RocketBlinky

RocketBlinky is a 3rd-party tool that can, in a matter of minutes, auto-generate an LEDBlinkyControls.xml supporting over 160 HyperSpin systems. Translation: It takes 99% of the work out of setting up LEDBlinky.

Thanks to all involved with this.  Works beautifully!  I had a few consoles already setup and copy/paste from the output .xml was easy and the colors look great.  I appreciate the added MAME titles too!  Any idea where I can grab that nice British TTS voice?  For that matter any other TTS voice would better than Anna.  Google-fu let me down on this one.

I'd love to see some Sega Supermodel/Model 3 (there aren't many games on that system) in the future.   Let's keep this party going and get the ball rolling on completing controls.ini for MAME!

Thanks again guys.  Great work.

I really look forward to trying this out in hopefully the next couple of days. I just wanted to say that I appreciate all your hard work on this as I know it must have been a huge undertaking and many users are going to enjoy your work for many years to come. Awesome job!!

Thanks, scoodidabop!

Sega Model 3 is pretty tricky, since they're mostly driving games etc, which don't translate well to control panels. If you have some ideas, or a list of games that you think would be compatible, please share or PM me to discuss further. The British Male voice took a lot of trial and error -- to find one that works with LEDBlinky on Windows 7 -- but it was worth it in the end:

Ivona English, British Brian

That said, it's not available for free, that I'm aware of. I purchased a license for around $50. Any of the Ivona TTS voices should be compatible, I believe. Let me know how you make out.

Regarding additional MAME games, I'll create a separate thread for additional games. I think the easiest way to crowd-source additions will be a Google Doc. I just need to figure out the simplest format.

Cheers,

Owen

Thanks kmoney! I'm looking forward to feedback.

I'm really happy that DJVJ was able to add the ability to store user settings to the app via an INI file. When I release updates, will be able to update their systems in a matter of seconds by simply downloading the latest Base.xml, replacing the old one in their RocketBlinky folder, opening RocketBlinky.exe and clicking Generate to create an updated LEDBlinkyControls.xml.

More soon...

newoski, I did have a question pertaining to enabling ledblinky to work with hyperspin. I remember reading somewhere on the rocketlauncher forums that the best way is to enable ledblinky is in rocketlauncher and not in hyperhq. The last time I tried this, I could not get ledblinky to work in hyperspin unless I enabled it in hyperhq. I think it might have been you that mentioned this over at the rocketlauncher forums. Do you have a step by step process or advice on how to do it this way?

It's pretty straight forward. PM me your TeamViewer info and I'll be happy to get you squared away

Hey, got your PM. No worries. Was going to post here afterwards, to help others. Anyways, it's been a while, but I believe it's as easy as:

1. Disable LEDBlinky in HyperHQ

2. RocketLauncher Global Settings -> LEDBlinky -> All

3. Uncheck the "I use HyperLaunch to launch my games" option within LEDBlinky Config. I forget the exact verbage, but I believe it's under the MAME section

The only drawback of using RocketLauncher to drive LEDBlinky commands is that it won't be able to demo your game buttons from within HyperSpin wheels. Reason being that RocketLauncher doesn't do ANYTHING while you're navigating the wheels. It only does stuff when launching/exiting games.

Let me know if you have any more questions

Hi Guys,

So over 100 downloads... any issues to report?

Only that it's AWESOME!  Great work ;)

I haven't checked every single game but the ones I have looked at had proper lights and speech.  No buggy behavior in the Rocketblinky itself.  Simple, stable and effective from my experience.  I really appreciated those MAME additions, too.

Hi friends
I have downloaded and ready to try this with my new board Ultimate I/O received from Andy,
I believe all his boards default came with Mame inputs keys. Do I need to change those keys for hyperspin before I can setup rockeyblinky with right keys & Ledblinky?

We need more help filling in the blanks though, come on people!

You need to fix your "Beer Me" (it says you can only accept SE not USD) and neowski needs to add his "beer me" icon so I can float some skrill your way!

Hi Bros,

For the player 1 & 2 (8 buttons each) example P1B1, B2, B3 , I will need to choose joykey in rocketblinky or something else?

Do I still need to set color.ini for Mame in ledblinky?  Sorry guy these things are very new to me .

You still need color.ini for MAME, yes.  Rocketblinky will handle other things that aren't MAME - other arcade emulators, home consoles etc.  Rocketblinky has some MAME additions but you'll want color.ini for the bulk of MAME games.

Hi scoodidabop

Thank you for your information, where can we get latest color.ini.

Do we need to set Mame XML ? is this the same one we use in game database? or something else?
