Hey hyperspin community , i bought a 4tb HDD from hyperspin last month and i just received it...

Been trying to make this works for 2 days now with my 360 controller (i also have 2 joysticks i am building but in the meantime i'd try to test)

i"ve watched all the possible videos (even austin recents ones) and RL menus are not the same , key mapping is a mystery i dont understand how this works

Also when it manage to browse the roulette , dreamcast for an example doesnt work .... show titles with a error message

I bought this thinking it would be a "key in hand" option meaning it would all be pre installed and easy to browse and work with....

The more i try the more frustrated i get because now i can browse games (josticks and A and B works on 360 controller) but when i enter a game it doesnt....

Anyone willing to help me setup this via remote control/skype i can even pay for your time i just don't have a lot of time in my life and i already wasted 2 days trying to get this thing to work properly...

Thanks you can e-mail me if you want to help i would be contacted easier that way

[email protected]

And FYI i am not a computer noob... i've been gaming all my life on a PC , i know my way around a pc and i even built the desktop myself just this is making me feel like a dumbass

All I can say is Make sure the drive letter is correct for the drive, otherwise ask the seller for help as they will know how they set it up. You could also Clone it, return it and get a refund.

There is also a 51 system setup in the platinum downloads section which may have been a cheaper option, but it does require you set up controls and have the ROMs etc.

Well.... thought by actually buying the unit from the company i'd get something well done and help to go along with.... :(

That's just a guy selling his own drives to you. Has nothing to do with this site or the guys that make Hyperspin.

The problem with buying pre-built drives is that most (if not nearly) everything on there is probably way out of date, mis-matched or older versions. It isn't really possible for any of us to help you with it because we have no idea what programs or versions they put on there, what settings they used, what 3rd party apps, what hacks etc... And you can't tell us because you yourself don't know. Fixing and trying to reverse engineer and update what you have would actually be far, far harder than simply building it up from scratch. I know, I started with a pre-built drive hoping for a quick result same as you. I scrapped it, started from scratch and in the course of a weekend had it up and running and more importantly had a good grasp on how it all works.

I'd recommend you keep the folder that contains your roms for the various emulators and your folder that contains the emulators themselves (you'll still need to replace or update a ton of it, but I'm sure a bunch of it is useful) and the Hyperspin Media folder and delete everything else.

Then download the latest version of HyperSpin and the latest version of RocketLauncher, follow the tutorials here or tutorial videos and set it up from square one.

I do try to warn with my vids mate... but the above is the cold truth.  HyperSpin do not sell drives and I warn about the purchase to everyone and in what must be every video I make.

If you bought it from who I thik you did they will not reply and most certainly will not refund you. Depending on how you bought the drive you still may be able to get a refund.  If its on Credit card or Paypal.  Contact those and tell them you bought a drive containing counterfeit material. Depending on the law in your country or card/paypal provider you should be covered by such things.

HOWEVER:  These people are not silly, they may have packaged it and left a receipt for just a HDD or something very vague so that you have actually just bought what you asked for.

Sorry mate... not sure what else I can do to warn people? I do make vids such as this....

If your RL menus are different you likely have an old version and updating that would likely give you seizures.  Starting from scratch with your media and roms seems the best option but will take quite a bit more time then you seem to want to take.  It's easy if you have done it a bunch of times but hair pulling insane for the first time.

You purchased from a fraudulent company that is selling pre-configured HYPERSPIN setups (what they are actually selling you is a HARD DRIVE and ripping you off because the HARD DRIVE probably isn't even worth whatever you paid for it. HYPERSPIN is a FREE PROGRAM! *MOST IF NOT ALL THE EMULATORS* you probably have installed are FREE PROGRAMS!!! the VIDEOS *in my opinion are PUBLIC DOMAIN!!!*  the ROMS shouldn't be PAID FOR PERIOD! other than from a company that actually is licensing the games so with that said I have no respect for anybody selling ROMS)

It's very disrespectful to come to the HYPERSPIN forums and expect people to be your customer service.. the folks here on these forums are dedicated users that have built there systems from scratch and have gone thru trial & error.. sharing information with others in the community.. I think it's hilarious that these people assume that they can come to these forms and get CUSTOMER SERVICE when there is no area on the HYPERSPIN site to actually BUY A HYPERSPIN DRIVE!

I say go back to the website that you purchased your DRIVE from and complain to them.

Anyone buying these drives that thinks they are OFFICIALLY endorsed by HYPERSPIN is an idiot!

exactly!

And to think whatever they paid for the DRIVE they could have become a Platinum member here and got the same STUFF and not to mention tons of HELP setting up there system.. not they have to start from scratch or attempt to figure out whats wrong with there OUTDATED setup... hell the emulators themselves probably need updating.

HYPERSPIN is a FRONT END!!!!!! it only looks pretty and works great if everything under the hood is good to go.

How much are those drives now? And how much is a HyperSpin and Emumovies membership? Not even sure now, but after all these years, I imagine I got off cheap. Poor dude.

It's not disrespectful, he just thought that the drive seller was associated with HyperSpin so this would be the place to look for support.

Kind of like all those poor souls who bought Super Street Fighter V and expected a full game that you could control. :P They are up in arms all over the internet and here.

Yeah I feel sorry for them. I did read that patches were in the works for dinput and key bindings, but that doesn't excuse the garbage that they released. It's sad to say but I pretty much expect titles to be broken on release or have day 1 patches. That's one of the reasons I tend to wait about a month or more until I snag a game, that way most of the bugs have been addressed.

Yes they put out a notice a few hours ago that they are working on keyboard re-binding, Dinput etc...

I (and many others) let them know that without them adding the ability to play 2 players from a single keyboard it will still be broken. So fingers crossed they add that.

In fact if it just had that it would be 100% playable right now as I could just re-bind using AHK/RL...

They have 12 days before my refund window closes. Hopefully they work quick.

Like I always say... "Try Before You Buy!"... read into that as you wish ;)

But yeah, the state of PC games is terrible on release now.  I wouldnt mind if SFV was quick to be released.  Its has been in the making for aaaaages... the actual BETA has run on longer than the sales of some popular games and its not like Capcom are starting from scratch.

In a way I do not mind the ideas they have as a build as they go... in a way.  But they best not class this as DLC or they will go the same way as Konami!

Have you tried the WindowsCE thingy?

Some people, even smart ones with loads of PC knowledge, don't realize what they are doing when they buy one of these things.  They think that because it says "HyerSpin" that it is a legit hard drive & setup.  They want to save some time (untold hours/weeks/months) and play the damn games.  And who doesn't?  In addition, not everyone has seen the "Warnings" about such setups.  I was one of the fortunate ones because I ** ALMOST** bought one but after further investigation (caught one of Austin's warnings), decided against it.

I just don't think it's fair to call everyone an idiot for doing this.  We have all made a mistake or two in our lives and that includes you, I am sure.  Rather than make blanket statements we should try to see other perspectives and treat each other with respect.  Unless, of course, someone comes on here and indicates they are an a**hole right out of the gate.......   then I say F 'em.  lol

It's not disrespectful, he just thought that the drive seller was associated with HyperSpin so this would be the place to look for support. Also, calling him an idiot is uncalled for. I could easily call you and idiot because every post you make on these forums has RANDOM capitalized WORDS and you usually post 3 or 4 small posts in a row instead of editing your first one which usually make threads you're a part of painful to read, but I don't

I'd admit to being a bit off my ROCKER (with those random caps!) and yeah, a bit lazy to edit my posts or perhaps just like seeing my post #'s go up...

Maybe I was a bit too hard on them for calling them idiots... but they clearly are buying these drives from some company that has a website... why come to hyperspin-fe.com? why not go back to the website they purchased from?

I hope these people aren't using their credit cards to buy these drives.. I mean really if a company is gonna rip off people buy selling front ends and emulators.... ain't no telling what else they're ripping off but a sucker is born every day I guess.

If he bought his from the same fat Spanish bastard place I got mine from then the instructions it comes with actually says

"For help and Support visit us at www.Hyperspin-Fe.com"

I wouldn't be surprised if the others tell people the exact same thing.

Hahah yes.. I seen em and i even says it on the startup readme I see on most of these.  I dont want to say the name of them here for obvious reasons, but the one I think we are talking about even sells up to 3 dif build of a 4 TB HDD.  hehehe its just pot luck if your on HL2, RL or in some cases a mix of them both that doesnt work hehehe

That's crazy!

If that was the case then I can understand his reasons for coming here.

On the bright side they have all the media.. hopefully the videos are HQ at least... if not there is a torrent floating of that old Hyperspin Project... hopefully that isn't what these people are selling..

I know on youtube there is a certain Hyperspin pre-configured site that pops up a lot... I normally see it whenever I search for people that actually have goodies to share via Youtube.

Those pre built systems are def not plug n play

Take it easy and tackle it one emulator at a time. Go slow and it doesn't matter what you do, you HAVE to take time to understand the program do you can tweak/troubleshoot.

Those pre-built drives are worse than useless. People are better off cutting their losses and starting from scratch than trying to fix them. Pretty much everything about them is lazy and hackneyed to the point it'll cause more issues in the long run trying to fix em.
