Aorin
Is there a database for the MSU-1 games, I just checked and they added lots of new titles and there are several versions for the same game. How are you guys using it, choose one version of each game or keep all versions in the MSU database?

SupraKarma
Was anyone able to get BS Zelda Ancient Stone Tablets - Week 1 (MSU-1) working with the BSNES core? I have it working just fine with the SNES 9x core, but I get nothing but a black screen with BSNES, which I would prefer to use. The rom name= line in the appropriately named BML file (in the directory appropriately named after the name in the SNES CD XML) was changed to bszelda_ast1.smc to reflect the name of the file, and I've got other games (notably, FFVI Balance and Ruin) working without any shenanigans, so I don't know what I'm doing wrong here. All of the files in the BML file seem to be pointing to the right files, and I have all the files and the patch applied correctly. Any help would be much appreciated. My entire HyperSpin is now setup except this, and this is my final wheel. I'm very much looking forward to completing a solid year of work. When I get some time I could add variations for some of the other games if people want. Zeldix has the most complete database that I know about and people are adding MSU-1 functionality to new games almost weekly, it been hard to keep up with the releases. https://www.zeldix.net/f45-msu-1-hacking

For super boss gaiden, I use No$Snes. Now, I'll try to grab all the medias and videos for this I actually did some work on this myself, but didn't upload because I wasn't sure if it would come off the wrong way (this being utfalcon's project initially). I'm not trying to step on your toes here, because I know database work isn't much fun, but there's a few issues with the meta data here - first and most importantly, ESRB ratings were not in effect prior to 1994, and only a handful of games in 1994 had them. I know it's nice to have that 'rating' pop for game fades and whatnot, but it does not respect history or reality. A more acceptable compromise is to use the HSRS rating method for games that were unrated. Here's the work I've done on the database so far - it isn't complete (as I hadn't planned on releasing it to the community), but the data is accurate. (file below) The only thing that needs changed is some of the 'game names,' and I didn't change those because that would mean renaming media which is always a pain. The 2nd issue is, a few of the genres are wrong. Off the top of my head, Super Metroid is much more accurately described as an 'Adventure' game than a 'Platform.' If we're going to make an 'offical' list, please, let's do it right. Edit: You were right to rename TMNT IV to it's traditional full name, but one issue here is getting everything to fit on scree when it displays. I'm on the fence with that. Maybe we can collaborate and mint this database. I still think this is utfalcon's call ultimately though. He's done 99% of the work. I still think this is utfalcon's call ultimately though. He's done 99% of the work. Hi, no problem for that, even if I don't really know how to "mint" a database. What I've done is grab the database of Utfalcon and take the original name in the SNES and Satellaview Officials Databases (where Super metroid is a Platform game). For the ratings I effectly take the liberty to add the games for everyone and was not right for that. I can easily replace the ratings with "not rated". The important thing for me was to add the genres. And when I did that, I thought it could be a good thing to have the same names that the original SNES/Sattelaview games (even if I had to rename all the videos/media already done). Since the last editing, I just added Final fight more in my database. For Rockn' roll racing, there are two versions : instrumental or with singer. Perhaps we could decide what version had to be "official" and make all other versions "clones of". So in hyperhq we can decide to have only the parents or all the versions for a particular game. Perhaps I'll do that for my personal databases, but I really don't know if it will be a "mint database". There are so many way to do. But if you need some help, tell me what I can do (for example, verify some genres or ratings, add some msu1 hacks..etc..). And thanks again to Utfalcon to have initiated this system for hyperspin
SupraKarma
Let's wait for utfalcon to weigh in on this. I'm perfectly content with what he's already done, and I'm also ok with whatever he decides to do. My personal thoughts for Rock n' Roll Racing are to just name the entry Rock n' Roll Racing (MSU-1), and leave it up to the end user to decide whether they want the version with vocals or without. If you want the version with, it means extra effort on your end, because nobody seems to want to distribute the pcm files, and from my personal experience, it was kind of a pain to make them by hand, even with the included tools. I already had all of the mp3s but one, but the tool wanted wav files. Who uses wav files, seriously? In fact, I think the same could be said for TMNT IV. I have both versions with the modded music, but they're still basically the same game. Which version you want in your personal setup (or both) is a matter of preference. I think it would get annoying rather quickly if for example, the zeldix community releases 10 different alternate versions of MSU hacks. Should we really include all of them in the database? I think games that are their own unique hacks (Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past DX (MSU-1) comes to mind) should definitely be in the database, as should a single entry for any game that has MSU enhancement available (but nothing else in the way of enhancements or changes to gameplay).
