Huge thanks to everyone trying to get this worked out. I kinda feel useless here. I can follow directions well enough but I don’t know jack about coding.

I haven't got the update personally yet.

I don't use hyperspin so it won't effect me lol

Yes BigBox and LaunchBox/LaunchBox.next all work with 1803 update and for those interested I also got HyperMarquee working with BigBox due to issues with BigBox marquee screen options.

But hopefully the team can get HyperSpin's issue fixed soon!

Most of the devs had to force the update here. You can do that from Microsoft's website. But... don't

If you guys want to revert back all you gotta do is type in the searchbox on the taskbar is "reset" and select Reset this PC and choose Go back to the previous version of Windows 10.

That's all!

 

Worked like a champ for me and HyperSpin was back up and running.

Hi, I’d be happy to troubleshoot and I also have 7 different front ends on my drive:  HS, LaunchBox, EmuBox, RetroFE, GameEx, NewRetroArcade, MaximisArcade, and the HS over WiFi add on I forget the name of.

Also, I posted three links about windows update problem and what changed.  This IS a HUGE error and most definitely on windows’ radar.  Many programs stopped working besides HS/HHQ.

I have a Win10 fresh image for VirtualBox I can try too.  I’ll play around with it tomorrow night after work.

Cool, would you be willing to start a thread on the LaunchBox forums for us to discuss back and forth? I'd hate to clutter up this thread too much further with mostly unrelated Big Box troubleshooting.

Sorry, I'm not on LB forums.  I don't really use it much.  I use 80% Hyperspin and 20% Emubox (which is a HS add-on but much faster on my system).  I just noticed it didn't work in my gaming group I'm a part of on Facebook, someone posted it stopped working and many others confirmed.  When one said Big Box stopped working for him too; I tried LaunchBox and it did same.

I don't have any affiliation with LB/BB nor am I an expert.  Just trying to help you guys

This article shows that MS originally held the update and mentioned some of the issues, I guess they THOUGHT they fixed everything and released it... obviously there was other issues they didn't fix that we are all dealing with:

My Launchbox and Bigbox work fine under 1803 here. I have even tried installing them under an upgraded 1803 situation and a fresh install of 1803 and haven't seen any issues.

My first thought about Hyperspin was to use my go to Dependency walker app on the Hyperspin related executables, but ironically, the app itself will not run under 1803. How is that for a kick in the head?

I am continuing to test things out and will report back if anything comes up of interest.

I appreciate all the admins here working this issue.

Quick update: We were able to debug the app and find the actual errors causing the crash. We're still coming up with a solution, but we're on it.

I'll keep updating everyone here.

I was like mad trying to start, tried even older Hyperspin versions and my backed up one  

I thought it had something to do with the Spectre, Meltdown and other patches which keep updating lately.   Can't wait to have the system up and running again.
