Hyperion Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 Hi everyone, I've gotten right into XBMC of late and I've finally ripped all my DVD's and BD's into XBMC and am really enjoying the all encompassing entertainment experience. I really like XBMC's UI, especially the Aeon Nox skin. I've been using XBMC to launch Hyperspin and that works nicely. However I would like to have a more seamless system and also take advantage of XBMC's more sophisticated UI as my emulators frontend. My question is, has any Hyperspinners had a crack at using XBMC as their emulators frontend? I've had a bit of a dig around in the Advanced Launcher add on and it looks cool. Has any of the Hyperlaunch team tried to marrying Hyperlaunch to XBMC? If anyone has prior experience with it, I'd appreciate their thoughts. Don't get me wrong, Hyperspin + Hyperlaunch is still the best frontend around but if Hyperlaunch could be made to work with XBMC then that would be an exciting combination. I'm curious about this as well. I'm using Aeon Nox and I know Hyperlaunch is def compatible, I wish they wrote a tut on it because I think rom collection browser is able to launch through Hyperlaunch via cmd line I just don't know what line to tell it to send. bleasby Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 I already used HyperLaunch on the rom collection browser without problems. Basically the only thing that you have to do is to use the command line calling hyperlaunch and not an specific emulator. You have to send a command line like: C:\Hyperspin\HyperLaunch\HyperLaunch.exe MAME sf2 so you just need to use something more or less like this on the collection browser settings (I don't remember it exactly): Emulator Cmd: C:\Program Files\Roms\Hyperspin\HyperLaunch.exe Emulator Params: Mame "%ROM%" This works for all systems. When asking for help for RocketLauncher, POST ON THE RLAUNCHER.NET FORUMS! Also, please post your RocketLauncher.log with logging level set to troubleshooting in pastebin (set the log level in RocketLauncherUI, global system > General Settings -> RocketLauncher). Ass. For people who want a xbmc look in HS but because there are no themes or if people don't want to create one I think this is the best combo if you want that specific look imo, RCB+hl. Hyperion Posted February 6, 2014 Author Posted February 6, 2014 Aeon Nox certainly looks great, but more than that, the added sorting and searching functionality as well as nested menus that XBMC provides for Movies and TV shows would be very cool for games. I also like how XBMC has extra info on every video scraped from online databases. I've just installed Rom Collection Browser and will be giving it a try. If you don't mind please let us know how it goes as I've been pondering this setup for the past 2 months for the exact reasons you posted as well. Rom collection browser is chock full of info about each game before selecting it. For htpc I think this is a must. I am......Machine
guyverjay Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 I did this once with AeonNox but couldn't work out how to shut off XBMC upon launch and then restart it afterwards
Kamikaze7100 Posted February 8, 2014 Posted February 8, 2014 so how do you exactly setup RCB to launch HL. I'm getting an error with the setup in the 3rd post.
Trnzaddict Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 OK Guys, it's really simple. Got it working just now. Emulator parameters: Say if your system name in HyperLaunch was Sega Genesis, and you are adding that collection to RCB. Follow the wizard prompts, then when it comes to emulator parameters, it will just say "%ROM%". Edit it to say "Sega Genesis" "%ROMNAME%" After it's done scraping your artwork, select a game and start it, boom HL takes over and your fade screen starts. Exit back, XBMC is right there. Yes, include the quotes in the parameters!!!! Remember that the system name in quotes before the Rom command must be named exactly the same as in HyperLaunch!!! And as Bleasby stated, this method works for all systems. Simple. Have fun. I am......Machine
Hyperion Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 Thanks Trnzaddict, Using Rom Collection Browser's wizard, at the locate emulator step do I point RCB to HyperLaunch.exe instead of the relevant emulator? retro6 Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 Hello to everyone i just introduce my self to the forum, with a little question trying not to look rude, i try to fight arround with hyperlaunch and try to read and learn all i can but there are just some things i can´t manage on my own, im sorry to interrupt like that. And here my question when i try to start up rom collection browser, the hyperlaunch test box is coming up every time i try to launch a game, is there a way to deactivate this. Or just someone with a quick tutorial how to set it up with XBMC, i think im doing wrong. Thanks in advance, and again im sorry to jump in to the forum like that. Thanks
bleasby Posted February 27, 2014 Posted February 27, 2014 You need to pass parameters to hyperlaunch with the system name and the game name. HYperLaunch will receive from the rom collection browser something like this: hyperlaunch.exe "MAME" "tmnt" The hyperlaunch dialog box only shows if you try to run hyperlaunch without parameters. If you are calling only the hyperlaunch.exe I cannot give to you the exact answer on how to configure this on RCB, but just search on the xbmc forums for hyperlaunch, that I am sure that somebody once wrote how to setup it. When asking for help for RocketLauncher, POST ON THE RLAUNCHER.NET FORUMS! vincent_y79 Posted March 4, 2014 Posted March 4, 2014 I was looking to do just this - almost posted a question on how I can launch HyperLaunch through cli. Have an HTPC that has few a games but spans several systems and since I already have a hyperspin setup on another machine, I think copying over my hyperlaunch folder would be easier since it'll have all my keymaps already.
JoeBlow42069 Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Great thread! I never considered using another front end with HL until I saw this:) I setup XBMC to use Advanced Launcher, and have a nearly seamless transistion between the FE and emulator, except my Windows task bar keeps popping up when I exit the emulator and restore XBMC. If anyone knows how to keep the taskbar from popping up please let me know. These are the settings I'm using: I'm running Win 7 64bit XBMC System>Video Output>is set to use Fullscreen Window rather than True Fullscreen Hyperlaunch Global>Main Settings>Desktop I have everything set to true except Hide Frontend which is false Global>Main Settings>Exit>Restore Frontend On Exit I have set to Restore and Click
Pyramid_Head Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Can anyone shed some light on getting this setup? I get the arguments etc setup ie "Nintendo 64" "%ROMNAME%" I'm unsure as to what I put in the extensions so I put in 7z etc but it takes forever to import. I notice it starts to import all sorts of games from Genesis, Mame etc so no idea what I'm doing wrong :/ Also in the system list Sega Genesis is no where to be found lol. Using RCB.
zero dreams Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Went over to HyperLaunch after reading your post and hope this helps. http://www.hyperlaunch.net/forum/showthread.php?262-XBMC-with-HyperLaunch-HQ&p=4391&viewfull=1#post4391 HyperLaunch | HyperWiki | HyperSearch | Intro | Evolution | FadeProject | Checker | Steam Wheel
