legtod2 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Sold my cocktail table last year. Missed it so i'm gonna build another one and try these themes... Hope you dont mind.
oceanstate22 Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Wow ! Thanks for the info . it really helps
jeepguy81 Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 I'm doing some re-arranging of my ftp folder, so bear with me. Everything in the themes folder is up to date with what has been done so far. I will get to putting the rest up later tonight probably. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
jeepguy81 Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 1943kai, Kept the same overall style, but went with a biplane cockpit. Figured it worked since in this game your in a biplane... Aero Fighters, Wasn't a huge amount of artwork for this, credit to the main theme by "amchine", already had stuff nicely cut out. All credit to him! That rather ugly CPO is actually what i've seen on many cabs, ugly but it's true. If anyone has seen something different, im game to change it lol. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
jahilton2002 Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 This stuff is crazy! great work.... another question tho..... in your ftp folder you have SORHPs folder with its own set of xmls. to you plan on merging the work you have both done... it confuses me everytime lol keep up the great work guys
jeepguy81 Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 Yeah I probably will, while he was working on stuff it was just easier to keep his seperate. Plus there are a few on his xml that aren't mame, a couple typeX, so don't want to confuse anyone that merges the xmls. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
jeepguy81 Posted February 24, 2012 Author Posted February 24, 2012 Ajax, Pretty basic, went with the similar layout as the flyer, came out pretty good. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
maniacmat Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Hey Jeepguy, i'm still getting the Next game etc text on the theme, I changes that line to false in the mame ini file, and replaced the special artwork, should it be in another file?? On another note, in your mame cfg folder on the FTP, the default.cfg messed with my head, it changed all my controls, not sure if this is intentional
jeepguy81 Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 @maniacmat, hmmm, I would double check where you put the special artwork, if you overwrote the original ones then you shouldn't be seeing the old ones, just the new ones. They should go here... "..\HyperSpin\Media\Cocktail\Images\Special" *just an example, may be diff in your setup but you get the jist* I would delete the old artwork and insert the new, you only need the 3 art files. Also, check in hyperHQ, on the special artworks tab I think there's a box you can tick that says to use the default artwork? I'm not in front of my test box but you might try un-ticking that to see if that changes it. If you still don't have it when I get home tonight i'll look on my box and see. In regards to that default.cfg, i'm not to sure on that one. That group of xml's and cfg's were put up from one of the other users to help peep separate out games. I'm not sure what the cfg's change around, but if they are confusing I would just start with the original and change what you need. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
maniacmat Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 I just used my mame directory, I don't have a cocktail section, so i overwrote the mame specials to match the mame wheel which is the single wheel??
jeepguy81 Posted February 27, 2012 Author Posted February 27, 2012 yup, so you would be in.. ../Hyperspin/Media/MAME/Images/Special Be sure to remove all the old artwork, since HS plays the artwork in sequence, if you still have, for example SpecialA3, SpecialA4 in the folder, it will still show those in their order. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
maniacmat Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Ahhh, I just replaced the ones you had, I didn't read to remove them all first, cheers for that
jeepguy81 Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 Astro Blaster... - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
jeepguy81 Posted February 29, 2012 Author Posted February 29, 2012 And one more for today, Alpine Ski... Not much artwork wise, seems most taito machines around this time frame used stock art for the sides of the cab, anyway, used the bezel artwork, borrowed pieces from the theme Bodydump already did, so lots of credit to him on this one. The instructions i completely made up, any pic I could find the text was unreadable, or there was nothing at all. kinda weird. Anyway... As soon as i get home tonight i will upload these. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
maniacmat Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I had a search and couldn't see a complete list so I spent a couple of days in Mame32 pulling out all the cocktail roms and made a list, i've attached the ini file so anyone can put it into mame32, the next step is to cull the crap games, which is about half of them, the only ones I didn't include are cassette games because they are painful to use. I'll upload the smaller list in a couple of days to give you some work to do Jeepguy I renamed this .ini to .txt to aattach, just rename back to use in mame32 PS. There are 700 Games in this list Cocktail.txt
bent98 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 I already did this. I pulled out all the clones, non working, horz, slots. Came up with 220+
maniacmat Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 These are all working and no clones, I came to 700
bent98 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 These are all working and no clones, I came to 700 Did you filter out horz, mutil in one games, and games that used 3 buttons or less? 700 seems very high
bent98 Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 after looking through you list there is no way you filtered horziontal games as I see Popeye and a few others.
SORHP Posted March 5, 2012 Posted March 5, 2012 Wow! Been gone a while, having a kid will kill your time doing extra arcade stuff, not to mention that my baby boy is a button pusher, (so no out in the open photoshopping) I'm about to move and the new house will be graced with lots more new work to do, but at least it will also be graced with my cocktail cab with our really cool work... thanks Jeep for keeping it alive and making it awesome! and filling in the gap on the shmups for us, hopefully I'll be back into the theme making soon! My Arcade Machines...
jeepguy81 Posted March 5, 2012 Author Posted March 5, 2012 SORHP, good to see ya man, Starten' em young, gotta love that dude!! I'm in the same boat with ya on the house, it never stops! @Maniac, One thing i didn't think of is even if it's listed as cocktail, that doesn't guarantee that it's vertically oriented. I initially made that goof myself, hence why there's a popeye, asteroids, and a few others that I saw listed as a cocktail cab. Bent98 pointed this out to me recently. There are a couple games that i've done on purpose knowing they are horizontal, but that is going to be few and far between. At least on my end. Thanks for lining up more work for me!!! HAHA - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
maniacmat Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 bent - I didn't filter out horizontal because they are still cocktail games, and some of the best cocktails were horizontal, wonderboy is one of them, and work perfectly as cocktail. There may be one or two multi's but that would be about it. I will be going through and getting rid of games that are simply crap, in my opinion, which will cull the list a bit Jeepguy, and I can spend some time when I get it to make some of the wheel art if that helps, will look into it more when I get the list smaller.
EvilDindon Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Astro Blaster... Ah cool, astro blaster is a must have. "Dindon" means "Turkey" in french.
bent98 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 bent - I didn't filter out horizontal because they are still cocktail games, and some of the best cocktails were horizontal, wonderboy is one of them, and work perfectly as cocktail. How do you figure horizontal games display properly on a vertical monitor?
