If anyone wants it, just post and ask. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Since this is one of the all-time greatest arcade classic games I'm thinking of giving it its own wheel. It would be the only title specific wheel in my setup and pull from different systems. I'm looking to see what GnG games and games like or inspired by GnG are out there to be included. I started talking about it a bit in this thread. http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/14248-ultimate-ghosts-n-goblins/ So Far I have: Ghosts'n Goblins (MAME) Ghouls'n Ghosts (MAME) Ultimate Ghost'n Goblins (ppsspp , but running in my Modern Classics/PC Games wheel) Ghosts'n Demons (Inspired by. Bor/PC) Maldita Castilla (Inspired by. PC) Planning on Adding: -Super Ghouls'n Ghosts (Snes) -Demon's Crest (Snes) for these SNES games should I use a standalone emulator or just use RetroArch (even though it smells bad). I'm guessing retro just because of the shaders. -Maximo: Ghosts to Glory -Maximo: Army of Zin I really want to add these, but have no idea if they can be played on a cab with digital controls and no analog. Do any PS2 emulators work without a control pad? I can't really think of a good reason to add any of the older (NES) or crappier (Gameboy, C64 etc...) games. But if some are different or you think they're good enough I'd consider it. Some others inspired by GnG I've run across: -Battle Princess Madelyn (not finished/PC) http://www.causalbitgames.com/2015/11/its-official-battle-princess-madelyn-is-a-go-happy-birthday-maddi/ -Eternium. GnG tribute where you play as Arthur as an old man (PC) http://www.indieretronews.com/2015/04/eternum-ghosts-n-goblins-inspired.html -Ghosts'n DJ's (Not sure if it's even available/PC) http://www.siliconera.com/2014/10/25/ghosts-n-djs-music-industry-themed-ghosts-n-goblins/ -Ghosts'n Goblins: Gold Knights 1 & 2. Looks like they only released these for iOS so I'm guessing they aren't playable any oter way. Apparantly they aren't very good though. -Ghosts'n Goblins online Apparantly they made this, but it looks like it was cancelled, but possibly released in Korea? Anyone have any info on this? http://www.gamespot.com/articles/ghosts-n-goblins-online-confirmed-for-korea/1100-6283790/ What other games does anyone know about that would qualify or that you think should be included? Any other actual MAME/Arcade games that were rip-offs or clones that should be in?
Metalzoic
Ran across a couple others: Arcane Ghosts Looks like just another iOS game though Arthur no Astoroth Looks like a puzzle game that was only released in Japan on PSX and Saturn. Looks like it should definitely be in though.
Metalzoic
No one? Looks like there was a wonderswan version as well which is actually 4th in the series before UGnG. Seems to only be available in black and white though, unless anyone knows if a they made a Wonderswan color version? Here's a theme I just made for Super Ghouls'n Ghosts for when I eventually add the game: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11214-super-ghoulsn-ghosts-snes-169-metalzoic-20160130/ Here's the one I made for Ultimate Ghosts'n Goblins: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11202-ultimate-ghosts-n-goblins-psp-169-metalzoic-20160129/ And the one I made for Ghosts'n Demons pretty simple with elements scavenged from other themes: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11101-ghosts-n-demons-pc-games-169-metalzoic-20161001/ Screenshots are from my cab. trebukenz
The Commodore 64 version was quite good, though I imagine the NES version would be similar enough. You seem to have it covered. I cannot think of anything to add - just want you to know someone is reading this and thinks it's a great idea. I have been dabbling with some compilation wheels (not of my making) and think they are great.
Metalzoic
OK, just put together a new theme for the 1st game in the series Ghosts'n Goblins. Something quite a bit different from the others available: The game is hellishly difficult so I made the theme hellish too! http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11216-ghostsn-goblins-mame-169-metalzoic-20160130/

I'm sure it was, but the NES, C64 and other versions were still a step down from the arcade version and weren't really different I believe. I think there was a remake of Super GnG that was released on PSX and Saturn. Anyone know if those versions are better than the original SNES version? SIMPLYAUSTIN
Wonderswam version is great, although it's limited in colours obviously. PSP has a nice version. NES is yhemost popular but in my eyes arcade original is best. There is also a half made proto of another PC version out there on the tinterwebs too

Rocketeer
Check out this vid which compares a whole bunch of GnG versions on various platforms. Good comparison to see what to include.

KlopjerO
are you planning on adding Gargoyles quest I & II ?
EvilDindon
Yep, greatest saga in game history. The genesis version and supergrafx versions of ghouls'n ghosts could be added too, they are very good and different than the arcade original title. And yeah, super ghouls'n ghosts and demon's crest on SNES are a must have. I suggest you add the japanese version of ghosts'n goblins which is a bit different ( the shield weapon is a cross) I suggest you call this wheel "Makaïmura Saga" or "Makaïmura Saloon"

There is also a half made proto of another PC version out there on the tinterwebs too If the Wonderswan version is that good (I believe Ghosts'n Demons is based off that version actually) I'll add it. And yes the arcade version of GnG was way better than the NES version. No reason to add the NES version. PSP is UGnG #5 in the main series and is freaking awesome. I'm normally against having any console games or emulators on a cab, but I'll be adding quite a few emu's just for single games. I added PPSSPP just for UGnG and don't plan on adding any other PSP games. SNES I'll be adding just for SGnG and Demon's Crest etc... I've looked all over for the cancelled Ghosts'n Goblins Online and have had no luck... if you have any leads please let me know. Or if there's any hint of the 2 iOS games ever being playable on a PC. Metalzoic
are you planning on adding Gargoyles quest I & II ? Gargoyles 1 was only on Gameboy right? I really don't want to add B&W Gameboy games to an arcade cabinet, just to far down the totem pole I think. If they did a Gameboy color or Advanced version of it then maybe... but probably not. Even the GBA version of Ghouls'n Ghosts wasn't that great. It did have remixed levels though so maybe that should be in too? Do you think Gargoyles Quest 1 good enough that I should add it in anyway? Gargoyles Quest 2 was on NES and same thing. Not sure I want to add such a low fidelity, non-arcade system for it. I probably will anyway though. Should all 3 of those be in? You tell me. Was good, but not as good as the arcade. I don't remember it adding anything new. If it did I'd probably want to add it. I don't even know what a Supergrafx is, Ha! I'll look into that one so long as it's actually different or better than an Arcade original version. Super Ghouls'n Ghosts has to be on as it's the official 3rd game in the series and the first game that didn't debut in arcades. Demon's Crest I've never played more than a few minutes amazingly enough. Good names, but I'm going to call it Ghouls'n Ghosts'n Goblins or Ghouls'n Ghosts'n Goblins'n Demons since those are kind of a play on all the actual game titles combined. Hopefully JamesBaker will make me a custom Cinematic theme for the Main Menu once I come up with the art & logo I want to use.

Well gargoyles quest 1 is black and white..but in its defense it is a Very good game.. demons crest is the third chapter in that saga.. can't say I liked GQ II much though.. I named that one for the sake of completeness. Maybe you could run GQ through the supergameboy if color is an issue?Sent from my SM-A700FD using Tapatalk
Metalzoic
Didn't even know it was possible to emulate a Gboy game through the Super Gameboy... funny. Maybe I will add them just for the sake of completeness... maybe.

Metalzoic
OK. I got the Maximo games setup yesterday. Now I'm ready for the others. What is the best emu to run SNES Nes Super Gameboy Wonderswan For the Nintendo stuff I just ran across Higan which looks like it does them all and hopefully would keep me from having to mess with to many emulators. I also see Bsnes, but I'm not sure if it's good for anything other than snes. Wonderswan... no idea.
JoyStickKilla
Lots of threads already on "best" emu for each. Pretty sure another started yesterday. Mednafen would cover all but super Gameboy. RA all of them. Mame should be all of them
Metalzoic
Yeah, I read through several threads on best emu's, but all had different info and weren't of much use. (except the one posted yesterday). MAME can run those? Or did you mean the MESS part of MAME? If MAME then awesome! If MESS then Blech... I hate Retro so I'm hoping to avoid it if possible. People seem to say Bsnes or Zsnes a bunch, but I'm not sure what they can run. I really don't want to have to setup 5 different emulators for just 5 different games if I don't have to. It was annoying enough having to set up PCSX2 just for 2 games yesterday. Higan mentions them all, but I'm not seeing any info on it.
JoyStickKilla
Yes the mess part of mame supports those. Bsnes and zsnes are only for snes. I wouldn't bother with zsnes. Bsnes is now higan. But yeah mame and RA would be your only all in one's. Since you are doing arcade I would just maybe stick with mame since you already have it and give that a shot. Metalzoic
OK, so here's the themes I created (or altered) for the first 16 games + Main Menu in my dedicated Ghosts'n Goblins wheel. I really tried to go with a different look and style for each one.Since it is really jut one big series of games, I decided to put them in the wheel in chronological order, the same order they are in below. My Main Menu theme for my dedicated Ghosts'n Goblins wheel.I decided to call it "Ghouls'n Ghosts'n Goblins'n Gargoyles". The system itself is named GnGnGnG in RocketLauncher/HyperSpin.The main theme is actually JamesBakers Hyperspin Cinematic FMV theme, then I created and added the "'n Goblins" and "'n Gargoyles" to it. Goblins blurs in, Gargoyles strobes in. The info convention I used for the games was: Year released, Manufacturer/Developer - System it was for Game name (Version) The default theme for Ghosts'n Goblins. I just converted it to widescreen and re-arranged it a bit. This is the World Set 2 rom, which is actually the easiest of all 7 arcade versions. I didn't include any bootlegs or clones.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11342-ghostsn-goblins-mame-169-metalzoic/ I just added the Makaimura logo to this one which is it's name in Japan. It means Demon World Village. I chose the Japan version C rom because it is standard difficulty (which still means hard as shit), and I was going for a hard, harder, hardest spread for the versions.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11343-makaimura-ghostsn-goblins-mame-169-metalzoic/ My original Ghosts'n Goblins theme posted earlier. Tightened up some of the timing and updated it: This once is running World Set 3 which is the hardest official version of the game (doesn't show in the info because this screenshot is pre GnGnGnG wheel). So with these 3 versions I get hard, harder & hardest. I'm currently not running an NES version of the game since it didn't really add anything and wasn't as good as the arcade versions. However I might add it just for the hell of it. Daimakaimura, the Japan version of Ghouls'n Ghosts which is the 2nd game in the main series. This is my original theme showing the first boss.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11344-daimakaimura-ghoulsn-ghosts-mame-169-metalzoic/ For the US version I converted an existing theme for Ghouls'n Ghosts, but had to Potoshop in quite a bit of new art: The USA version is a bit more difficult than the Japan version, so again I tried to chose the 2 best versions to reflect the series. I haven't added in the genesis version for the same reasons as the NES version earlier, but I probably will for the hell of it.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11345-ghoulsn-ghosts-mame-169-metalzoic/ My original theme for Gargoyles Quest, the first GnG spin-off series with Firebrand (or Red Arremer) as the protagonist. I'm running it through MESS using the Game Boy Color so it isn't black & white. The background is the map art from the instruction book. Firebrand flies left to right, right to left etc...http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11346-gargoyles-quest-game-boy-169-metalzoic/ My original Super Ghouls'n Ghosts theme I posted before. Now I can use it! I updated it and sped up some of the timing. Zombies head gets cut off and spins sooner, video also fades in much faster. Officially the 3rd game in the series and the first that wasn't an actual arcade game.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11214-super-ghoulsn-ghosts-snes-169-metalzoic-20160130/ My original theme for Gargoyles Quest II for the NES, 2nd in the spin-off series. I'm just sticking to the US versions for the console games as there didn't seem to be anything of importance different in the Japan/Euro versions.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11347-gargoyles-quest-ii-nes-169-metalzoic/ My original theme for Demon's Crest for SNES, 3rd in the Gargoyle's Quest series. Awesome effing game. The mostly white helps break up the color on the wheel a bit.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11348-demons-crest-snes-169-metalzoic/ My original theme for the Wonderswan version of Ghosts'n Goblins which is actually the official 4th game in the series. Never came to the US and was never re-released for any other system. Seems crazy to me that one of the Main series entries was left to die on such a niche system and never made it anywhere else. This title actually includes material from all 3 of the first games in the main series.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11349-makaimura-ghostsn-goblins-wonderswan-169-metalzoic/ My original theme for the first game in the spin-off series, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory for PS2. Like the rest of the series it is hard and considered to be one of the 10 hardest games ever made for the PS2. It is also considered one of the best PS2 games released. Game is stupid awesome.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11350-maximo-ps2-169-metalzoic/ My original widescreen theme for the Game Boy Advance version of Super Ghouls'n Ghosts. This version added quite a hell of a lot over the SNES version and it surprisingly holds up to it really well graphically.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11351-super-ghoulsn-ghosts-gba-169-metalzoic/ My original theme for Maximo 2, Maximo vs. Army of Zin for PS2. This damn theme took forever, probably 6 hours straight today on this theme alone. Jesus... Game is a bit more forgiving than the original. They actually started making a 3rd Maximo game, but it was canceled and never released. Lame ass Capcom!http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11352-maxim-vs-army-of-zin-ps2-169-metalzoic/ My original Ultimate Ghosts'n Goblins theme has been updated a bit with faster timing. Officially 5th in the main series and ridiculously awesome. If you haven't played it you're missing out.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11202-ultimate-ghosts-n-goblins-psp-169-metalzoic-20160129/ My original theme for Ghouls'n Ghosts Remix for PC. A fan remake that uses combined assets from the first 3 games in the series. Now if I can just get it running in fullscreen mode.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11353-ghoulsn-ghosts-remix-pc-169-metalzoic/ Completely overhauled my original theme for Ghosts'n Demons. So much better I had to slap your momma! Another fan made game. This one was created last year by BonusJZ to celebrate GnG's 30th anniversary and is mostly an improved & updated version of the Wonderswan title.http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11101-ghosts-n-demons-pc-games-169-metalzoic-20161001/
