notjaymz Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 Im going to reference another thread that I think is in the wrong form. http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?30352-HyperSpin-videos-not-working ltozzi posted: "I just got a new Windows 7 machine (64bit) and when launching hyperspin it freeezes on the videos. I thought it was something to do with the videos so when I launch a video (say Mame.mp4) it freezes Windows Media Player. I can play the videos with vlc or with media player classic. Is there a way to force hyperspin to use those players instead or is it baked into the flash. For some reason my machine will not play those videos in Windows media player? I narrowed this down a little. I have the ArcadeVGA 5000 Graphics card installed. Without the driver for this card Hyperspin is playing correctly. With the driver it messes up Windows Media player. Every time I try to run any of the media videos it shows as a black screen and then it freezes. I believe this is what is causing the issue with Hyperspin.." Here is what I have tried; VLC Player works fine. Codec Pack Add-on (Sharks, KLite and etc) the videos play fine in Windows Media Player, but Hyperspin, NOTHING. I got with Andy at Ultimarc and he had no idea. Any ideas out there?
SORHP Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Im having the same problem, Windows 7 64, arcade vga 5000, HS, Sanyo ezv20, going on 5 hours of testing... My Arcade Machines...
notjaymz Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 @SORHP I went back to Hyperspin 1.2 and everything works perfect. 1.3.2 and above and it doesnt work.
Mrmikey73 Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Does anyone know if this card is worth getting if I already have the vga3000? Just wondering if the money's worth spending to upgrade.
SORHP Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 As far as I know, you're looking at the same thing, the card looks like a revision, but you may email Andy at ultimarc to be certain My Arcade Machines...
HazzardActual Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I'm thinking about buying one so I can throw my HS pc into my existing sega Noami cab.... is it even worth the cash? I mean if you guys are having trouble just running preview videos what other kinds of issues do they have?
jsmith3141 Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 I also had the same issue with the ArcadeVGA 5000. What you have to do is disable hardware acceleration: - Open web browser - Go to youtube - Click on any video - When the video plays, quick as you can right-click anywhere in the video, select Settings - Uncheck "Enable hardware acceleration" - You also have to disable hardware acceleration in Windows Media Player - Open Hyperspin and your videos will play normally (Andy at Ultimarc told me about this.) Also, I've discovered GroovyMame and Windows 7 work really well. This means you can use d3d and it looks the same as using direct draw. This means you don't have to use Windows XP to get around the annoying interlace switching bug when launching games like Rampage if you use 640x480 in Hyperspin. If you use GroovyMame and set the mame.ini video option to d3d, it looks as good as direct draw because GroovyMame is an enhanced version of Mame, and no problem launching Rampage. You also have to run Benson's AVRes program, which runs through all your roms and creates the ini files for each one with the correct resolutions for the Arcade VGA 5000. AVRes is on the Ultimarc web site. Then, in the mame.ini file, set lock_system_modes to 0 (unlocks the new video modes) and set refresh_dont_care to 1. Once I did all that, the games are fantastic on my arcade monitor.
somail Posted February 14, 2014 Posted February 14, 2014 Holy crap. I didn't even know the 5000 version existed. I am excited to hear your thoughts on it (once it works) My first guess is that something like hardware acceleration is trying to kick in with the modified drivers. Can you try forcing software decode in WMP or someplace in CCC?
notjaymz Posted February 15, 2014 Author Posted February 15, 2014 use Hyperspin 1.2 and everything works perfect. FLV videos work fine, MP4's dont work. If you install a codec pack the mp4 videos will run in Windows Media Player but still dont work in HS1.3.2 and higher.
SORHP Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Well, I installed xp instead of 7, and everything works correctly now, good ole 7 just wouldn't jive with the arcade vga drivers My Arcade Machines...
HazzardActual Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Theres got to be a work around... I dont wanna backdate!
notjaymz Posted February 16, 2014 Author Posted February 16, 2014 @HazzardActual there is nothing you can do, until they fix the driver, which I dont think they will.
Polemicist Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Or they could fix HyperSpin. So who ya gonna nag. Intel or BBB?
montanaroots Posted March 15, 2014 Posted March 15, 2014 Hey guys, I just got in contact with Andy and he says that in order to resolve this problem you need to go into Windows Media Player and turn off hardware acceleration. I believe this can be located under Windows Media Player/Organize/Options/Player/Performance/Turn on DirectX Video Acceleration for WMV Files ..... I hope this helps. Please try this and post and let us all know if this works, as I would like to purchase this graphics card for my personal arcade cabinet but am a little hesitant in light of this issue. Thanks, mtroots
p0giewan Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 :Update: I switched off my cab with warm fuzzy feelings of victory.. turned it on the next day to start configuring emulators and I'm right back to green video screen of crash. Tried a bunch of stuff tonight.. completely disabling media player, installing VLC, shark007 codecs and nothing works. I like the versatility of the card too much (will run SF4 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat as well as emulators without causing issues with arcade monitor) to give it up. Getting tempted to go with an alternative frontend at this point.
jsmith3141 Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I also had the same issue with the ArcadeVGA 5000. p0giewan Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 I could hug you right now Been messing around with this stuff for weeks.
ei8ht Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 Do we have a lack of performance with flash games like Mario Crossover without activating hardware acceleration? If it is so it is a contra.
UberCade Posted June 15, 2014 Posted June 15, 2014 I can confirm that the resolution proposed by jsmith3141 does indeed work. I have the exact same set up as the previous posters with the same issue, Windows 7 64-bit and an ArcadeVGA 5000, and once I disabled Flash hardware acceleration, the issue no longer happens. Thank you so much for that!
SORHP Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 different PC: Windows 7 32bit, arcade vga 5000, I turned off hardware acceleration in youtube, and went in to Windows Media Player and unchecked the box that says "Turn on directx video acceleration for wmv files" and still no joy, its still freezing HS, anyone else have a solution? or do I need to revert back to flv files? it works with flv files, but not any mp4 files edit: I tried to have only png's in place of the videos, and I got major slow down in hyperspin, never seen that before... 3ghz core 2 duo processor, 2 gb ram, 128gb solid state drive My Arcade Machines...
ei8ht Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 It must work. You have to pause the youtube video and accept the change....It worked for me as well.
SORHP Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 Well, I got frustrated and loaded xp, everything works now , but lost 7, oh well, I like shelling xp better anyway , so much easier Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk My Arcade Machines...
123jimbo Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Hi all, New user here, recently signed up as I wanted to see what this HyperSpin was all about as I was nearing the completion of my cab. Unfortunately I'm seeing the same as some of the others here on a Win7-x64 with an ArcadeVGA5000 and the latest HS1.3.2.0. Firstly, I don't get any 'Settings' option when right-clicking on any YouTube video. I did however find this link referenced from here and am able to see it there. Disabling and also adjust within Performance tab of Media Player makes no difference. The videos still don't play and HS stalls. Did anyone find a definitive way forward for this? I don't really want to go back to XP. Any suggestions? Thanks, Jim.....
montanaroots Posted August 20, 2014 Posted August 20, 2014 Hey Jim, My guess is perhaps your Flash isn't up to date. Make sure your Flash drivers are up to date, you should see a settings option in the middle of the screen ....
