic !! Aaaah the good old times... Now I have to create the remaining savestates. And by the way I have a small problem with them as I need to load them (with my hotkey + F4) each time in retroarch even with the autoload option on both in the core and general retroarch options. Floatingyeti, maybe I can send you the roms, databese and savestates so you try on your side ?
  15. You says you will slow down but you you still come up with a new system ! I don't have much free time available but I am still working on the Apple I. I stupidely lost time looking around for videos on how to start the games while it was all explained properly in the mame hash file ! I should take a deeper look at those in the future. Now I have all the instructions neede but I still haven't found the way to launch the games that required to load the basic first. Probably dumb mistakes due to my lack of skill but I will insist anyway. If I release a complete setup I will probaly use mame snapshots instead of videos (as there is nothing going on in the screen anyway !) and generic wheels as I don't know about any artworks existing. Hopefully other people will be able to pick up on my work and release better media.
  16. For the Macintosh, what would be the other emulation options ? and do we have rocketlauncher modules for them ? For the apple I, I have the correct games folder now and save states for 8 "games" already. I am currently struggling mightily to make the games which required to load the basic first to work. I have seen instructions for star trek for example. It says to launch the basic first then the game, I have the command line instructions but I can't make it work yet. I certainly understand what you mean when you say that you are suffering to make us enjoy your setups. I have inflicted that to myself for so many years but still continue because it is such a thrill in the end when you find solutions and manage to run new emulators or games...
  17. I wanted to do this system for so long ... you are on fire !!! At some time time, do you intend to look at the Apple Macintosh brand ? I never saw a complete setup available publicly. I don't know about the software list games available though.
  18. You did it !! Thank you so much !!
  19. So colourful ! so Hyperspin ! You are at the top of your art hoscarconh
  20. Great job Mackano ! So nice to witness the collaborative atmosphere in this forum these days. We just need the individual bezels now and this system setup will be about completed.
  21. Very nice ! Thank you Hoscarconh
  22. I can try to but it might take some time as I am searching the net how to start more games (I need to find the proper command lines). I also need to make new videos and a default and main menu themes. Concerning the wheels there are no artworks as far as I know cause the games are text only and very archaic, so if you know of a relevant font to create generic ones please tell me. I will not make a bezel as I am using myself the megabezel of an old wooden tv from Duimon that fits perfectly. And yes Floatingyeti, I wouldn' t have been able to launch the games without all your advices, so thanks again for that ! At first it wouldn't work but then I remember that you need to place the relevant files for Mame in the roms folder along with the games. You also need to activate the hotkey option in retroarch in order to be able to use all the input keys (I don't know if there are other solutions). It was also necessary to disable the 7z option in rocketlauncher and let retroarch do the decompression. So quite some trials and errors but I learn a lot from them.
  23. I have successfully launch it through mame_libretro. I am in the process of creating the savestates for the 8 games I have been able to launch. So I will be able to senf you the hash, cfg, roms and savestates if you need them. Back when I made myself this setup I managed to launch games only because I found youtube videos of guys launching their games manually. The commands are different for each game and it is definitely not in basic !
  24. Mackano, Thanks a lot for your works, which are very nice complements or alternatives to FloatingYeti setups.
