I thought I'd start a thread about remakes. focussing on the ones that I'm realy realy looking forward to.

War of the Overworld.

It's a remake !!*hmm?* of Dungeon Keeper!!*ow :(* the way it was supposed to be done!! *yay!!*

F* off with that two bit overly complicated absolutely un playable game that goes by the name of Dungeons.. THIS is the remake we aspiringly evil Overlords have been waiting for. The kick starter that Started last year raked in enough money to even get the original voice actor Richard Ridings (you know him)... I'm a Bedrock Beta tester which yo ucan become by just buying the game off steam.. It's truely delightfull.

Project AM2R

Project AM2R sounds kind of cryptic, but realy it stands for "Another Metroid 2 Remake" which is odd because I haven't come across anyother Metroid 2 remake on the internet.

The project consists of DoctorM64 who is doing this in his spare time. It's basically a from the ground up "gee-what-would-metroid-2-look-like-if-it-was-released-on-SNES" remake. and I love it.

He has released some tech demo's and Mtroid Confrontation, which is realy fun to play

You might say that the youtube trailer is a bit dated, but he has made lots of progress in the mean while. I'm realy realy realy looking forward to this one.

It's an adventure!! even better, It's maniac Mansion...and to make it even more appealing, it's maniac mansion in the graphic style of Day of the tentacle!! AAAARGH *head explodes*

O wow. when i first found this... Still siked about it ... Slow posters, but the project is still alive.. mit Deutsche Grundlichkeit this game will be released when it's done :) send them money!

The Half life remakes

Black mesa (Xen)(crowbar collective) and Operation Black Mesa (Tripmine studios)

unfortunately no videos can be shows of any interest.

Now as some of you might have noticed I'm a big half life fan.. and in my opinion the half life series needs it's own Statue.. next to Doom's Space marine.

Unfortunately Operation Black Mesa, is mabe one of the worst run Projects I have followed on the internet...they post nothing..no progress updates..but the prospect that one day wethey will release an Opposing force/ Blue shift adaptation in source makes me grin and giddy like a school girl. Same goes for th efact when Xen will be updates to Black Mesa source... I'm guessing that Xen will become available shortly after you can buy Black Mesa from Steam :)

and Thats enough for now. I hope I've enriched your life with these games that I've been looking forward to, in some cases for more then 8 years. Do you have a remake you're looking forward to?? please let me know, post it below :)

I waited for many years for Star Craft 2 to finally be released. And finally they did it a few years ago. There have been a few games that I have always wanted to see come back but probably won't. War of the Overworld looks awesome. That I'll enjoy.

I really want Carmageddon to come back. Also it would be kinda fun if the Running With Scissors guys would make something again. Postal was so disturbing and yet funny as hell. I mean how often can you play a game where your manhood can be used as a weapon that causes vomiting? :)

How could I forget Planetary Annihilation?

I loved playing Total Annihilation and this is done by the same guys for the most part. So damn cool.

Broken Age comes out in a couple of days. Tim Schaefer has a great track record in the adventure game genre.. (Grim Fandango, Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Full Throttle..). Not so much a remake, but it's been a long time since I've experienced a good, classic point-and-click game.

Other then that..

A reboot of sorts, but one of the few FPS I'm looking forward to this year other then Titanfall (same devs originally behind the CoD franchise). Looks great, a bit Dishonored but hopefully it stays true to its roots.

Tim Schaefr is one of my Video game heroes :) My first PC game I bought was Day of the tentacle... I can dream that game..Quote every line of text.. a bit sad maybe but I love those games.. :) Realy looking forward to Broken Age. Brütal legend was also great fun, but I guess you'd have to be a metal head to realy get sucked into that world :)

Host Master and the Conquest of Humor : was a fun aniversary game featuring the man him self :)

Haven't gotten into Brutal Legend, although I thought Psychonauts was a unique platformer.

For me Monkey Island and Loom bring back the most nostalgia. This fan-made sequel was just officially released today:

Also I see Wasteland 2 is in beta. Might give that a try, being a fan of Fallout.

Dungeon master (mods of legend of grimrock) http://www.nexusmods.com/grimrock/mods/65/?

Not 100% identical due to engine (you cannot use doors to damage enemies) but really good stuff. Even better if you buy GOG no-drm version of legend of grimrock instead of DRM steam's one :Dhttp://www.gog.com/game/legend_of_grimrock

Ah... there's even a FREE remake of dungeon master/chaos strikes back/DMII with some slight enhancements over the original titles :)http://www.ragingmole.com/RTC/

O wow... that reminds me alot of Stonekeep, that same block by block room mechanic :) Remember this is 1995 were talking about :)

I'll buy this one :) the legend of grimrock i mean..

Just a suggestion: if you play "dungeon master" or "back to the dungeon with" an "unusal" party (I always use 2 warriors 2 mages) always bring a bow and some arrows with. You'll understand "why" later :P

Curse you all! I didn't have enough to play already until I die, right?! :D

I love the idea of a Dungeon Keeper reboot. DK is one of my favorites. I hope the devs retain the possession spell. Good times.

Anyway, my half-assed contribution to this thread is not a remake that is coming out, but one that came out not all that long ago. My buds on IRC informed me of it. I haven't gotten far in it, but it seems more of the same from the original that I love so much. If nothing else, it is full of win since it contains one of the best songs from one of the best movies featuring one of the best toy lines evah! Did I say that I liked it? Enjoy...

I was just reading through this to see if the Spectrum remakes got a mention. Atic Atic is excellent, I also downloaded the rest and will hopefully have them on a separate wheel, someday :)
